Overview of the beaches of Sevastopol
Crimea is associated with a beach vacation, but Sevastopol is often considered an ordinary naval city. But they also have their own suitable beaches - the main thing is to know their features.
The best city beaches with a description
If we talk about the city of Sevastopol, then the indisputable fact is that almost 40 beaches are distinguished in it. Some of them are covered with sand, others are covered with pebbles. There are also those places that are artificially prepared for marine leisure, and not created by nature itself.
It is advisable to start a review of such sites from the beach "Victory Park", that in the Gagarinsky district. Thousands of tourists and locals flock here. In addition to the beach strip, there is also a small "Student" park "... You will certainly have to go through it on the road to the coast. Families with children often walk in the park; its territory is very well equipped. The attractiveness of the park area is enhanced by the fact that it is divided into medium-sized alleys, made in the style of different parts of the world.
It is quite easy to get down to the sea, but one must take into account that the coast is covered with small pebbles, and there are many hidden stones in the water.
The Victory Park beach is the property of the city and has a rescue station, shower cabins, lockers for things. There is a bus stop nearby.
Walking 300 m to the side, tourists find themselves on the beach "Omega"... This is a fairly long shallow bay. Swimming here is justified only in June. Due to the rapid warming up, algae and other dangerous microorganisms spread in the water. But in the first part of summer "Omega" is perfect for vacationers with children. The beach will also delight those who decide to combine leisure at sea with visiting discos, restaurants and cafes.
Tourists can take advantage of many other sites. Among them stands out beach "Sunny"located near the ancient Chersonesos. To get there, you need to walk near the Akhmatova Park. A fence, placed on the border of the beach, separates vacationers from the sites of historical excavations.
It is not difficult to find the "Crystal" section of the coast - near it there is a monument dedicated to the ships sunk in the Crimean War. Mostly elderly people and tourists who stay in the city center flock here. The beach is designed as a concrete pier. Descent into the water and ascent from it take place by stairs. It immediately becomes deep in the water near the coast, the depth is at least 1.5 m. The beach has been equipped with changing cabins, awnings, and rescue posts.
The region, remote from Sevastopol, called Balaklava, is actually also part of this city. The main beach of Balaklava is located in its center. There are many cafes and fish restaurants nearby. The disadvantage of this part of the coast is the rather significant amount of mud.
It is advisable to cross to the opposite side of the bay, where the sea is cleaner.
For rest in Balaklava, you can also choose "Silver" and "Gold" beaches. You can get there by shuttle sea taxi. In these places, the water is much better, but at the same time it is rather cold. There are always few vacationers on the "Golden" beach and this is due to the fact that the coast comes close to the mountains.
It is necessary to look for sandy beaches in the northern part of Sevastopol. It is there that, for example, the famous "Uchkuevka" is located. This strip is very long, and practically reaches the Saki region itself. Small ferries leave from the city center to the beach, and the flight is also combined with an excursion. People on board the ferry can enjoy the look of the city and the bays.
The entire beach is covered with soft sand of a small fraction. It is convenient and comfortable to lie on it even without bedspreads or sun loungers. In this case, entering the water should be as careful as possible. At the very shore at the bottom there is a strip of large gravel. Sun loungers and areas sheltered from the sun's rays have been prepared at Uchkuevka for a long time. There are cafes and small restaurants here. In them you can taste the dishes of the traditional cuisine of the peoples of the Crimea, including the Tatars.
Speaking about the beaches of Sevastopol, it is worth mentioning the Fiolent beach. It got this name in honor of the cape on which it is located. A notable feature of "Fiolent" is that it serves as the end of the western branch of the Crimean Mountains. It is not easy to come to the cape - the distance to the city is 5 km.
It will be difficult for people with strollers, and even with children who have just started walking, to get there if there is no private car.
Descent down to "Fiolent" takes place along paths and homemade stairs. The water in the area of this cape is very clear. Cooling it down due to underwater currents is practically impossible. Since there are no apartment buildings nearby, and there are few visitors, the sea is not clogged, the warmth of the water is maintained by the Yalta current.
The "Jasper" beach is located in the Balaklava region. The width of such a section of the coast does not exceed 450 m. However, this does not prevent it from being highly popular. The jasper beach is covered with pebbles. About 100 years ago, a staircase was built here, allowing you to get to the St. George Monastery. The landscapes in this part of the coast are very picturesque.
The northern border of Sevastopol can boast of the equally popular Tolstyak beach. It got its name in honor of Cape Tolstoy. The size of the coast in this place is 200 m, and at the same time it is divided by a number of breakwaters. A little further is the "wild" part of the coast. A disco is held on the Tolstyak beach at night, while stalls and small shops are open during the day.
You can get to "Fat Man" by taxi or by your own car, in addition, there are regular bus routes. It is impossible to make a mistake - the stop is exactly called “Fat Man Beach”.
As for the Blue Bay beach, it appeared as a result of an ancient volcanic eruption. Cape Khersones and the village "Kazachya Bukhta" are located near the beach. The nature in these places is pristine and original. So far, business has not managed to master this place, but some of the townspeople have already launched a brisk trade in the "Blue Bay". The coastal strip, covered with pebbles, stretches for 300 m - it is framed by amazingly beautiful rocks. Although the beach is very spacious, it will not be allowed to pitch a tent or put up a barbecue here.
You can go to Golubaya Bukhta by car or public transport. If you choose a bus, then you should come to Menshikova Street, and from there you need to get to the stop "Mayak-2".
The local population rents out rooms there for daily rent and there is a good hotel nearby.
Those who liked the "Uchkuevsky" beach should also try its continuation - the beach of the village of Lyubimovka. The total length of this section of the coast reaches 3 km. Gradually the equipped beach gives way to wild space. Most likely, this place will be to the taste of connoisseurs of everything non-standard in Crimea. The main part of the beach strip is well equipped in terms of infrastructure. Families with children are recommended to go here. Younger vacationers can swim in the Valentine's Lagoon. There are umbrellas, sun loungers, sun loungers and showers available to tourists. Since the sea here is relatively shallow, and the descent to the water is not steep, swimming is safe here. Travelers will first have to take a boat going from the Grafskaya pier, and then take a bus that leaves at the Perovskiy Sovkhoz stop.
Orlovka beach is very large, it stretches up to several kilometers in length. The bottom in this part of the coast is quite pleasant and the water is clear. It is not for nothing that these places were named "Golden Coast". A lot of housing is rented nearby - not only apartments and private houses, but also hotel rooms.
It is customary to divide Orlovka into 6 heterogeneous areas. There are no physical barriers between them and this will delight those who like to walk long distances. The coast is covered with sand, but in some places there are small pebbles. The flat steppe here and there is replaced by slopes, on which red clay is clearly visible. It makes the water dirtier during storms.
The Orlovka beach is divided by the Kacha River into approximately equal sections. The depth of the sea in different places can be very different.
The area near the Bereg garden community is very steep, and you have to go down there along a high ledge. The path there is asphalted, which greatly facilitates the path; a thick shadow from the surrounding trees falls on it - this is very pleasant, especially in the heat.
Soldier's beach is considered to be very attractive for locals and travelers. More recently, he belonged to the "wild" category. It was all about the poor development of infrastructure and the difficulties of arrival. The situation has changed since 2017. From a geographical point of view, the "soldier" beach is one segment of the coast of the Admiralskaya Bay.
The widest and most recently tidied area is adjacent to the river port. The name of the beach strip is due to the fact that earlier there was one of the air defense units. When the military left their facility, it became very quiet here, but the name of the beach has not changed. Now on the "Soldier" beach there are rescue posts, equipped toilets and a cafe.
Order is constantly maintained on the territory, many people rushed here, and the former atmosphere of romantic savagery disappeared completely. The inactive water in this part of Sevastopol warms up very well.
You should move carefully in the water, as sometimes large stones come across.
Seasonal leisure is modest, and so far it is limited to a few water slides, catamarans and playgrounds. You can get to the "Soldier" beach by bus route 81, which departs from Nakhimov Square. You have to go to the terminal point "Omega-City" - then tourists need to walk along Chesnokova Street and turn right as soon as possible, and then head to the northeast.
Continue the review of the Sevastopol beaches at such an object as "Aquamarine". Formally, it is open to any tourist, but in practice, priority is given to the guests of the hotel of the same name. It is necessary to search for a beach on the map of Sevastopol in the Pilots microdistrict. Victory Park and a cadet school are located nearby - these landmarks are worth starting from.
Those who have not stayed at the hotel will only be able to stay on a towel and swim in the waves. To take advantage of the beach infrastructure, you will have to pay extra money. At the peak of the season, even for an additional fee, a comfortable stay cannot be provided, because many people come and come here. The length of the beach strip is 150 m, and the width is no more than 30 m. The coast is covered with smooth, not too coarse sand. The entrance to the Black Sea waves is gradual, and even where the sand at the bottom gives way to pebbles, the discomfort is minimal.
In the absence of experience in overcoming such areas barefoot, you can walk along wooden paths.
Cleaning on the territory is carried out several times a day, so the water becomes cloudy not because of dirt, but because of suspended sand.
The next item in our review is the Bounty beach. This is another part of the popular Cape Fiolent. Contrary to its name, it does not give the same impression as a distant Pacific atoll. In the north, the "Bounty" turns into the "Turtle" beach, and in the south, it borders on a part of the coast called the "Crocodile Rim". Tourists have problems with orientation here on a regular basis. Sometimes only local residents can determine exactly where one part of the coastline ends and another begins. As landmarks, you can choose the Grape Cape and the complex of lighthouses. The Bounty is located farther from these lighthouses than from the Cape. Near the lighthouse, you can also relax on the shore, but in both places the descent is unthinkable without special rubber shoes.
The bottom of the sea at the Bounty is covered with stones. The coastal strip itself is not too wide. The only thing that the beach has in common with the famous tropical island is the crescent shape. The coastal slopes a little further away are very steep and there are not only palm trees, but even flowers.
The "Marble" beach in Balaklava cannot boast of an abundance of entertainment and additional services. But this does not prevent him from maintaining high popularity. The reason for the poor arrangement is that until recently it was a military facility. There are toilets, awnings and lifeguard posts on the beach. But the shortcomings are fully justified by the incredible view of Cape Aya, located in the distance.
"Kachinsky" beach has other advantages - there is a clear sea on it, which is convenient to enter, but the coast itself is covered with pebbles and not too wide. Finding a place to sunbathe in summer is difficult. The nearby embankment is well landscaped and decorated, there are many cafes and shops.
There is another beach area near Diana's grotto. It is suitable for rest only conditionally, since it is covered with large pebbles. It is extremely inconvenient to enter the water, the descent into the sea is covered with large stones. At the same time, the sea is quite clean, and it is not difficult to inspect the bottom. Since 2018, a solid staircase has been installed to descend to the beach, and the viewing platforms are very convenient for watching the sunrises and sunsets.
There is another excellent beach in Balaklava called "Vasili". It is appreciated by both Crimeans and people who come from afar. The area of the beach is not large, but the work on the arrangement of the coast was done very thoroughly. There is a shop, sun loungers and umbrellas are available for rent, changing cabins are prepared.
It is advisable to complete the survey of the main places with the "Tsarskoe" beach, located in the vicinity of the graceful Cape Fiolent. Walking along the shore is often impossible without presenting a pass. There is practically no sea swell there. This part of the Sevastopol coast is beautiful not only on the surface, but also under water. Amateur scuba divers willingly come here even from other regions.
Swimming spots in the surroundings
Since Sevastopol is very well developed, there are not many truly wild sites left here. Most of them only adjoin the space equipped with one or another infrastructure.
The most attractive wilderness spots:
Sandy beach separating the bay of the same name and the Omega bay;
"Wild Omega", located near the Cape "Sandy";
"Cossack Bay", which is the least equipped and has the most inaccessible beach space in the hero city.
Wild and nudist beaches occupy mainly the northern part of Sevastopol.
To get to the nudist beach, lovers of such leisure will have to go away from the city.
The entire coast on this side is distinguished by smooth entrances into the water. There are no stones, let alone boulders. It is necessary to look for really wild zones right after Lyubimovka.
Another example of such a site is “German beam”. There the coastal strip is rather narrow and abuts against the cliffs, folded with red sand. Local landscapes give the impression of a Martian surface. Despite the mass of sand, the sea is clean here. The only infrastructure available there is a store with a meager assortment.
Rating
The first place in the list of the popularity of beaches is occupied by "Sunny" beach. The list further includes:
"Omega";
"Crystal";
Victory Park;
"Uchkuevka" - it is especially recommended for travelers.
