Having visited Crimea once, I want to return there every year. One cannot but admire the beauty of this region. Those looking for a special atmosphere should visit Massandra. This small village combines not only the beauty of the Crimean land. Here you want to wander along the quiet streets for a long time, breathe deeply the purest sea air, admire the beauty of the mountains, enjoying the miraculous climate. And wine lovers will be able to appreciate the taste of this divine drink.

Description

The quiet village of Massandra is located not far from the noisy Yalta. Many consider it even a suburb, although this is not entirely true. In this place there is no such noise and bustle as in Yalta or other cities of Crimea. This place is more likely for families or families with small children.

For those who want to visit entertainment establishments, go to a disco, it is better to go to Yalta, especially since minibuses regularly go there starting in the morning and ending in the late evening. More than 8 thousand people live in this small village.

Neighboring Massandra with Yalta, there is a village 5 km from the bustling Crimean city. The height of the village above sea level is 140 meters. Massandra is conditionally divided by the Yalta - Simferopol highway into two parts: upper and lower. Hikers in the woods should settle in the upper Massandra. A forest begins almost near the last house in the village.

The village is located at some distance from the sea coast, if you look at it on the map. To get directly to the seashore, you need to walk a little. The village is located on a mountain, from the window you can admire the beauty of the sea surface, observe the surroundings.

Almost nothing is known about the origin of the village. There is evidence that a settlement has already existed here since ancient times.

After Crimea was annexed to the Russian Empire, the Massandra village changed its owners more than once. In this area, Count M.F. Vorontsov laid the foundations of winemaking. The count appreciated all the features of the local climate and used them in production, starting the production of fortified wines.

After 1889, Prince Golitsyn became the main winemaker of the resort village, who in 1884 founded the now famous wine production here.

In 1926, only 270 people lived in this settlement. The population gradually increased and by 1979 it was 4412 people. Currently, it is home to about 8 thousand.

Climate

The climate here is subtropical Mediterranean. On hot days it is less hot here than in Yalta, since there is a settlement in close proximity to the mountains and at some distance from the seashore. In the cold season, the village is quite warm.

It is very beautiful in the village at any time of the year, but Massandra is especially beautiful in spring, when nature begins to wake up and everything blooms. In mid-April, the air temperature here reaches 15-17 degrees Celsius.

The average temperature in July is 23-24 degrees Celsius. During the day, the temperature warms up to +32 degrees Celsius.

The velvet season here lasts from September to October. At this time, sunny weather with a comfortable air temperature remains in the village. Many advise to come to Massandra in the off-season, when there is no longer a strong heat and an influx of tourists. In addition, the price of housing and food at this time becomes an order of magnitude lower.

Swimming in the sea begins in mid-May and ends at the end of October.

In May, the sea water warms up to 17 degrees, in the middle of summer it warms up to 25-26 degrees, and by mid-October it has a temperature of about 17 degrees.

Winter is the coldest season in the village. Although the air temperature is about 5 degrees Celsius, it seems much colder due to the high humidity.

What to see?

Since the sea is at some distance, you have to walk to it or go to the Yalta beach by transport. This holiday village is more suitable for quiet walks along the shady streets. Here you can walk for hours in the famous park. This place has a special atmosphere. It is pleasant to wander along the forest paths here, stopping to rest and visit the ancient castle.

This is a great place for thrill-seekers too. For them, you should go to Ai-Petri or take an exciting paragliding flight, jump with a rope or just climb the Crimean rocks. To make a paragliding flight, you need to pay about 7 thousand rubles. A rope jump costs from 1 to 4 thousand rubles.

Crimea has a huge number of unique and beautiful places that must be visited. Many recommend going to Massandra and seeing the local attractions, including famous winery, Massandra park and castle. Such rest will not leave anyone indifferent.

Winery

It is not in vain that Massandra wines are the hallmark of the village. To appreciate their taste and aroma, you need to visit a winery. The cellars of the plant keep a unique collection of wines included in the Guinness Book of Records, which numbers up to 1 million bottles.

Most of the production is made up of dessert, liqueur and fortified wines. Drinks are made only from grape varieties; they are grown on vineyards that stretch from Foros to Sudak. In the production of wines, only classical technologies are used; chemical ingredients and sugar are not added during the processing.

The winery is one of the main attractions of the resort settlement. It is as popular as the famous Massandra Palace. People come to the winery not only for excursions.Visitors have the opportunity to taste unique wines.

Many vacationers prefer to combine an excursion to the factory with a tasting of 9 varieties of vintage wines. Such a combined excursion costs about 500-600 rubles.

The old factory with a massive stone tower looks more like an old castle. In the basement there are stone niches where the aged collection wine is kept.

The oldest wine in the collection is Jerez de la Frontera (1775). The most popular is Red Stone White Muscat, which has been repeatedly recognized as one of the best wines in the world.

A pleasant bonus will be a branded wine shop, where products are delivered directly from the factory. There is a huge selection of alcoholic beverages here. Buyers will be pleased with the pleasant prices. And also invaluable help will be provided by qualified sales consultants who will help you navigate the choice.

Massandra Palace

You should not ignore the magnificent Massandra Palace, the construction of which has been carried out since 1881 by order of Vorontsov. In 1889, the estate was acquired for Alexander III. Finished building the palace in 1902.

It is better to visit the palace in the morning, when there is no large influx of tourists. It looks very nice, the building is well-groomed and restored. Here you can wander around the park for a long time, away from sightseeing groups, enjoying the beauty and grandeur of nature, and breathe in the cleanest air. Unique trees grow in the park, there are a lot of rose bushes.

The palace is located 700 meters from the highway. The entrance to the park is completely free. The park is quite large, but well-groomed flower beds are made only in the immediate vicinity of the palace. A guided tour of the palace costs 350 rubles. It is recommended to purchase a full ticket with all exhibitions. There is a large balcony on the top floor of the building, allowing you to admire the magnificent surroundings and sea views.

By the way, until 1941 there was a sanatorium in the building, then "Stalinskaya" dacha. In 1992, the palace became a home-museum. There is a lot of wood in its decoration. The brown marble fireplace made from a single piece, exquisite mirrors and furniture looks great.

A park

The famous Massandra Park is located between the village and the sea. It was broken on the site of a forest at the beginning of the 19th century. The area of the park is 42 hectares. Majestic cedars, tall cypresses and spreading pines, junipers grow here. The air in the park is truly healing.

The private sector is more suitable for a quiet budget holiday in the best possible way. The price of housing here directly depends on the influx of tourists and the season. So, at the very peak, starting in July and ending in August, the price increases on average 2-3 times than at other times of the year.

Many people prefer to choose hotels with their own beach for accommodation. There are not many hotels here, most of them are located in Nizhnyaya Massandra near the park, practically next to Yalta.

  1. Those who come to rest in a big noisy company should look for a house or cottage in the private sector. So, a cottage for 12-14 people with a small pool will cost from 6 to 10 thousand rubles per day.
