Utes village in Crimea: location, hotels and recreation
On the Black Sea coast there is a small resort village called Utes. This is a real fairy tale for those who want to spend time in an atmosphere of harmony and peace, enjoying the sea air and the greatness of nature. The atmosphere of this place is different from most of the Crimean resorts. A cozy city without hustle and bustle is more like the Mediterranean of Italy or France. The article will tell you about the peculiarities of recreation in this unique village.
Description and history
The cliff is an unusual resort. On the map, it can be found between Alushta and Partenit. However, it is very different from these places. A row of multi-colored multi-storey buildings with a beach strip seem to be isolated from other settlements. The village is considered small even by the standards of the Crimea. The population is about 300 people.
Residential buildings are located on a hill, next to the mountain ranges. The rest of the territory is occupied by original structures intended for tourists. The location of hotels and resorts on the coastline is a very good idea. Beach holidays are the main entertainment here.
According to ancient documents, on the site of the modern settlement there was once a settlement of Lambat.
In those days, it was a large and fairly developed city. The owner of these places was the Austrian prince De Lin. Under Catherine the Great, he wanted to create slave plantations on his territory. However, thanks to Count Vorontsov, the land passed into the possession of the Russian Empire.
After that, the Cliff became a dacha village. Manors and luxurious residences were built here, parks were laid out. The most famous is the palace of Princess Gagarina.Modern boathouses and hotels began to appear after 2000. So the village has become a summer vacation destination for everyone.
Today it is a compact, but colorful and cozy town. There are no discos and noisy companies here. This is a place for people who prefer silence. Cozy little cafes and restaurants with live music, clear sea, pine needles aroma, comfortable beaches without crowds of people - all this creates the impression of an intelligent "European" holiday.
How to get there?
The village is located 10 kilometers from Alushta and 20 kilometers from Yalta. The best way to get there is through Alushta. If you are in Simferopol or another Crimean city, you should first get here. In Alushta, you should take a regular bus. He will take you to your destination. There is also another option. You can take a bus or trolleybus to Yalta. At the stop "Kiparisnoe village" you should get off.
Here you need to tune in for a long walk (about 40 minutes). You can also stop a passing car or minibus if you're lucky.
Buses run on schedule several times a day. It is better to buy a ticket in advance, as there may not be enough space... Even if you reach the Cliff itself, you will have to follow winding paths from the stop.
Then there is a descent along a very steep staircase. Get ready for this.
By car, you can reach the place from any city. For example, if you are driving from Simferopol, you need to keep to highway "E 105". You will spend about an hour on the road. If you are in Yalta, you will be traveling by car for 30 minutes.
If you want to get to the Utes sanatorium, you need to go to the end. If you need a tourist area, you need to turn left a kilometer before the sanatorium. The signpost "Santa Barbara" will help you. Don't be surprised if you can't park right outside the hotel. The streets of the city are too narrow, which makes it difficult to locate transport. However, there is a paid parking lot at the entrance to which you can return by unloading your belongings from the car.
Weather
The climate here is mild and pleasant. The weather is usually sunny. The mountain slopes and forest thickets surrounding the village block the path of cold winds. At the same time, the proximity of the sea makes it easy to endure the summer heat. The average summer temperature is + 23 + 25 degrees. The sea warms up to +20 +23 degrees. The swimming season starts at the end of May and ends in September.
Where to stay?
The private sector, familiar to many, in the form of houses with orchards and vegetable gardens is absent here. There are not many places in the village, so the buildings are located, trying to make the most of every meter. Convenient accommodation option - boathouses. This is the name of the multi-storey buildings with middle class rooms, standing on the seashore. The central area (Santa Barbara) is considered the best. Here you can find housing for a family of 4 people at a price of 1,500 rubles per day. The kitchen is usually shared. It is better to book rooms in advance. For this, there are special sites on the network.
Since buildings are being built in all directions, the windows of some rooms may not face the sea, but the wall of a neighboring house. There are also false windows. Consider this when choosing a home and check this point in advance, especially if the price of the room is suspiciously low. There are also many hotels and guest houses in the Utes. The best beaches
The village embankment is small and concrete. It is located in the center. There is an active trade in souvenirs. Anyone can go on a boat trip from here (there are boats and a motor ship). Also, a beautiful view of the mountains opens from the embankment. Downstairs there are several short beach areas with sun loungers and umbrellas. All of them are free, united by the common name "Cooperative".
Also in the village there are beaches belonging to sanatoriums and hotels. Unfortunately, you will not see the picturesque nature here. Some of the beaches are pebbly. Some are actually concrete platforms with sun loungers.
The entrance to the water is not very convenient, it is rocky. Nevertheless, it should be noted that nthe beach areas, like the embankment itself, are well-groomed, and the water here is clean... Many are glad that it is calm here, there are no large crowds of people and an abundance of noisy attractions. Others, on the other hand, are frustrated by the lack of entertainment. All that Utes has to offer is catamaran rides and banana rentals. There are also wild beach areas. These include the coast beyond Cape Plaka towards Partenit.
These are pebbly beaches with a bit of greenery. They are less well-groomed, but here there is clear water and beautiful landscapes. Getting here is not easy, so these places are usually deserted.
sights
The main attraction of the Cliff is Bear Mountain. She was once called the Saint. Today, here you can see the ruins of preserved ancient temples. On the paths of Ayu-Dage you can get to "Artek". Interesting relict plants can be observed on the eastern slope. The bay of the village is famous for rocks with unusual names. These are "Monk", "Neptune's Trident", "Camel" and others. Underneath them are underwater caves, which become objects of divers' research.
This place is famous for its beautiful parks. You can have a great time in the park of the Paradise Hotel. Elegant gazebos and original fountains appeal to both adults and children. The delightful green area is filled with both familiar to everyone and exotic plants. Many tourists like to stroll through the cozy park of the Utes sanatorium. Once it belonged to Princess Gagarina. Comfortable benches invite you to relax. Fountains and sculptures are pleasing to the eye. The aroma of pine needles heals, and the sonorous trills of birds give a wonderful mood.
It is also located here princess palace... It is a spectacular Gothic building with pointed turrets. Now the administrative part of the sanatorium is located here.Nearby is a sculpture modeled on the princess. Another famous attraction is Cape Plaka. The unusual shape of the cape is remarkable. As if two hemispheres of different sizes form one whole. This is a very ancient geological formation. Its age is over 150 million years. A breathtaking view opens up from a height of 50 meters.
Hikers can visit the mansion, which previously belonged to the Raevsky family. The building is made in the Moorish style. It is decorated with carved wooden elements and exquisite stucco moldings. Now the estate is sanatorium "Karasan"... It is surrounded by a wonderful park.
Recreation and entertainment
The infrastructure of the Cliff is underdeveloped. There are not many shops here. There is a fruit and vegetable market in the center. Due to the rather high prices, the fruits are often taken not in kilograms, but by the piece. In small shops you can buy souvenirs and beach paraphernalia. There are a couple of pharmacies. As for food, a vacationer can cook on his own if he rented a house with a kitchen. In this case, experienced tourists are advised to buy food in the shopping centers of Alushta. In their opinion, this way you can save money and buy better quality goods.
If you are staying at a hotel or sanatorium, you can visit a restaurant or cafe on the premises. There are not many independent catering establishments in the village. There are several restaurants. The best are "Santa Barbara", "Crown" and "Atlantic". It is worth noting that the prices are quite high here.
The Santa Barbara complex also includes a dining room. The cost of food here is, of course, more moderate. However, vacationers complain about too small portions. Tourists praise the cafe "At Katyusha". It is located on the waterfront.
There is also a pizzeria and a cheburek restaurant not far from the beach area. Evening rest in the village is not very diverse. You can just take a walk, enjoying the sea air. You can sit in a small restaurant, savoring the legendary Crimean wine and admiring the magical sunset. Relaxing music will create the appropriate mood. After 10 o'clock in the evening, silence ensues in the village.
If you are a vacationer of one of the large sanatoriums in the village, perhaps your evenings will be a little more fun. The staff will try to brighten up your evening leisure with a show program or karaoke.
As for the children, they are entertained only on the territory of some local hotels and boarding houses. For example, the animators of the Utes sanatorium conduct fun games, quizzes and competitions. Children especially like a variety of quests.
Tourists speak about the Utes village ambiguously. For some, this place seems too small, boring and unreasonably expensive. Others praise the unique stay in a quiet resort. They bring interesting photographs with them and then return to this cozy village more than once.
