Saki in Crimea: features of recreation, attractions and choice of housing

Saki is a special resort in Crimea, attracting tourists not only with its warm and clean sea, but also with medical institutions. It is worth considering in more detail the peculiarities of rest in Saki, the history and origin of the city, attractions, the best beaches, places for recreation and fun pastime.

Today Saki is a famous resort, which is located on the western coast of Crimea. The distance to the capital of the peninsula, Simferopol, is 45 km, and to the sea - only 4–5 km. The proximity of the city to the sea affected the climate: the seaside-steppe climate prevails here, which is characterized by both mildness and aridity.

Saki has a rather interesting history.... If we consider the name of the city itself, then some historians are of the opinion that the resort received such a name, since the Scythian tribes - Saki - previously lived in this area. Others consider the name pre-Scythian, since "sak" translates as "trap" or "bag". It can be argued that the sea flooded the coast and could not go back, thus a salt lake appeared.

Although Saki is a fairly new city as it received city status only in 1952, it is known that people lived on its territory even three thousand years ago.Many artifacts have been found on its territory, proving this fact. According to archaeological research, in ancient times, the healing lake was the center of the resort. Information about the beautiful town and the miraculous properties of the lake's mud is found in the notes of Ptolemy, Herodotus and Guy Pliny the Elder.

During the Middle Ages, a small village called Tuzly appeared on the territory of the modern city of Saki. It was here that the Muslim clergy were treated with mud. Although, as a resort town, Saki became known only at the end of the 19th century. Since that time, many scientists and others have become interested in the town. Various famous personalities began to come to Saki, scientific expeditions were carried out, and so on.

It is worth noting the contribution of Prince Vorontsov to the development of the city, namely the construction of a mud baths in 1827. Thanks to him, hospitals and pavilions for patients, houses and baths, as well as the first boarding house appeared on the territory of the city. Unfortunately, during the Crimean War, the city was completely destroyed, many residents had to leave the area. And only in the 1930s, Saki began to revive. During this period, a settlement was formed, a fairly strong infrastructure developed. The village is already becoming a settlement, and in 1952 it acquires the status of a city. A large number of hotels, sanatoriums and boarding houses have already been built on the territory of Sak.

Saki is located in a steppe area with plains and small hills that have little impact on the relief. For this reason, there are quite often winds on the territory of Sak, as well as high air temperatures, which are distributed equally throughout the area.

Summers in Saki are quite hot and dry. It is generally accepted that the average temperature is about +25 degrees, but often the temperature rises to + 35-40 degrees. Precipitation is very rare, it comes in seasons. A large amount of precipitation usually falls in autumn and spring. The winter is quite mild. The characteristic seaside atmosphere reigns here, as it often rains and snows. The average temperature is 0 degrees. Frosts are rare.

The city of Saki is located on the western coast of Crimea. Since the town is small, it is not visible on every map of Russia, so it is worth taking into account that it is located between Simferopol and Evpatoria.

If you need to get from Simferopol to Sak, then buses run regularly from the Kurortnaya bus station, about every 15–20 minutes. The station is located near the train station. And you can also go by bus and from the bus station "Central". You can get to the city from Simferopol airport by taxi. If there is a need for public transport, then from the airport you should get to one of the bus stations in Simferopol, and then take a regular bus to Sak.

Today, there is a wide choice where visitors can stay both in the city and on the seashore. Many tourists choose the private sector as such accommodation is relatively affordable. Renting a room in the private sector is cheaper than a hotel room. You can find many offers for wheelchair users, in which case the accommodation is fully equipped according to their needs. Quite often couples rent apartments. This option is also relatively inexpensive.

If money doesn't matter to you, then seaside options are worth considering. You can rent a guest house or hotel room. Some housing options are available with a pool. Hotels and boarding houses are usually located on the coast in the first line. For example, on the territory recreation center "Priboy" there are cozy cottages, bungalows, guest houses and luxury rooms. On the territory of the base there is a developed infrastructure - restaurants and cafes, pharmacies, medical aid points, showers and changing rooms.

Saki is located about 4-5 km from the Black Sea coast, so all the beaches are located outside the city. The city beach stretches along the embankment. It is located on a rather narrow strip of land that separates the Black Sea from Lake Saki. The strip is about 400 meters wide. One part of the beach is considered “wild” as there is no infrastructure and the beach is pebbly and sandy.

The other half includes a fairly well-developed infrastructure, since there are many boarding houses, sanatoriums and hotels concentrated here. The downside is that admission to this territory can be obtained only after payment, and some territories are completely closed from outsiders.

On the embankment, which runs along the highway from Sak to Evpatoria, there are quite a few open beaches with their own infrastructure for recreation of locals and guests of the city.

The beaches of these sanatoriums are small, but they contain minimal amenities. The coast is pretty clean. Here sun loungers and wide awnings are provided for vacationers. Sanatorium "Yurmino" is a good choice. On its territory there is a luxurious garden, decorated in the Greek style. Sanatoriums, like their beaches, are fenced with fences and nets to create the most comfortable conditions for residents, but there are cases when people swam from public beaches on their territory in order to calmly enjoy their vacation, away from the hustle and bustle.

Of course, there is no need to sneak onto the private beaches, as there is a recreation center with an open beach nearby. On its territory you can find housing for every taste, from luxury hotels and elite class cottages to small houses at an affordable price. There are many catering establishments, as well as a market, shops, a pharmacy, a medical center, salons, a nightclub, and attractions.

There is a sandy-pebble beach, and the entrance to the sea will be different - somewhere you can stumble upon stones, somewhere there will be great depth right away, but if you know how to swim, then you will definitely like it here. The entrance to the beach is free. Rescuers keep order, and no one is allowed to the sea in a storm.

Deserves special attention, since the beach of the sanatorium is presented in the form of a wide sandy coastline. It is open only for local residents, that is, at the entrance you need to show your registration, as well as for vacationers of the sanatorium. The beach is equipped with playgrounds and sports grounds, various attractions. On its territory there are changing rooms, toilets, and also tents with water. Nearby there is a park area and an embankment of the sanatorium.

This is the most fun place, which is popular with young people and not only. The Priboy beach is represented by a sandy strip up to 1 km long and 50–100 m wide. A large number of people can relax on it at the same time. The beach is open to everyone, regardless of whether you live on the territory of the recreation center or not. The beach can be reached by bus from the Sak bus station. Travel time will take approximately 20 minutes.

In the direction of Evpatoria there are the beaches of the village, while the stop is located on the Simferopol highway. Sandy beaches will definitely appeal to both adults and children. If you go a little further, you can relax on the wild coast. The beaches of the village have a fairly developed infrastructure, including changing rooms and toilets, attractions and rental equipment for recreation, awnings and showers.

Near the water park "Banana Republic" there are luxurious beach areas, among which the "New" stands out. It's pretty big and clean. The beach has awnings, toilets, benches for relaxation, and rental of umbrellas and sun loungers. At the entrance to the sea, there is a strip of pebbles, and, in general, the beach has a sandy surface. Getting to the beach is quite simple - you should get off the bus at the Banana Republic bus stop, and then turn left and in 10 minutes you will find yourself on the seashore.

It also has a luxurious beach, quite clean and spacious. On its territory there are toilets, changing rooms, showers and sheds, as well as storage rooms. If necessary, you can rent beach equipment. If you are staying at this complex, then all the inventory will get free of charge. But others will have to pay about 150 to 250 rubles per day.

This area is developed. Several central beaches are concentrated in these villages. So, the beach in Novofyodorovka is sandy, spacious and supplemented with infrastructure. The sea can be reached from the city by bus. Frunze Beach is significantly inferior to the above. The beach is dominated by pebbles, while the infrastructure is undeveloped.

Saki - it is an excellent solution for a quiet and relaxing holiday. It is ideal for spending time with children. Although the city is small, there is a lot to see here.

The decoration of the town is the central square and the Svyatoilinsky Church, which is an excellent heritage of Russian-Byzantine culture. The large Kurortny Park deserves special attention, as many amazing and unusual shrubs and trees grow on its territory. On its territory there are many monuments of famous artists who are related to the city. Most of them were treated with mud here. These include Nikolai Gogol and Lesya Ukrainka.

Opposite the park is the majestic Mud Therapy Museum. Much interest is attracted by the Kara-Tobe Museum, erected on the place where traces of a Greco-Scythian settlement were found. There is even an opinion that the found buildings can be considered the remains of a famous fortress called Evpatorion.

On the territory of Sak, as well as outside it, you can spend great family leisure. If you are attracted by active recreation, you should definitely visit the Banana Republic water park. It is located 10 km from Sak, if you go in the direction of Evpatoria. Amazing slides, good service will allow you to enjoy your vacation in full, but you always have to pay for the pleasure. If you want to devote your leisure time to sports, you should go to the stadium, tennis court or football pitch.

There is a fairly well-developed infrastructure in the city center. There are many cafes, restaurants and tasting rooms here. There are many boutiques and shops on Revolyutsii Street, which is the central one in the city.Medicinal cosmetics based on mud, as well as Crimean wines, various souvenirs, and products from local craftsmen are very popular.
