Crimea is an amazing place for a summer vacation, as if it was created for this: a huge number of historical sights, unique architecture, stunning landscapes. One of the places of the peninsula, which is definitely worth a visit, is the village of Mesopotamia, where at night you can see a huge moon in the sky strewn with stars, and in the daytime you can listen to an exciting old legend about a saint who settled somewhere in the Taurida mountains. We invite you to find out more about this place.
Location
The village of Mezhdurechye is located in the Crimea, the urban district of Sudak. Earlier, until 1945, the village had the name Ai-Srez.
It is interesting to note that the first mentions of this settlement date back to the 15th century, however, if we take into account the archaeological finds, namely the belongings of two medieval villages, it can be assumed that the village has existed for much longer.
Features of rest
Before talking about the features of the rest, it is worthwhile to briefly consider the history of this settlement, which will tell about its attractions.
For a long time, people lived in this place and were engaged in growing grapes on the mountain slopes, as well as planting gardens that had an interesting look. In addition, in the village you can observe one interesting phenomenon that happens periodically, namely mudflows. This phenomenon attracted the attention of bright minds, which is why scientists have created a testing ground for the study of this extraordinary stream.
Mudflows are a mixture of mud and stones and can be caused by floods, heavy rains or heavy snowfall.
It is interesting to note that on June 28, 1956, a fairly strong mudflow could be observed in the village, the intensity of which reached eight cubic meters per second.
The river caused a lot of trouble for the local population. In the summer, when you walk along a dry riverbed, you can't even believe that she could cause so many troubles.
