Shchelkino in Crimea: features, location and rest

In summer, all tourists and holidaymakers are attracted by the Crimean peninsula with its unusually beautiful landscapes and well-equipped beaches. Shchelkino is a city that was founded with a very specific purpose. Thus, the bulk of its population was made up of the builders of the Crimean nuclear power plant. This village was named appropriately - in honor of the well-known scientist in the Soviet Union, Kirill Shchelkin, who worked in the field of nuclear physics. If we talk about specific dates, then this settlement appeared on the map of Crimea in 1978.

The construction of a nuclear power plant in Crimea began 3 years after the founding of the city, in 1981. The initiative to build this enterprise belonged to V.A. The events described took place in 1984, and by this time the city of Shchelkino had grown significantly, began to be divided into districts. However, the construction did not last long. Unfortunately, by 1989, the official construction process was completely frozen.

Despite this, at that moment, a large number of people already lived in the village, which is located on the shore of the Sea of ​​Azov, so the city continued to exist. At this time, the air temperature can drop to -1 degrees Celsius. On the contrary, the hottest month is July. During this period, the thermometer on average shows a mark of +24 degrees Celsius.

The city of Shelkino (depending on your initial location) can be reached either by car or by plane. If you choose the second option (for example, fly from Moscow), then you should fly to the airport located in the capital of Crimea, Simferopol, and from there you can get to Shelkino by public transport.

If you have the necessary finances, you can also get to Shchelkino by taxi. In the event that you are traveling to Crimea by your own vehicle (for example, from Anapa), then you should cross the crossing through the Kerch Strait, and then take the city of Kerch as a landmark. 75 kilometers from Kerch (if you go along the western highway) you will find the settlement you need.

Due to the fact that in the summer season Shchelkino functions as a real resort city, on its territory you can find a variety of hotels, inns, guest houses and recreation centers that tourists love so much. Anyone who quickly gets tired of passive beach recreation and prefers a more active pastime can visit the few attractions of the city of Shelkino. So, first of all, you should go to Cape Turtle. Here is one of the most famous sights in the city - the gazebo. The gazebo itself, I must say, is not something extraordinary, but on the other hand, an unimaginable view of the sea opens from it.

An important landmark of the city is undoubtedly unfinished nuclear power plant, which, in fact, became the reason for the emergence of the city. This attraction is quite extreme and not everyone will like it. On some, it will make a depressing impression of devastation, while others will be attracted by its mystical atmosphere.

The most unique attraction that can be seen in the Shchelkino area is Kazantip Nature Reserve, which is a wildlife park... This attraction can often be seen in photographs, as people come here quite often for photo shoots.

A more casual holiday that families with children will especially appreciate is a visit to the local amusement park. Here you can ride a variety of attractions, as well as visit the game rooms and entertainment centers. In addition, local entrepreneurs offer rental skates to tourists. The amusement park becomes especially crowded on weekends and holidays.

Men will love the local fishing. You can bring all the necessary equipment with you, buy it on the spot or rent it. In such a pastime, you will never be alone and you can always find a companion for yourself.

Visiting the market and shops is another option for spending your leisure time. So, here you can buy fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as meat and fish of local production or catch.

The city offers a wide variety of cuisines that satisfy the needs of even the most demanding gourmets. So, here you will find dumplings and sushi, barbecue and pancakes, as well as delicious desserts.
