The Simeiz resort is located on the southern coast of the Crimea peninsula, 18 kilometers west of Yalta. Its history begins with the settlement of the ancient tribes of the Taurus, in the Middle Ages the Byzantines took possession of the territory, a little later - the Genoese and Ottomans.

Description

The name of the resort is of Greek origin, which in translation means “omen, sign, sign”. Indeed, the general view of the area is very remarkable: from the north rises the Ai-Petri mountain range, in the west - Mount Koshka, nearby are the most beautiful rocks: Diva, Panea, Swan's Wing. These hills served as landmarks for the ancient sailors following the expanses of the Black Sea from one place to another.

Mount Cat, at the foot of which Simeiz is located, was one of the main navigation points of that time. According to another version, the name is due to the fact that when a foreign fleet entered the bay, the Taurus kindled a signal fire, which served as a sign of the enemy's invasion and was noticeable throughout the area.

Today Simeiz is a small urban-type resort village with a developed infrastructure. On the map of Crimea, you can see that it is located between the city of Alupka and the resort of Katsiveli. There are only 20 streets in the village, in autumn and winter it is quiet and calm, the resident population is about 3500 people. But in the summer months, due to the large number of people who come to rest, it becomes crowded here and a rich life is in full swing.

For tourists, rooms are rented in hotels and in the private sector, there is a wide variety of canteens, cafes, restaurants, discos are held on the embankment.

There is a clothing and food market, shops, a post office, a bus station, pharmacies, an Orthodox church, a mosque, and several ATMs. Thanks to the beautiful nature, mild climate and warm sea, Simeiz is an excellent place to relax.

Weather

The weather conditions in Simeiz are ideal for a vacation. The village is located far from industrial enterprises, which provides ideally clean air. The climate is subtropical, there are no large differences in atmospheric pressure and temperature. The surrounding mountains provide protection from strong winds. It is a good place for the recovery of adults and children prone to bronchial and pulmonary diseases.

The swimming season starts in May and ends in October. The largest influx of tourists is from mid-June to late August.

In early June, the water does not always have time to warm up well, there are rainy days, so if you are planning a trip with small children, it is better to do it not earlier than the second half of the first summer month. Average daily temperature in June is 24 ° C, while the maximum rarely exceeds 28 ° C, the night temperature is 17-18 ° C. The water temperature on average warms up to 22 ° C, maximum - 25 ° C.

The warmest days come in July and August in Simeiz. The air warms up to 25-27 ° C during the day, sometimes it can reach 35 ° C, at night it drops to 21 ° C.

The water temperature is favorable for swimming - 24-26 ° С. The probability of precipitation in the form of rain is small. The heat is generally tolerated well, as the sea breezes help to survive it.

In September and early October, the temperature regime is similar to June. During the day - 21-24 ° С, at night - 16-18 ° С. The sea water temperature is 22-23 ° С. Rains are possible, but not too frequent. Ultraviolet rays are very active, so you can sunbathe using sunscreen. The recommended time is before 11 and after 15 noon.

Housing options

Simeiz is a cozy and calm place with a wide choice of accommodation for tourists. There are plenty of options: sanatoriums, boarding houses, hotels, hotels, guest houses.

For those wishing to combine relaxation with medical procedures, you can think about purchasing a ticket to the health institutions of the resort village. Many people wishing to strengthen their or children's health stay in the following sanatoriums.

    • "Simeiz". Ever since the times of the Soviet Union, it has been considered the most prestigious in Crimea. Its main building is located in a beautiful park. The institution specializes in the treatment of diseases of the respiratory tract and cardiovascular system. All comfortable conditions for rest and treatment have been created.
    • Named Semashko. It is the oldest in the village, has been operating since 1922. There are 5 buildings at the disposal. There are no special excesses, there are rather modest rooms with different levels of amenities. In comparison with other sanatoriums, the prices are low. Treatment profile: diseases of the ENT organs, rheumatism, disorders of the nervous system.
    • "Moscow". Children's sanatorium located on the very coast of the sea. Children with pulmonological and cardiovascular diseases, suffering from the consequences of environmental disasters, are accepted for health improvement. Rooms are designed for 4-8 people, all amenities are located on the floor. During school hours, school classes are held. For parents who have come to visit their children, there are rooms in another building on the territory.
    • "Youth". Relaxation and treatment are provided for adolescents and adults. Adults and children are accommodated in different buildings. In the children's building, rooms are designed for 4-5 people, amenities are on the floor. Rooms for adults - triple, room amenities. The beach of the sanatorium is 200 m from the buildings. The institution specializes in the prevention and treatment of tuberculosis and respiratory diseases.

People who prefer to organize their vacation on their own can rent inexpensive rooms in the private sector - both economy class and suites.

The rental price depends on the location to the beaches, and not on the availability of shops or stops. The closer the outlet is to the sea, the higher the price. Also, pricing is influenced by the availability of fresh renovation, modern furniture, air conditioning, household appliances, a bathroom in the room or on the floor.

It is worth considering that in recent years, recreation in the village is gaining more and more popularity, so it is better to book housing in the private sector in advance. Of course, upon arrival, it is also quite possible to rent rooms, but there is no guarantee that their cost, accommodation conditions and proximity to the coastal zone will 100% meet expectations.

There are no five-star hotels in the village, but there are private guest houses with a high level of comfort and service.

You need to reserve rooms in them in advance, as they often cooperate with travel agencies.

Simeiz can be conditionally divided into three parts.

    • Coastal area. The cost of housing is the highest here, the way to the beach is a maximum of 5 minutes. But it is worth considering that there are cafes and stalls with higher prices on the embankment, there are no other important sources of industry here. The shops will need to go up, towards the center.
    • Centre. The main street that runs through the entire resort is Sovetskaya. All the benefits of civilization are concentrated on it and in its surroundings. The "Ring" district, close to the center, is considered a good place to live. The road to the sea takes on average 10 minutes, if you go slowly - 15.
    • Top part. The streets are located above the village council and stretch towards the South Coast Highway. There are very picturesque corners of nature here, and at quite reasonable prices you can rent accommodation in comfortable guest houses overlooking the sea. Walk to the sea takes 20-30 minutes. The way back, accordingly, will be uphill.

    Beaches

Tourists spend most of their leisure time swimming in the sea and sunbathing on the beach. All beaches of the resort village are free, covered with small pebbles, protected from strong waves and wind by mountains and rocks.

    • Central beach. Well equipped, meets all sanitary standards, but very crowded and has a narrow beach strip. There are retail outlets on all sides, there is a rental of sun loungers, a variety of water activities. To the right of the beach there is a pier, from where sightseeing trips along the Black Sea are carried out on boats.
    • At the Diva cliff. The most favorite place for vacationers. You can get out to it from the side of the bus station, turning towards the hotel "Chaika", and go down to the embankment or go through the seaside park. As well as on the central beach, there are changing rooms, a shower, a toilet, and there are cafes nearby.

From water activities there is riding a motorcycle and banana, organized the work of a dive center in the building of the boat station.

    • At the boathouses. A small cozy beach, ideal for families with children, as the entrance to the water is very convenient. Available to everyone. There is a cafe on the waterfront nearby where you can dine.
    • "Pioneer". Located under the historic Villa Miro-Mare, between the central beach and the Assol hotel. It has several swimming areas. A small area (paddling pool) is a great option for small children, its depth is no more than one meter. A little further, there is a zone fenced off from the sea with slabs. The deepest reaches 3-3.5 meters. The slabs can be reached not only by swimming, but also on foot, along a special embankment.

Many vacationers love to dive from them, armed with a mask, as a beautiful view opens under the water - you can see the underwater inhabitants and feel the warm underwater current. The disadvantage of the beach is the inconvenient entrance to the sea, large stones and boulders.

    • Near the Assol hotel. Convenient pebble beach with a gentle entrance to the water. It belongs to the hotel, but admission is free for everyone, you only need to pay for the rental of sun loungers.
    • "Blue Bay". It has absolutely no infrastructure, it is not very convenient to get there, the path lies along narrow paths through the rocks. But because of the beautiful views and the cleanest sea, it is popular with people who prefer to rest away from noisy companies. Not suitable for spending time with children.
    • Nudist beach. Located at the foot of the Swan Wing cliff. The place itself is very beautiful, but entering the water is extremely inconvenient. There are no cafes or food outlets here. There are no restrictions on the conditions for taking tanning.

Each sanatorium has its own well-equipped beach, the best is the place near the sanatorium "Simeiz". There are much fewer people on such beaches, but it is difficult for ordinary vacationers to get on them, the entrance is carried out according to resort books.

    sights

Not every resort can boast of such an abundance of historical and memorable places as this cozy village.

    Mountain Cat

It is rightfully considered the main attraction of Simeiz. The name is often explained by the similarity of the mountain's outline with the silhouette of a lying cat. In fact, the name comes from the Crimean Tatar word "Kosh-Kaya", which means "Pair of rock" in translation. Tourists from all over Crimea come to look at the interesting outlines of the rock.

On the slopes of the mountain, there are rare plants listed in the Red Book: strawberry tree, Crimean cistus, rare thyme-leaved fumana shrub.

The mountain is a historical and archaeological monument. Here was found a Taurus burial ground of the VI-II centuries BC and the ruins of fortifications of the Middle Ages.

There is an observation deck on the mountain, which can be reached via an ecological path. The rise is also available for tourists with children.

    Rock Diva

It has a height of 51 meters, is washed from all sides by the sea, it is connected to the shore only by a small stone staircase. There is an observation deck at the top, but not everyone risks climbing there, since there are no railings on the stairs, and 260 steps need to be overcome. The rock is also notable for the fact that famous Soviet films were filmed on it and in its surroundings: "Amphibian Man", "Elusive Avengers", "Ten Little Indians".

    Panea rock

Located close to the Diva rock. The name has Greek roots and means "Most Holy". It has a second name - "Genoese", since in the XIV-XVI centuries the Genoese built a defensive fortress here. Now only fragments of it have survived. The pointed form of the rock reaches a height of 70 meters. At its top, the best views of the Diva rock, the surroundings of the village and the sea distances open up.

    Simeiz park

The most visited place in the village. About 200 plant species are represented. Cypresses and pines look very beautiful and stately. There is a large juniper grove on the territory of the park, thanks to which the air here is the purest and most salubrious.

    Cypress alley

Adjacent to the park. It also has another name - "Apollo Alley", as it is decorated with numerous statues of Apollo. Nice place for evening walks.

    Observatory

Located on Mount Cat, founded in 1912. During its work, scientists have discovered 8 comets, 149 asteroids, 150 nebulae, 149 asteroids, and were among the first in the world to receive a photo of the invisible side of the Moon. One of the minor planets was named Simeiz. Today, regular excursions are organized here in the evening. Visitors are shown equipment, introduced to the principles of its operation, and allowed to observe space objects.

The excursion will be interesting for adults and children.

    Villas "Ksenia" and "Dream"

They are considered the best works of architecture of the early 20th century, are visible from anywhere in the resort, and have the status of historical monuments. According to some reports, the villa "Dream" was the property of a banker from Poland, but he left it during the revolution. During the Soviet period, there was a hospital building here. Villa "Ksenia" was built in 1911 by the architect Krasnov. Locals say that Count Tolstoy also visited it.The exact fate of the villas is currently unknown. It is not possible to go inside, but you can walk from their outside and capture beautiful objects in a photo.

    Where to go with children?

Families traveling with children always think over entertainment options for their fidgets. There is no large amusement park in the village, but kids will be able to actively play and frolic in the playgrounds. They are equipped on the streets:

    • Lenin - next to the cypress alley;
    • Paustovsky - in the area of the Semashko sanatorium;
    • Zvezdnaya - next to the Ksenia villa, there is a rental of children's electric cars and bicycles.

But, undoubtedly, a visit to the Blue Bay water park will bring great joy to children.

It is located in the western part of Simeiz. Not only children, but also adults will get positive emotions from water activities. For kids, the water park provides a 310 square meter shallow pool with slides and fountains. The safety of young visitors is monitored by rescuers. On the territory of the park, animators hold fun games and contests.

Children from 8 years old can ride with their parents on the following attractions:

    • "Multipista" - straight classic descents from a height of 8 meters;
    • "Big hole" - is a closed pipe with two bends, descent height - 9.5 m, length - 116 m;
    • "Tobogan" is an open slide with smooth curves, 8.1 m high and 78 m long.

Let two people descend at the same time. The attraction "Kamikaze" is allowed from the age of 16 - direct descent from a height of 14.5 meters, 50 m long, with high speed and a sharp release into the pool.

The other 3 attractions: "Bend", "Serpentine" and Family Constrictor are allowed only from 18 years old. The water park has 6 swimming pools, beach volleyball and table tennis courts, a quiet VIP area, cafes and bars.

To diversify the time of rest, you can go on an excursion to the Swallow's Nest with your children and admire the beautiful old castle. The distance to it from Simeiz is only 12 kilometers.

A worthy and interesting place on a tourist route with children will be a visit to the Dreamwood Park of Wonders and Adventures in Yalta.

For them, a huge number of not only motor, but also cognitive entertainment has been thought out there. In the park, you can overcome the rope course, see interesting experiments and experiments, ride jeeps, play golf, visit the mine, decorated in the style of the 18th century, and take part in entertaining quests. There is a robotics room on the territory of the park, you can find out a lot of information about the manufacture of robots. There are also many attractions and labyrinths in the park, and there is also an area with water activities.

It will not be difficult to get to Yalta, regular buses run constantly from the bus station, you can also get there by minibuses.

    Reviews

Almost all reviews about the rest in this place are positive. Tourists are delighted with the beauty of mountain and seascapes, the abundance of vegetation, the air saturated with the aroma of juniper, the purest sea, the presence of attractions and the developed infrastructure of the village.

Among the shortcomings, vacationers call the overcrowding of the central beach, a small amount of nightlife for young people. Tourists living in the upper part of the village note the steep rise from the sea, and do not recommend choosing this area for families with small children.
