The pike perch is located in a very cozy place, hidden from the winds. On the one hand, it is protected by the Fortress Mountain, on the other - by Cape Alchak. For the first time, people settled on the territory of Sudak in the 3rd century BC. Since then, at different times, Genoese, Turks, Mongols and other peoples have lived here. The Greeks called their settlement Sugdeya, the Italians - Soldaya. Gradually, these names changed, and the city acquired its familiar name - Sudak. A beautiful settlement with a rich history has a lot to show and tell to vacationers.

In Sudak, you can wander around the city on your own or go around it in a light vehicle rented. Some people prefer to use the services of tour guides. There are places for families with children. The city offers a lot of interesting things to fans of extreme recreation.

What to see on your own?

    • Genoese fortress. The fortress was built by the Genoese in the XIV-XV centuries and has survived to this day in a fairly good condition. Visitors can see the main gate, more than a dozen towers, ruins of warehouses and barracks. The highest tower is called Dozornaya and is 15 meters high.

    The Genoese chose a good place to build a fortress.The approaches for the enemies were difficult, since the sea, rocks and ditches surrounded it on all sides.

    • Cypress alley. Cypresses are the most beautiful representatives of the southern flora; many Black Sea cities are decorated with alleys and parks planted with these trees. In Sudak, a cypress alley leads to the embankment. On it, in addition to slender green giants, you can find cafes, bars, entertainment centers, as well as many shops and stalls with souvenirs.
    • Church of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. The temple can be found in the very center of the city. It was erected in the first half of the 19th century - construction began exactly 200 years ago, in 1819. In 1868, historians celebrate a visit to the church by Empress Maria Alexandrovna, and in 1912 by Tsar Nicholas II.

    Until the mid-30s of the last century, believers prayed in the temple, but then equipped as a warehouse, then - a TV workshop, and later pioneer gatherings were organized in the church. In 1990, the temple was returned to the believers.

      • Temple of the Twelve Apostles. The church is made in the Byzantine style, it belongs to the Genoese fortress. For a long time of its existence, it was destroyed several times and rebuilt again.
      • Temple of Saint Elijah. One of the oldest temples in Crimea. It is located in the Sun Valley and is shrouded in mysticism. Local residents say that every summer, on August 2, Elijah the Thunderer utters a real thunderclap over his temple.

      The grave of the Martyr Peter was discovered on the territory of the church. After the restoration, a baptismal font was built here.

      • Aji-Bey Mosque. It is located near Sudak in the village of Dachnoe. A beautiful old building built in the 18th century. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the mosque was destroyed, today restoration work is underway. Services are held here every Friday.
      • The grotto of the Aeolian Harp. This amazing place in the form of a grotto with several entrances is located near the Krepostnaya and Bolvan mountains. The wind, passing through the portals of the grotto, makes a mysterious sound, akin to the mythical Aeolian harp.
      • River motor ship "Prince Bagration". It is an amazing example of Russian shipbuilding. In 1912, 11 of these machines were produced. Before carrying passengers, the ship managed to be a warship. Until 1991, "Prince Bagration" walked along the Volga.

      Then it was used for 3 years as a floating restaurant in Feodosia. Since 1994, the ship has found its refuge at Cape Meganom. There were plans to place a hotel in it, but today the ship is abandoned, although fenced off from curious onlookers.

        • Festival "Genoese helmet". In the Middle Ages, the Republic of Genoa was located on the territory of Crimea. Since 2001, a festival has been organized in the Genoese fortress, reflecting the era of the Middle Ages. Every summer so-called knights from different countries of the world come to the festival.

        The holiday is exciting and fun. Here you can see knightly tournaments, wall-to-wall battles, get acquainted with medieval life, visit a craft fair, listen to street musicians.

        • Golitsynskaya trail. For a more detailed acquaintance with the city, the Golitsyn path was created. It includes a whole complex of observation platforms, stairs, dangerous, but interesting places, fortified with parapets. Some of its parts are carved into the rock. There are several grottoes along the path of the trail.
        • Mount Ai-Georgy. The first thing that tourists see when entering the city is Mount Ai-Georgy. Outwardly, it resembles a bird sitting by the road.         • Cape Meganom. It is famous for its mysterious colored rings on the ground that are capable of changing color. Because of this unusual phenomenon, some people call Megan Cape a place of power, secrets and secrets.

          Historical Museum

          The place where Sudak is located has a thousand-year history, you can learn about it by visiting a two-storey building made in the Romanesque style with neo-Gothic elements. The building itself also has a historical background - once it was the dacha of the scientist Baron I. Funk.

          In 1998, the first exposition dedicated to the history of the city was exhibited in the halls of the former dacha. Unfortunately, a fire broke out in the building and the building was rebuilt. In 2004, I. Funk's dacha became a historical museum of Sudak with 13 thematic halls.

            Lutheran Church

            German settlers built a church here in 1887. During the Soviet era, the building housed entertainment establishments. Today in the church you can find an exhibition gallery, but sometimes the premises are used for their intended purpose - religious communities hold their services here.

              House-Museum of Prince L. S. Golitsyn

              On the outskirts of Sudak, in the village of Novy Svet, there is a spacious mansion of the Golitsyn princes. Today it is a museum dedicated to the era of imperial Russia, in which the prince's family lived. Golitsyn founded a winery using delicious southern grapes for his drinks.                 Wineries "Solnechnaya Dolina" and "Sudak"

                Crimea is famous for its wines. In these places, the climate is similar to the subtropical. Due to suitable weather conditions, valuable grape varieties are grown in Crimea, from which high-quality vintage wines are produced. Prince Golitsyn in 1891 planted 100 hectares of the area with grape bushes. He also built the first winery and cellars for his wines. Cellars, as well as the Solnechnaya Dolina plant, are still used today.

                  Promenade and central beach

                  Small beaches are scattered along the 2 km long sea line. They are covered with sand and pebbles. This alternation is not typical for Crimea.

                  The nearly 300-meter central beach has a convenient shallow entrance to the sea, the shore is equipped with sun loungers and attractions. There are places where you can relax with children, go to a cafe, walk along the embankment.

                    City water park

                    A beautiful, spectacular water park, which is interesting for children and adults, is located on an area of ​​2 hectares, nearby is Alchak-Kaya Mountain. Shady places under the canopy of island trees provide a rest from the heat, and you can also have a picnic there. The park has several slides and an artificially created river.                       Dolphinarium "Nemo"

                      Dolphinarium, located in Sudak, is part of the Nemo system of marine complexes scattered along the Black Sea coast. Dolphins and marine animals are shown here.
