Crimea is a fairly popular resort in Russia due to its favorable climate, comfortable conditions, rich history and high saturation with tourist sites. And also there is an infrastructure, the importance of which for tourists cannot be overestimated. And among all this splendor and diversity, Yalta is the pearl.

Peculiarities

The Russian city of Yalta is located on the southern part of the Crimean Peninsula, which, in turn, is located in the Black Sea, which determines certain natural and climatic features.

First of all, the southern coast of Crimea is characterized by the features of the "sea" climate - relatively low temperature fluctuations, warm winters and not very hot summers for this climatic zone.

The minus temperature in winter is stable only in the "core" of the peninsula, moreover, the minus is very shallow - the prevalence of the "continental" type affects.

Spring and autumn change places rather gently, as in autumn the thermal reserves of the Black Sea smooth out the decrease in temperature.

In spring, the Black Sea gives a pleasant coolness.

In Crimea, it is rather dry everywhere, except for the northern slopes of the Crimean mountains, the average annual rainfall hardly exceeds half a liter.

But even these slopes can hardly be called wet - it's just not arid.

The natural belt is characterized as moderate - northern subtropics, from the peculiarities of nature, an abundance of mountainous areas, steppe biomes.

Climate

If we pay more attention to the climate of the Crimean peninsula, we can distinguish the following subzones: continental steppe, marine steppe, foothill forest-steppe, mountain forest and sub-Mediterranean.

The first subzone is found mainly in the central part of the peninsula, reaching a point slightly below its middle in latitude. It also covers a significant part of the Kerch Peninsula.

The steppe marine subzone occurs in a thin strip along the western coast of Crimea, and also covers that part of the Crimean peninsula that is not occupied by the continental subzone. The famous resort towns of Evpatoria and Saki are located in this space.

The foothill forest-steppe zone is located in the foothills of the Crimean Mountains (which occupy the southern part of the Crimean Peninsula), in this subzone are Simferopol, Bakhchisarai.

The mountain forest subzone occupies the mountain range itself; there are no large cities there.

The sub-Mediterranean climatic zone is the smallest and includes the narrow edge of the southern coast of Crimea.

It is in this zone that the most beautiful city of Yalta is located.

Yalta has a subtropical Mediterranean climate.

The average temperature in winter is 4-5 degrees above zero. The swimming season is open from May and lasts until mid-October. During the swimming season, the average water temperature on the beaches does not drop below +20 degrees Celsius.

Lodging

In Yalta there are many opportunities for accommodation, including hotels, inns, sanatoriums and boarding houses on the seashore. But you can also rent accommodation from individuals or stay in a hostel.

Of the hotels, for example, Mriya Resort & Spa is notable.

Among its advantages - a wide range of price classes of rooms, free check-in for children, luxury villas on the territory, located right on the territory. It also has everything you need for active recreation, sports and leisure, 4 restaurants, a cinema and a nightclub.

Another hotel worth paying attention to is Yalta-Intourist.

This hotel can offer an abundant water entertainment program: heated Olympic pool, children's pool, water bar. And also "Yalta-Intourist" can offer healing with curative mud and other spa treatments. There is extensive landscaping on the territory, and in the hotel itself there are comfortable rooms, as well as service services, where guests are offered a buffet breakfast. The disadvantages are high prices and an abundance of tourists during the season.

Third, we will consider the spa hotel "Livadiyskiy".

On the pleasant side, this hotel offers proximity to the coast, decent food, wellness and spa services. And also there is an abundance of swimming pools and close accessibility to some of the attractions. Disadvantages - cluttered sea view.

Among the boarding houses and sanatoriums, the "Paradise" boarding house deserves attention, characterized by a quiet, calm and almost homely environment, close to the sea.

Abundant landscaping and "live" natural sound create a truly heavenly atmosphere. The guest houses have swimming pools. And also the entire territory is equipped with buttons for calling staff, which to some extent increases the comfort.

Further we will pay attention to the sanatorium "Ai-Petri".

The territory of this recreation complex, as befits a sanatorium, is abundantly landscaped. And also "Ai-Petri" offers a buffet and wonderful views of the surrounding area, but the sanatorium has a difficult terrain and therefore there are many stairs. In addition, there is a private sector on the territory of the sanatorium.

The sanatorium "Miskhor" is interesting. This is a relatively cheap option, with a nearby beach and good infrastructure. Here vacationers will find a rich leisure program, so they will not be bored. Of the minuses - the same type of architecture of the rooms.

It is not far from "Miskhor" to the main attractions, especially close to the so-called "Swallow's Nest" and to the center of Yalta.

For tourists on a low budget, hostel accommodation may seem attractive.

The best hostel is the "Gnezdyshko" establishment, which is cozy and resembles a student hostel. In "Gnezdyshka" there are apartments for 2, 4, 8 and 10 people, moreover, the last two options imply bunk beds. It is possible to book online well in advance of your arrival. Each guest, regardless of the capacity of the room, has a bed and a bedside table, has a separate bathroom and free Wi-Fi.

There is a supermarket nearby, and the hostel itself has everything you need to cook. There are also safes, washing and ironing facilities.

Another curious hostel is Dog. It is surrounded by a garden and has a cozy setting, but this hostel has only 5 rooms.

There is a common room for 10 people and rooms that can accommodate companies for 2 people. The tenants will have parking, safe, Wi-Fi and bicycle rental.

The best beaches

The main beach of Yalta - "Primorsky" is located next to the hotel "Oreanda". The beach is free, there is where to eat - cafes, shops, and you can also buy souvenirs. The beach is approximately 400 meters long and is covered with medium pebbles.

The next on our list will be "Massandra" beach, which is, by and large, a complex of beaches with free admission, well-developed infrastructure and an abundant leisure program. The use of services on this beach is paid, and the price tag is not the lowest in Yalta.

"Massandra" beach is marked with a blue flag and is very popular during the swimming season.

Dolphin is one of the best beaches.

It is quite remote from the city center, clean and calm. This beach is ideal for families.

sights

There are many beautiful places in Yalta.

Some of them are of natural origin, while others are man-made.

Let's consider a more detailed description of some of them.

The first in the list of beautiful places will be Mount Ai-Petri with Ai-Petri yayla. The height of Mount Ai-Petri is very simple for mnemonic memorization - 1234 meters.

You will have to get to the top of the mountain by cable car. Spending less than half an hour on the way along this road, you can look at the wonderful views of nature surrounding Big Yalta.

Nearby there is the Priaypetrinsky Karst Basin, which amazes visitors with its views of stalactites and stalagmites, and the Geophysical Mine.

Underground passages are formed by photoluminescent materials, so camera flashes or flashlights make the walls glow for a while.

The second natural attraction is the Uchan-Su waterfall.

From the language of the Crimean Tatars, its name is translated as "falling water", and the water has where to fall from - the height of the waterfall is about a hundred meters. It is advisable, when studying it, to climb the stairs from the observation deck upwards.

You can independently explore Mount Cat with a lonely Red Stone, as well as the ruins of a medieval castle, and Mount Dzenevez-Kaya, as well as visit the cozy bays of the Ai-Todor and Sarych capes.

On excursions around Yalta, you can see many architectural monuments. One of the most famous is "Swallow's Nest", which is located on the cliff of Cape Ai-Todor. The history of the "Swallow's Nest" begins in the last quarter of the 19th century, when the first wooden structure appeared in this place.

The Swallow's Nest is not only an architectural monument, but also a museum. Of the advantages - an indescribable atmosphere, gorgeous views and relative distance from civilization.

Yusupov park and palace were founded in the beginning of the XX century.

The advantages of this complex are the abundance of sculptures and an outstanding architectural component. Elements of the Italian Renaissance were used in its creation. You can legally get to this palace only as part of an excursion.

In Yalta there are wonderful man-made objects of nature - Nikitsky Botanical Garden, Cape Martyan reserve and Yalta reserve. Nikitsky Botanical Garden from April to November demonstrates the so-called "ball of chrysanthemums" - an exhibition of plants in the botanical garden.

The garden is kept in order.

"Cape Martyan" is a nature reserve with 150 species of birds, 540 species of plants, about 700 species of insects, 18 species of mammals and 200 species of algae. In this reserve there is the so-called Valley of Ghosts - a place with rocks of an unusual shape.

It should be borne in mind that in the special zone of the reserve, movement is allowed only along a specially marked path.

The Yalta Reserve covers an area of 15 thousand hectares. On the one hand, it is limited by the sea, and on the other, by the Crimean peaks. Mount Roca, rising to 1.5 thousand meters, is the highest point of the natural complex.

There is a Museum of Nature in the main building of the reserve administration. In addition, on the territory of this reserve there is the Ai-Petri peak with a cable car, which was mentioned above.

Entertainment for tourists

In addition to attractions, Yalta has many opportunities for leisure and recreation with children. The city has an excellent Zoo "Fairy Tale" with more than a hundred representatives of the world of fauna. It is allowed to feed the animals with special mixtures that can be bought at the entrance.

The Yalta-Intourist Hotel has a dolphinarium with daily shows of dolphins and pinnipeds. Moreover, intelligent artists are so involved in the process that it seems as if they get genuine pleasure from the performance.

In the water park "Atlantis" you can enjoy jumping from a tower into the water, swimming pools and a variety of slides.

In addition, the water park has many food outlets, so you can always stop swimming and grab a bite to eat.

Of course, you cannot do without visiting the embankment, which, being a popular place, can offer a large number of cafes and restaurants where you can visit attractions, see such remarkable places as the Central Post Office, the Tavrida hotel or others.

How to get there?

As mentioned above, Yalta is located approximately in the middle of the southern part of the coast of the Crimean peninsula. The length of Big Yalta along the coastline is several tens of kilometers (72 kilometers, to be precise).

The city is connected by highways with Simferopol and Sevastopol, which can be specified on the Crimean road map.

You can get to Yalta by train, feeling all the charm and romance of rail travel. An approximate algorithm for such a trip: by train you follow from Moscow (or another city) to Anapa or Krasnodar, then change to a bus to Yalta.

Yalta has no air connection, the nearest airport is only in Simferopol. To get to Yalta from the airport, you will have to take a taxi or take a ride on other types of ground transport.

There is a port, therefore, direct sea communication is possible. Thus, vacationers can get to Yalta by sea, and in the case of traveling by car, they will have to use the Kerch bridge, then drive through Simferopol and from there keep the road to Yalta.
