Do-it-yourself hanging flower pots
Pots - an interior utilitarian attribute that seems to have become extremely fashionable again. And most importantly, the number of materials from which it can be made has increased. From copper pipes to a cutting board - there are so many beautiful structures in which you can put / plant flowers.
How to make a planter out of copper pipes?
This workshop is similar to a variety of algorithms that use straws to create pots. Such a hanging planter for flowers will not cost so cheap if you take the sources, but it looks very stylish.
For work you will need: 2 m of copper tube with a diameter of about 3 mm, a small pipe cutter, strong fishing line, leather cord, a pot, the houseplant itself.
Step-by-step instruction.
- The tube is to be cut into pieces - two dozen pieces 4 cm long, and 5 more pieces 24 cm long. First, long fragments are cut, then smaller pieces. For measurements, you can take a measuring tape.
- At one end of the fishing line, you need to tie a knot, and the other end is threaded through 5 small fragments so that a pentagon is formed as a result. The line will have to be passed through the first fragment of the tube twice.
- And again the line goes through 4 tubes and one previous one to form a pentagon. The figure may not look perfect, but the weight of the pot will straighten everything.
- You will need to make 2 more of the same pentagons. There will be 4 of them in total.
- Now you need to bring the fishing line through the tubes to the bottom of the extreme figure, put the tube on it. Next, the fishing line is threaded through one edge of the second extreme figure.
- The line has to be threaded into 2 more tubes, and then through the rib part of the pentagon, so that something resembling a flower in configuration appears in front of your eyes.
- It's time to string long tubes, as in the photo - they must converge at one point. The line will come out at the junction of the long tubes, and come back through one of the two long ones.
- It remains to fix the last tube, but first put a pot in the middle of the product (otherwise it will simply not be able to crawl between the tubes later).
- The last tube is attached.
- Next, you need to cut off 30 cm of the leather cord and attach it where the long copper tubes connect. You can make a knot, or you can fix the loop with hot glue. Then this place of fixation can be wrapped with several turns of the cord.
The design is ready!
How to weave from threads?
The easiest option is tie "clothes" for a flower pot, and then arrange a pendant for it. A pot is taken, exactly the one that is to be hung, it is tied with single crochet posts. This strapping is quite simple, even children who are just learning to knit can cope with this task. If the flower grows in a cylindrical straight pot, everything is even simpler: a chain of air loops is knitted, having the length of the container's girth, closed, and then knitted in a circle until it reaches the desired height.
For the suspended version, of course, you will also need bottom... First, a circle is knitted, and then you can proceed to knitting the walls. Of course, you have to tie the ropes on which this pots will be hung. When the bottom goes to the walls, a loop is tied: the hook is inserted only behind one wall, either the back or the front. This forms the so-called scar, which will make the transition expressive.
Rope weaving
This is what the word calls "macrame", or very similar to that. Over the past couple of years, such handicraft has become very popular again, and modern wicker items have appeared in the interior of the house. If you are not sure that the macrame will conquer right away, but you really want a wicker planter, you can start with a simple option. Jute rope is used as the main material, as well as clothesline or twine.
How to make a pots-suspension is a simple scheme.
- 8 threads are taken (for example, this is a twine), they must be equal in length. No twine, you can take twine. Each thread can be folded in half to form a loop.
- The twine is wrapped around the main bundle, and it is wrapped around it several times.
- The structure must be secured, the residual threads must be removed with a sharp knife. You will get a bunch of 4 strands, each with 9 strands.
- Then you can start the main weaving. This work uses the technique of twisted chains, as well as flat knots. The weave comes out strong, but at the same time plastic. That is, you can put a glass flowerpot in such a product.
- The main mesh for the pots is to be knitted with flat knots.
- After everything is completed, the craft must be fixed on a metal ring.
- And so that the threads of the finished pendant do not fluff, which will make the pots untidy, they need to be scorched with a lighter.
You can make such a suspension at home in one evening, it will decorate one of the walls in the house, or it will become a cozy decor for the window area.
More ideas
Not all planters are planned to be hung at home. They are also made for the street, garden, since such crafts are also in demand in the country. And them can be constructed from scrap materials.
From plastic bottles
Do not be dismissive of plastic bottles, because they can also become an object that attracts attention and decorates the space.
To make such a product you will need: plastic bottles, a stationery knife, a hole punch, acrylic paints (aerosol paints are also possible), brushes, a glue gun, a strong cord.
We make a planter from a plastic bottle step by step.
- The lower part of the bottle must be cut off - exactly the same size as the planned planter should be in height. It is more convenient to do this with a clerical knife, but if there is none, sharp scissors will do. If the planter is in the form of an animal's face, then you need to cut it out immediately with the ears.
- Next, you need to punch (or cut out) a hole where the cord will be threaded.
- From the outside, the product must be painted, give the paint time to dry. Then paint on the eyes, nose, mouth - in a word, what the planter lacks for the image of the animal in the form of which it is made.
- Dry the product again, pass the cord through the hole (however, there can be two holes - it is more convenient to hang the planter this way).
- Rarely, the edge of the bottle is cut so that the cut is perfectly straight. And a beautiful tape fixed with hot glue can hide irregularities.
- A small pot with a flower is placed inside, it remains only to hang the planter in the right place.
For the street version, this is a good example. Especially under the visor, these cute planters look great and last longer.
From beads
Such an expressive version will turn out if you take: a wooden flower pot, beads (also wooden), jute twine, white and gold paint (it will be easier with an aerosol), scissors, a wide floral ribbon.
Manufacturing scheme.
- A pot made of wood itself is usually beautiful, therefore it needs to be protected with floral tape - exactly those places that should remain unpainted.
- Then the pot is painted with gold paint, preferably in 2 layers. Then you can leave the sealed area unpainted, or, on the contrary, cover the gold areas, and cover the saved ones with white paint.
- On a long thin skewer you need to put on a row of beads. And cover them with gold paint too. But not all beads will be colored, but only a part of them.
- Dried gold beads of the same size should be strung onto the jute twine. The total length should be commensurate with the bottom of the pot.
- Jute with strung beads is rolled into a circle. The ends of the threads should be tied in a tight knot, but not cut off.
- Then the circle is knitted again, but you can already use different beads: both colored and unpainted.
- By beads, the round base is divided into 3 parts. One is already there, and the other two need to be added. The ends of the threads are tied in knots at the middle of the second and third ropes. Gold and unpainted beads are added to the second and third ropes.
- Above, you will need another, large and connecting bead. The ends of three threads are inserted into it, stretched all the way. The tops of the threads are tied in a strong loop.
Can be inserted into the pot holder, you're done!
From a cutting board
And one more simple master class with a spectacular result. For work you will need: chopping board, scissors, screwdriver, D-shaped fasteners, as well as screws, plant, sphagnum moss, strong fishing line, spray gun.
Here's how to do it yourself.
- A mount (D-ring) is attached to the back of the board. The plant is taken out of the pot and placed on the board.
- 4 screws are screwed into the board with a screwdriver, the distance is at least 4 cm from each other.
- The roots of the plant are covered with damp moss, it will mask the screws too.
- The line is attached to the head of one screw. The moss must be held back. That is, the moss is fixed on the board between the screws with the fishing line. The edge of the line is fixed on the head of the fastener, cut off.
- The planter can be hung on the wall by sprinkling the moss with water from a spray bottle.
This MK used a dwarf orchid - it turned out beautifully.
Not all of these algorithms are done very quickly, but there are no complex instructions here. Happy repetition!
