Neoclassical living room interior design

Neoclassicism originated during the Age of Enlightenment, and today it is a popular style, including in the design of apartments. This trend is close to classicism, but in its modern form. It embodies nobility, consistency and restraint, and also gives a feeling of home, but at the same time refined comfort. In neoclassicism, living rooms are often decorated, and in order to do this correctly, you need to find out a detailed description of the style.

Creating a neoclassical style in the living room interior requires a large space and bright windows. Besides, this design is ideal for apartments with high ceilings.

If you nevertheless decided to give preference to neoclassicism when decorating a living room, then you need to know its main features:

• restrained colors;
• application of architectural techniques;
• emphasis on various details and elements of the interior;
• natural materials (natural origin);
• a sufficient amount of natural and artificial light;
• elegant furniture of simple geometric shapes.

Neoclassicism excludes the use of bright or contrasting colors in its interior. Usually, light, discreet, mostly white and various shades of beige are used. May still be present black and gray. In general, the entire color scheme of a living room of this style should be performed in warm pastel colors.

As already mentioned, natural materials are used to create a neoclassical interior, for example, expensive types of wood and stone. However, modern raw materials are also used now. All living room surfaces are usually in solid neutral colors. The basic rules for decorating a living room in a neoclassical style apply to rooms with an area of ​​15 sq. m., and for those that are twice as large.

Pastel colors when decorating the walls will help visually expand the space. Despite the fact that they predominantly give preference to plain wallpaper, options with wide stripes or graceful ornaments are also possible.

Various wood species or marble are used for the flooring. You can also lay parquet or laminate under a noble wood. But, as already said, preference is still given to natural materials. The same applies to the stone floor: if necessary, it is allowed to replace it with marble-styled tiles.

Often the interior of a neoclassical room is complemented by a carpet that matches the color scheme.

Ceiling decoration should match the overall style, complementing it and decorating the living room. Usually it is done in one color, no pictures, but it is often used tensioned or suspended varieties.

In addition, when finishing all surfaces of a room, do not forget about the use of architectural techniques. It can be arches instead of doors, columns and stucco. For the manufacture of these interior elements, it is currently advised to use modern materials, since they are lighter both in weight and in processing.

Lighting is one of the main components of interior design, especially in neoclassicism. Since rooms with large window openings are suitable for this style, it should be said that natural light is as important as artificial light. The room should not just be lit - light should be everywhere. Therefore, the lighting is provided by the sun and chic volumetric chandelier.

As mentioned above, in the neoclassical style, soft colors are used, this applies not only to all materials for decoration, but also to furniture. Just like in decoration, you should pay attention to products made of natural wood and fabric. In general, the furniture can be used both classic and modern. All furnishings in the room must meet the following criteria:

• geometry of forms and classics of lines;
• elegance, nobility;
• convenience.

As for furniture, preferably some of them are paired, for example two armchairs, bedside tables... This is necessary to create symmetry in the setting. Typically, there is one object in the center, such as a coffee table, with the rest of the furniture around. In addition to typical pieces of furniture for a living room, such as a medium-sized sofa, armchairs, chairs, bedside tables, a neoclassical interior may include a chest of drawers, a coffee or coffee table, a sideboard for dishes, and a wall mirror. You can also complement the image with books and flowers. In the interior of the neoclassical style, it is also possible to create a fireplace.

The neoclassical living room will be complemented by curtains made of expensive materials. So, silk fabrics will look appropriate in this interior. It must be remembered that the fabric of the curtains should be natural and corresponding to the neoclassical interior in terms of color. You can also use an elegant semicircular lambrequin.

In addition, to complete a holistic image, details are needed, which are suitable for:

• vases with flowers (table and floor);
• paintings;
• pillows on the sofa;
• figurines made of ceramics, plaster or porcelain;

When decorating a room with various decor elements it is important to remember that you do not need to overload the space with a large number of accessories. Everything should be in moderation, noble and tasteful.

The first option is an elegant living room, which is done in light colors. The color base of the room is white and beige, which are complemented by silver and blue.

The walls are decorated with snow-white rectangular stucco moldings and painted in plain beige. There is a dark flooring on the floor, and in the center there is a snow-white carpet. The ceiling is also monochromatic, but additional graceful designs are used that attract attention and are an unusual accent in the interior.

As stated earlier, neoclassicism requires a lot of light. In this picture, there is a natural light source - a large bright window. There is also a sufficient number of artificial lighting fixtures in the room: a large chandelier, table lamps, a lamp and ceiling lighting.

In addition, the room contains a coffee table with vases in the center of the space, tables with lamps, a large mirror, a fireplace, and various figurines. On sofas and armchairs, you can see a large number of pillows, and on the walls - paintings.

The living room is very noble and elegant, but at the same time it seems very comfortable, which is perfectly in line with the neoclassical style.

The second living room is made in different tones of beige, but there are also elements of white and dark brown.

On the walls you can see wallpaper in restrained colors (white and beige) with a geometric pattern. The floor is covered with wood, almost the entire area of ​​the room is occupied by a light carpet. The ceiling is monochromatic, white, but it attracts attention due to its unusual shape.

The lighting in the room is mainly natural, since, in addition to the usual window, one wall is occupied by a glazed doorway. In terms of artificial lighting, the living room has two table lamps and one floor lamp.

In the center of the room there are tables of an unusual shape, covered entirely with textile material. In addition, there is a large sofa and an armchair with cushions, tables with lamps and flowers.

The third version of the living room is also made in beige shades, but darker, there are elements of brown, yellow and gold. The setting has clear lines, geometric shapes and symmetry.

The walls are covered with beige wallpaper; two symmetrical ledges are made on the sides. The floor is covered with wooden laminate and the false ceiling is white.

As in the previous examples of neoclassical living rooms, the room is equipped with natural and artificial lighting... One corner of the room is fully occupied by a large floor-length window, and there are also two regular windows. On the ceiling you can see a large elegant chandelier, the walls are decorated with two lamps with gilding, there is also a lamp on the table.

The living room is not very large in size, and almost the entire space is occupied by a sofa with soft pillows. The coffee table is complemented by a vase of flowers to match these cushions. There is a special TV stand made of wood.The curtains on the windows are matched to the color of the wallpaper.

This room has an unusual, however symmetrical shape, which brings its own flavor.
