Interesting options for New Year's ikebana
You can create a New Year's mood in different ways, one of the easiest ways is to decorate your home. It is both enjoyable and rewarding to help you relax, bring family members together and get great results. In addition to the most traditional New Year's decorations (Christmas trees), it will be useful to make small festive "blotches" throughout the house. New Year's ikebana will help to achieve the ubiquitous feeling of the holiday. In this article, you will find interesting design ideas that will help bring the spirit of Christmas and New Year to your home.
The color scheme of the composition
There are a huge number of options for decorating do-it-yourself ikebana. The New Year's theme easily includes vases with flower arrangements, baskets and boxes filled with New Year's paraphernalia, wreaths made of spruce branches or balls, laconic hanging decorations and, of course, traditional Western decorations placed in socks. Let's start with the basics - the color scheme.
- Of course, the most classic color scheme is a mix of greens, reds and golds. For those who consider such a set too pretentious, we recommend simply replacing the gold with silver, it will never spoil the composition.
- Another good combination is the use of cold colors. All blue, light blue, white and silver shades that will remind you of the frost outside the window will be relevant.
- If you want jewelry to look expensive and noble, try using deep shades - burgundy, brown, dull orange, dark green. This "explosive mixture" can be diluted with splashes of gold details or using transparent elements that will give a light shine.
No one forbids you to use more daring combinations, in which case you simply start from the color scheme of your interior and the idea as a whole.... It is impossible to disassemble all the options due to their huge number, so we will dwell only on the basic ones and move on to the elements from which you can compose a composition.
Accommodation options
First of all, let's designate the options for placing jewelry, there are not so many of them, but the shape, size, fastening system, etc. will depend on the chosen place. Your Christmas flower arrangement can be decorated with the following interior elements.
- Windowsill. Most often, such decorations are replete with lights and garlands.
- Door. Of course, we are talking about wreaths.
- Table... Here, live spruce branches most often appear, because it is customary to put a vase of flowers on the table, and in winter they often use needles instead of flowers.
- Small furniture - bedside tables, shelves, bedside tables. Any surfaces that you want to decorate can be decorated with small Christmas baskets with various contents.
- Fireplace... Now many people put fireplaces not only in houses, but also in apartments. The electronic versions have a very beautiful design, accompanied by sound effects, and a given lighting program creates a full feeling of real fire. It would be silly not to decorate such an iconic place with New Year's attributes.
Moreover, the ikebana can be placed both on the fireplace lid and create a composition in a festive sock suspended over the "fire".
Now that you have decided on the location, you can begin to analyze the elements that can be part of the ikebana. They can be conditionally divided into 3 categories: natural, natural raw materials, homemade jewelry and artificial elements. Based on this classification, we will choose the finishing options.
What can you use in your work?
Natural elements
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is live spruce and pine branches. They will not only become an excellent decoration and fully convey the feeling of a holiday, but also fill the house with a pleasant pine aroma.
The next "ingredient" is the bumps. They will look great both in their natural color and slightly tinted. Any dense, dense texture, from ordinary gouache to persistent shadows from a women's cosmetic bag, is suitable as a paint. An unpaved field for your imagination.
We will characterize another natural decoration as plant twigs. Yes, spruce can also be attributed here, but they often act as the basis of the composition, but you can add emphasis with the help of a branch of dry physalis, cotton or berries.
Also, fruits can be attributed to natural materials, and both fresh and dried are suitable. Oranges and lemons, neatly dried and cut into slices, star anise flowers, vanilla and cinnamon sticks ... All these elements can be used to create a very interesting composition, and all this is very easy to do at home.
In addition to the basic elements of ikebana, use hemp, natural fabrics for decoration, lace ribbons in natural linen color and wicker baskets.
The main advantage of such natural jewelry is that it is almost impossible to overdo it with them.
All elements will go together with each other, even if you make the ikebana too intense. Feel free to experiment and not be afraid to make a mistake.
Artificial decor
All of the above elements that relate to natural jewelry can be easily performed in plastic. It will last longer, but it will not delight you with its natural aroma and freshness. As for decorations that are not of natural origin, there are a huge number of them: Christmas balls of all colors and sizes, bells, artificial snow, ribbons, toys of different shapes, tinsel and rain, candles and, of course, garlands.
I would like to pay special attention to lighting solutions in the compositions. Any, even the most ordinary-looking composition can be revived with the help of the play of light and shadow.... Now on sale you can easily find garlands that are powered not from an outlet, but from batteries, such light strips are very mobile and allow you to use themselves even for a wreath on the door, even for a table composition in a basket.
Original ideas
Often, New Year's ikebana, especially the central table composition, is decorated with curly pastries. You can make gingerbread in the shape of a Christmas tree, stars, Christmas tree decorations. Decorate the vase or basket with pine twigs, add a neat garland or place a candlestick with a candle (preferably high to avoid fire) and decorate the ikebana with cookies and sweets instead of toys. A decoration and a dish at the same time - a universal solution.
In addition to baking, you can make crafts out of cardboard, foil, or heavy paper. In the craft style, such crafts look very cute, and even a child can make them. Try family fun for an interesting decorative element. If you yourself find it difficult to come up with an original idea, look for master classes on the Internet.
They will tell you in detail how you can make an unusual piece of jewelry from scrap materials.
Consider several options that you can easily and simply create at home with your own hands.
Simple ikebana in 5 minutes
A spectacular option, over which you do not need to rack your brains for a long time. To work, you will need a vase, bowl, pot or basket. Use containers of any shape and color. In this case, a classic white vase is taken as a basis. We suggest filling it with either artificial or natural dry branches, which can be painted with gouache for the entourage. Add different balls to the branches that match your interior in colors.
In this case, a composition in cold winter tones is used.
If you wish, you can add a garland to such an ikebana, which will give a special charm to the interior in the evening and at night.
Composition of natural jewelry
Since this is still ikebana and it is made in the traditional version of fresh flowers, it would be logical to make a winter version using natural raw materials. We recommend using a wicker basket or wooden box as a base. The plastic at the base will look ridiculous.
Take live spruce, pine branches, or larch. To fix the branches, we recommend using a floral sponge or foam flore. You can also use thin wire or thread to set the direction you want.
Next, let's move on to the decoration. In this case, natural lemons and oranges were used. If you decide to put not only whole, but also sliced fruits, do not forget to update the composition in time so that it does not lose its freshness.
Additionally, you can decorate ikebana with hypericum (perennial red berries), cotton twigs, brunia or simple cones.
New year wreath
And the last option, which I would like to dwell on, is the New Year's wreath. For the framework, use:
- thick cardboard that can be upholstered with fabric (fabric can be sewn or used for fastening with a construction stapler);
- dry branches, woven like a wreath;
- a wire base, which you will subsequently decorate;
- some folded the newspaper in a dense layer, pulling it with a string.
Once you've prepared the base, you can start securing branches, jewelry, and toys using thread, wire, or glue. In addition to balls, bells, ribbons, cones, flowers and New Year's toys, the wreath can be decorated with light elements. It always looks impressive.
Feel free to use different textures and experiment with colors.
The main thing is not to forget about the New Year's mood, which should increase both in the process of creating ikebana and after it appears at home.
