The time parents devote to their child is invaluable, so many people try to spend it usefully, for example, reading fairy tales to children, drawing pictures together or putting simple origami figures together. There is another interesting activity that can reveal a talent for creating sculptures in a kid - modeling from plasticine. In this article, we will describe a method for creating Sean the sheep and some simple ways to sculpt a sheep.

How to make Shawn's cute lamb?

Perhaps the best activity for children is to step by step mold a character from a favorite cartoon, for example, Sean the lamb, out of plasticine. This activity simultaneously develops fine motor skills of the hands, develops the imagination and allows you to create a homemade toy. By sculpting with your child, you will give him unforgettable memories and show your love.

To mold Shaun's lamb, you don't need a lot of multi-colored pieces of plasticine - white and black are enough. Let's take a closer look at all the materials necessary to create the figurine:

  • white and black plasticine;
  • plasticine knife;
  • matches or toothpicks;
  • a piece of wire or hairpin;
  • sculpting board (plywood or plastic sheet).

With the right materials and tools ready, you can begin the creative process. Let's take a step-by-step look at each step of creating a cute Shaun the lamb.

  • First, you should prepare the body of the future character. - soften half of a plate of white plasticine, warming it between your palms, and roll an oval out of a soft material using a board.
  • Now create the lamb's head - it should be no more than 1/3 of the body size. Cut off the required amount of black plasticine with a knife, warm it and form an oval out of it.
  • Roll two balls the size of a small bead out of white plasticine, and from black - two balls the size of small beads. it Sean's eye blanks.
  • Use a match on the lamb's face to make small indentations where the eyes will be located... Do not place them too wide - leave a small distance between the eyes so that the proteins do not touch. With a knife, press down the white ball so that it flattens slightly, and attach it to the intended place, do the same with the second white element. The black balls are the pupils of the lamb, attach them on top of the white plasticine proteins.

At this stage, you can direct the character's gaze in different ways - place the pupils exactly in the middle of the squirrel, look down, to the side or up.

  • Squeeze two small indentations on the other end of the oval. - these are the nostrils of Sean the sheep.
  • Blind small pieces of black plasticine ears, to do this, roll elongated ovals from two identical pieces, then slightly push the middle with your finger - this will be the inner side of the ear. Attach the ears to the crown of the lamb so that they protrude slightly to the sides and are turned with the inner side down. Using your finger, gently pull a part of the plasticine from the ear towards the head so that it “floats” to the top of the head - this way the ears will hold tight.
  • Roll into balls from two pieces of plasticine the same size as the ears. Attach one of them to the back of the body - this is Sean's ponytail. On the second ball, make one of the sides flat and attach the piece to the top of the lamb between the ears, as if putting on a hat on it.
  • Now depict wool on the white elements of the figurine, for this take a hairpin or make a loop of wire. Using a folded edge, create semicircular dents on the body, cap and ponytail in a chaotic manner.
  • Use a match to attach the head to the body. - to do this, first carefully insert the match into the side of the head, a little closer to one of the narrow sides of the oval. Then gently insert the second side of the match into the body of the lamb so that the crown is slightly higher than the back of the animal.
  • Cut four identical rectangles from black plasticine - these are the future legs of the character. Soften the pieces, smoothing out the rough edges, and press down the bottom edge of each piece to form flat hooves. Press down on the top edge too, but not so hard, just to get a flat edge.
  • Insert a match or half of a toothpick with the blunt side into each leg. Use a match to mark the figures on the tummy where the legs should be located. Insert the legs into them with the sharp sides of the toothpicks and lightly press the plasticine against Sean's tummy.

After completing all the stages of modeling, you and your baby will get a lot of fun and a cute toy that will decorate the nursery.

It is not necessary to follow the instructions exactly, if you want to make some elements differently - feel free to bring your ideas to life. Shaun the sheep's wool can be made differently, for example, smear the body, tail and "cap" with PVA glue, and then attach pieces of cotton wool to these places. You can also involve your dad in the creative process so that he makes a wire frame for sculpting the character - then it will turn out to be an exciting activity for the whole family.

Modeling a beautiful lamb

To mold a cute lamb, you can take the master class described above as a basis and add several new details or sculpting methods to it. You can also change the color palette of the clay, for example, change the color of the coat to gray, and the hooves and heads to brown. We suggest considering several options for sculpting a sheep.

  • Sheep with curly wool. To do this, blind exactly the same animal as in the master class described above, and then roll a long thread from white or gray plasticine. Cut the string into small pieces and roll them into spirals.Attach such details to the back and head of the lamb, and make the tail from a small piece of brown plasticine.
  • A lamb with horns. To make a lamb out of a lamb, it is enough to attach a couple of interesting horns to it. To do this, take black or brown plasticine and roll two long pieces - thicker at the beginning and thinner at the end. Roll these pieces into a spiral, similar to the shell of a snail, and attach them just behind the lamb ears.
  • Sheep with plain wool. It is difficult for the youngest children to create wool from spirals, so you can cover the body of the animal with small balls. Place the balls tightly to each other, and such a lamb will turn out to be as cute as a curly one.

Useful Tips

Modeling sheep from plasticine requires perseverance, not every child is ready to sit in one place for an hour or more and sculpt small details of wool, so parents need to help their baby. It is best to show the kid all the stages of modeling, but he must create the figure himself so that he can admire the work done with his own hands.

When the creative process is complete, place the figurine in a prominent place in the child's room so that he can see the results of his work - this can inspire him to sculpt again.

After completing the work, you need to wash your hands with soap and warm water so that there are no traces of plasticine on the skin.
