How to mold a plasticine frog?
If you decide to engage in the creative development of your child, pay attention to the technique of modeling from colored plasticine. Such activity acquaints the baby with simple forms, develops fine motor skills and imagination. For educational purposes, it is recommended to start with familiar and understandable images - animals, plants - that the child has already seen. In this article we will tell you how to mold funny frogs from plasticine.
Simple option
If you ask a child what color the frog is, he, without hesitation, will answer: green. Of course, in nature there are a variety of species of these amphibians, but it would be best to mold a frog from green plasticine. This will make the work clearer and more understandable for the child.
You can mix different blocks of material, kneading in warm hands, to achieve the desired shade.
For example, if there is very little green left, add yellow, blue, brown to it. In this case, you can both completely mix the pieces and achieve uniformity, or leave some nice stains.
The simplest and most elementary frog is molded in just a couple of minutes. Very young creators can cope with such a craft, even in the initial groups of a kindergarten.
- Roll a ball, attach to it two small circles of plasticine of a contrasting color - eyes. Draw a mouth with a stack or nail.
- Roll up two sausages, fold them into loops and attach them to the sides - these will be the legs.
- Place the frog on a plasticine circle for stability.
For older children, there is a slightly complicated option. There are a little more anatomical details here, but there are still no labor-consuming elements, so that the process will only bring joy.
- Form the body of the craft from a plasticine ball.It can be stretched slightly, outlining the neck, and the bottom is left wide and rounded.
- Roll another round from a piece of smaller diameter, slightly flattening it. This will be the face of the toy, place it on top.
- From white or yellow, lighter plasticine, make two small circles - eyes. In animation, the eyes are often portrayed as bulging, extending beyond the boundaries of the muzzle.
- You can either draw a mouth with a sharp stick or form it from a thin red flagellum. Let the figurine smile, or maybe stick out its tongue - at your discretion.
- To make the legs, we need two thick plump cylinders. We attach them to the body in front, smoothing the seam. From the end, we slightly flatten and use a stack or scissors to cut the triangular fingers.
- For the hind legs, roll up the sausages that are narrower and longer. We bend one edge in the manner of the number 2 and attach it to the sides of the body. We also flatten the free end and shape the fingers.
- Additionally, you can attach a small ball to the tip of each finger, as is often done in cartoons.
A simple and unpretentious frog is ready!
Other Figures
Since many children are familiar with frogs from animated films, you can repeat the most popular images together. Or endow funny characters with additional attributes, as if inventing a story and an occupation for them.
This activity is recommended from the age of 5-6 years. You can give a real master class for the kids, showing a step-by-step example of how to sculpt a figurine, and helping in case of difficulty.
Frog Artist
It is often said about these amphibians that they are bog artists. Such a nickname frogs received for real croaking concerts in the evenings. Therefore, it will be interesting to dazzle the artist-frog, for example, borrowing the image from the classic cartoon about Thumbelina.
- For the torso, we need a large ball of green plasticine. We form from it something that looks like an egg.
- Now we roll out the yellow plasticine with a rolling pin or an empty bottle into a thin layer. We cut out a small circle from it - you can use a stack, a knife or a can lid. We stick a circle over the body in the lower part and draw the navel with a sharp stick.
- For the head, we use a ball 2-3 times smaller than the main one. Let's flatten it like a lemon. The chin can also be highlighted with yellow plasticine.
- Since the croak will sing, use a red circle for the mouth. You can additionally "drown" it in your head, having made a deepening there in advance. Optionally, depending on the size of the craft, draw a tongue with a toothpick or stick it on the outside altogether.
- Roll the yellow plasticine into two small balls and place on the sides of the head. Stack a little black plasticine on the sharp edge and press the pupils inside the balls.
- Roll the green block into two cylinders, give them an oval shape. Then repeat, but for smaller diameter cylinders. Connect them with the first at an acute angle - these will be folded hind legs. For stability it is better to add feet: oval "cakes". Secure the legs on either side of the torso by smoothing the seams.
- We make the front legs thin, with oval tassels at the end.
- Since our frog is an artist, a musical instrument will not interfere with it. We sculpt two balls of different sizes from brown plasticine, flatten them and connect them together. Now add a handle from a thick strip - the guitar is ready, it remains to scratch the strings on it.
Try on the resulting tool in front of the figure and only then fasten the front thin legs.
Princess Frog
Perhaps the most memorable image. You can choose any pose for such a toy, but you must invariably endow it with the main attribute - a luxurious crown.
We blind the character while waiting for the prince from the fairy tale with our own hands step by step.
- We form two balls from green plasticine, connect them and stretch them slightly, smoothing the seams, until we get a pear-shaped shape.
- We repeat the same thing, but in a smaller size - this will be the head. Using a plastic card or a knife, cut the mouth on the narrow part, fill it with red plasticine.
- Create eyes from two white circles and place them on the front of the face.
- Since the frog princess is a girl, you can additionally decorate it with "make-up". From thin ropes of red, lips around the mouth will be obtained, and black thin lines will become eyelashes. Choose the eye color of your enchanted princess to your liking.
- Roll up two medium-thick cylinders, loop them and attach to the sides. Now you need to attach feet from flattened ovals to the legs.
- From thin flagella, make a blank under the arms, supplying them with brushes.
- Now it's time to get into attributes. A toothpick with a triangular tip turns into an arrow of Ivan Tsarevich. We put it in the hands of the frog and carefully attach it to the body. We sculpt a small crown from yellow plasticine. Roll it into a strip and cut the teeth with a knife or a stack. Now we will twist the resulting "fence" into a ring and decorate the headdress with colored semi-precious balls. You can use beads, sequins, or foil. Let's put the crown on the princess's head - the craft is ready!
Cheerful
Different techniques are used to add fun to the toy. For example, a face expression. To make a smile, roll the red plasticine into a cake and cut a semicircle out of it. For a laugh, you can add a protruding tongue or a tooth on top - it looks very funny.
To make the frog's gaze perky, try to place the pupils not strictly in the middle, but on the side or on top. The expression "face" can come out very silly and funny if you roll the pupils "into a bunch" in the middle of the eyes.
Pose also affects the mood of the craft. Blind the torso and head, decorate the muzzle in any way you like. Now form four legs out of plump cylinders - and direct them in different directions. The joyful frog is ready!
With cones
Together with plasticine, you can use natural materials to diversify the texture of the figurines. For example, typing beautiful cones in the forest, you can make an interesting craft out of them. Sculpting with additives will diversify your leisure time and is perfect for beginners.
- The largest and most spreading bump will become the body. With the help of plasticine, we attach a smaller cone to it - the head. We form two eye balls from white or yellow plasticine and insert them between the branches. A red tourniquet works best for the mouth.
- Long, green colored braids will help make the legs. Insert them symmetrically into the hollows of the cones, securing them with a long stick.
Beforehand, you can paint the forest gifts with gouache. A cute toy with your own hands from improvised means will be an excellent gift for your family from a child.
On the lily pond
Frogs live on water. Therefore, it will be logical and original to create a composition with a pond and water lilies.
- On the cardboard base, spread the blue plasticine in a thin layer without gaps. You can paint waves or ripples on the water.
- Roll out the green plasticine on the board and use the stack to shape it into a water lily leaf. They look like an apple in cross-section, round with a notch at the edge. Use a toothpick to squeeze out the lines on the leaf. You will need one large leaf on which the frog will sit, but you can make a few more smaller ones for beauty. Place the leaves on the water surface.
- Blind a simple frog. A round body, flagellar legs and two curious bulging eyes, a cheerful mouth. Place him on a large water lily.
- Now you need to decorate the picture with lilies. To do this, we sculpt a ball from white or pink plasticine - the base of the flower. Now form some drop-shaped pieces and flatten them. We attach the petals on all sides of the base ball, bending the edges beautifully. Place the resulting lilies next to the water lily leaves.
With chestnuts
In addition to pine cones, you can create interesting crafts from chestnuts. Be careful not to injure yourself on the sharp needles. They can be pre-trimmed with nail scissors and painted green.
A large chestnut tree will make a funny frog with pimples. Stick eyes, mouth on it, form paws.
If you have a lot of these fruits, then fasten one large chestnut and one smaller one with plasticine.
Peeled chestnuts also make good and durable, heavy crafts. They can be completely covered with plasticine.
Often in the fall, peeled chestnuts are sold in stores, so you don't even have to look for them on the street.
Helpful hints
To prevent the plasticine from spreading from the heat of your fingers, small parts can be sculpted in water. Prepare a bowl of cool liquid in advance and dip the pieces into it to chill.
Any objects from everyday life are suitable as tools for sculpting. For example, it is convenient to use an empty bottle or bottle like a rolling pin. Instead of a plasticine knife, a plastic card or metal ruler will work. Popsicle sticks will replace stacks, and skewers, toothpicks, knitting needles will help to apply the pattern.
Heavyweight woven fabric can help give texture to shapes. Wrap a plasticine ball with a matting or embroidery canvas and squeeze lightly so that the textile pattern is imprinted on the workpiece.
Feel free to experiment with additional decorative materials. Plasticine is malleable and retains its shape for a long time, so various beads, buttons, beads can be useful. You can mix glitter directly into the clay to make it brighter.
Get creative on a sheeting. This could be an old towel, a piece of cardboard, or a board. This will protect the interior from contamination. This is especially true for carpets: picking out a stuck and crushed piece of plasticine from the pile is not a pleasant task.
