The main sculpting tool is clay. But children, as a rule, begin to comprehend this art from plasticine - a material more accessible and convenient for beginners. It is not for nothing that psychologists talk about "intelligence at their fingertips": it is useful for children to engage in creativity or construction, requiring the activation of fine motor skills, not only to stimulate the development of speech. This forms the intellectual potential in general, and also helps to calm down, throw out energy, feel the joy of being involved in creativity. However, modeling is useful not only for children, for parents it is also a good way to distract themselves.

Tools and materials

To date, modeling from plasticine is the most affordable, although "competitors" are stepping on her heels. We are talking about polymer clay or denser types of modeling dough. And yet the classic types of plasticine are the best start for a child. Today, their variety is impressive: from standard 8, 12, 18 colors to huge sets with variations in shades. They sell plasticine with sequins, which is not suitable for everything, but children really like it.

What else is needed for sculpting.

  1. Rug or board. This is so that the work surface does not suffer - plastic rugs and boards are cheap, are used many times, and they also teach children to create a work field and be more accurate.
  2. Cloths for cleaning the workplace and hands. Also a matter of hygiene and cleanliness. The sooner the child gets used to the fact that it is he who is responsible for cleanliness while working with art material, the sooner it will become a habit. These can be flannel wipes or wet wipes.
  3. Stacks. They are needed in order to cut plasticine, as well as to give surfaces a certain characteristic shape. For example, a stack will help the detail become wavy, or, conversely, perfectly smooth. He can put all kinds of dents on the stucco material. Plasticine sculpting stacks are made of plastic, they are lightweight and safe. You can prick with them (if you try very hard), but cut yourself - no.
  4. Plastic scissors. Help cut plasticine. Not the most necessary thing, but can be included a priori.
  5. Molds for stamping. They work on the principle of cookie cutters. More interesting to the smallest.

Everything else is optional. Sometimes beads, buttons, beads, sequins and other decor are used to decorate the work, which can detail the plasticine craft.

Blue bird sculpting

The easiest option for kids is to blind one of the heroes of Angry Birds, a blue flycatcher. More precisely, there are 3 blue birds: Jay, Jim and Jake. These are funny heroes who constantly play opponents.

For work you will need: blue plasticine (you can blue), a modeling board.

The process is step by step.

  • A piece of blue plasticine must be kneaded in your hands, and then divided into 3 servings. Roll up 3 balls. If there is an opportunity to find a piece of wool or a feather for tufts, it will be great. If not, you can dazzle them too.
  • Each blue bird has 2 feathers in a tuft. They must be joined together (as if in a comb) and the tuft must be attached to the tops of the head.
  • Now it's time to make evil eyes, namely evil ones, because this is Angry Birds. Pupils from black plasticine can be displaced to different places of white flat eyeballs and see what kind of effect you get.
  • After that, the eyelids should be fashioned from orange plasticine, for this stripes are formed. The eyelids are made both lower and upper.
  • It's time to attach a sharp beak to the central part of the muzzle. But not very long, otherwise the recognition of the image will not be so obvious.
  • The modeling scheme ends with the formation of a tail, which consists of two black stripes-feathers.

How to make a bullfinch?

Bullfinch is one of the most beautiful birds adored by children. Among the wintering birds, try to find it more beautifully, and then even a molded bullfinch will delight the eye.

For work you will need: black, gray, white and red plasticine, plastic stack, spatula, match.

How to sculpt a bullfinch in stages.

  • The central part - the torso - should be black. Then details are gradually glued onto it: tail, wings, small blotches of gray and white.
  • In the hands, you should thoroughly knead the black plasticine, forming a full body. It should be large, because bullfinches, tousled in the cold, always look deceivingly plump. You need to roll the plasticine in a lump, smooth it with your fingers, while simultaneously pulling the material in two places opposite to each other - this is necessary to indicate the head and neck.
  • Now it's time to work with a different color. You cannot proceed to this until you wipe your hands with a damp cloth. A piece of red plasticine should be turned into a flat cake. And this cake is attached to the breast of the bullfinch. You need to do the same with the gray color, only the gray cake will go down.
  • A thin black triangular tail must be extended. The upper tip of the tail, which is narrower, needs to be glued on the back, followed by smoothing out the seams.
  • Next, switch to the wings - they should be proportional to the bird's body. Oblong gray and black cakes are what you need. Black parts are glued to gray ones, small white feathers are glued to the black area of the wings. Each feather is secured with the sharp side of the stack. There will, of course, be two wings, they must be symmetrical.
  • Another gray cake is glued onto the back. All the details of the bullfinch are smoothed out so that its figure is perfectly even. A white stripe of plumage is attached to the back, almost at the head.
  • Wings are attached on the sides, pressed along the entire length so that they become streamlined. A small beak and eyes are glued to the muzzle.
  • Next, you need to make a green bump with black legs, from which the halves of matches stick out - they will be the "legs" of the bullfinch. A plasticine stand with matches is needed so that the bullfinch figure gains stability.
  • The abdomen is attached to the matches, pressed.

The plasticine figurine is ready!

Other options

To dilute the bird kingdom, you can sculpt a curious magpie, a bright parrot and a handsome peacock.

Magpie

To sculpt it, you will need: white and black plasticine, a drop of gray plasticine, a stack, a rug.

Algorithm of actions.

  • The magpie is considered a large bird, so you do not need to grind it. The figurine itself is black, but the sides, individual fragments and plumage are white. Black remains the main color; there should be a lot of this plasticine.
  • The main parts of a magpie are the torso and head. Two wings and a tail complement the figure, and therefore 4 balls must be rolled out of black plasticine, commensurate with the parts of what will be sculpted from them.
  • The round head and pear-shaped body need to be glued together. Soft plasticine stretches well with your fingers, the back of the body can be sharpened a little.
  • In the place where the parts are attached, the surface must be smoothed especially carefully with your fingers. The wing cakes are pressed down on top and then on the sides.
  • One side remains rounded, the other will be pointed. Then two identical wings are made. A thin splinter tail is pulled out. Two white thin cakes are being prepared and glued in front. The other two cakes are glued from the back with grabbing the sides. The tail is also fixed in place, the plasticine is smeared forward.
  • White oblong cakes are glued to the top of each wing. Now the stack comes in handy, with which the details are streaked, they should look like feathers. The bird's tail is processed in the same way.
  • A thin long beak, two eyes are glued to the head; details should not merge with the general background, so they can be made of gray plasticine.
  • The wings are glued on the sides, the soft plasticine is pressed down. The magpie is almost ready. From the lighter gray plasticine, it remains to form her paws. They are attached to the body.

As a result, it is not a small bird at all, it will not be easy for preschoolers to make it completely on their own, but with the help of adults they will master the molding of a magpie.

Parrot

To mold a chatterbox-parrot, you need plasticine of two or three (or more) bright colors. You will also need black, white and brown. A pointed toothpick is also useful in the work.

Parrot step by step.

  • Let's say this particular bird is yellow. Green wings and a tail will appear on top of the corpus luteum. Each stage of work begins with kneading the material; you need to shape the elements with your fingers.
  • The head remains just a round ball, but the body is pulled into a bullet, a sharpening must be made in the tail section. The details fit together to make one whole. Until the mass has frozen, the plasticine sticks well.
  • The skeleton of the figure is there, you can take up the muzzle. The eyes are standard: a white circle plus a smaller black pupil circle. The bird's beak will be sharp, lowered down.
  • Now you can grab the wings and feathers. You can take only green plasticine or complement it with other bright colors. Wings are formed from oval cakes, drawings on which are made with a stack or a toothpick.
  • The feet are brown, standard. This is plasticine with which the matches are glued. The parrot will not stand on other "legs".

The following video shows other ways to sculpt a parrot from plasticine.

Peacock

To make this handsome man, you will need: plasticine of bright colors, at least 5 different samples, a stack, wire, a match.

Sculpting stages.

  • You need to knead a block of blue plasticine. It is stretched so that a rather plump body is formed in the center, a thick neck goes up, and the tail part is flattened behind.
  • A small head is added to the neck (in a peacock it is really small). White cakes are glued on both sides of it, which will later become eyes.
  • An orange small beak is attached in front. Black strips are glued onto white cakes - this is how the plumage is set. Black eye-dots are glued. The head is done.
  • A tuft of black twigs, collected in a fan, is molded on the head. Only first, a blue ball is fixed on each twig. There will be 6 branches in the tuft. The peacock's wings are inconspicuous, they can be made from the same plasticine as the main part.
  • The most important thing is the tail, it is the most remarkable of this beautiful bird. You need two shades of the same color, for example, light green and dark green. From these shades, you need to make several dense droplets: smaller dark ones, and more light ones.
  • Closer to the wide part of the droplet, multi-colored cakes are glued, this work requires the greatest skill - you have to glue the smallest details.
  • Notches are made on the feathers with the sharp tip of the stack. It makes sense to glue all the feathers in a fan, so it will be easier to attach them to the base. At the base, on the body, you need to make many small balls. They can also be green, but not required.
  • The tail is attached at the back, next to these balls. Each point is pressed through by the head of a match.
  • The peacock also needs to be put somewhere. You can make a green circle-tubercle, decorate it with flowers, insert two matches inside this tubercle. These will be the "legs" of the peacock, on which the body is then planted.

Children aged 5-6 can try making this and other birds. Children at 3-4 years old still cannot cope with this, but they are already learning simple options, sculpting a bird in a nest, etc.

Any of these MCs can be modernized and improved, come up with author's comments and corrections. You can play with colors, add rainbow clay, use glitter clay, etc.
