Stylish heterogeneous colors with each season do not give up their positions, on the contrary, they are becoming more and more popular. Coloring on black hair looks especially impressive and gives expressiveness to the image. This coloring looks great regardless of the length of the strands, they can be long, short, medium length. Colors and shades are also incredibly diverse: dyed strands are made out in white, red and other options.

    What is it?

    First of all, you should figure out what is included in the concept of coloring. From the name it is clear that such coloring uses 2 or more shades... The maximum number of tones can reach several tens, while they can be similar in color or contrasting... The coloring technique differs from highlighting in that the strands are not lightened, namely, they are dyed, while partially selected strands are processed. All trendy techniques like shatush, ombre, balayazh also refer to coloring.

    It is very important to choose the shades correctly so that the overall composition is harmonious.

    Varieties

    There are several types of staining using the coloring technique.

    • Horizontally. It is also called transverse coloring, it is possible to use no more than 3 tones in it. In this technique, the strands are separated from each other into 3 parts horizontally: roots, middle and bottom. The tones are selected as follows: as dark as possible at the roots, the middle and bottom are lighter.

    For brunettes, you can safely leave a natural shade at the root part.This option is economical as it does not require quick re-staining and does not harm the roots.

    • Vertical or longitudinal coloring... Here the possibility of using shades is widest, their number is practically unlimited. The strands are separated along and colored alternately. The transitions are uneven, they can be contrasting, asymmetrical.
    • By zones. Here, a certain area is selected, which is colored: bangs, ends, back of the head, whiskey.
    • Patterned and stencil. They are carried out using special devices made in the form of a stencil, it is applied to the strands and painted. Among the fashionable prints: animalistic, geometric. Short black strands are the perfect backdrop for this type of coloration.

    Advantages and disadvantages

    Coloring on dark strands has both a number of advantages and some disadvantages. Among the advantages are:

    • the opportunity to refresh the image;
    • expressiveness of the composition;
    • the right choice of color and technique will help rejuvenate and correct the face;
    • curls seem more voluminous and thicker healthier;
    • a variety of choices gives you all the possibilities for changing your image and experimenting;
    • spares hair roots;
    • there is no need to frequently adjust the staining.

    There are also disadvantages, they must be taken into account:

    • black strands require aggressive lightening, which does not in the best way affect the condition of the ends;
    • the procedure is expensive and requires a serious level of professionalism;
    • most often, daily styling is required, otherwise the effect disappears;
    • the need to use special products for dyed curls;
    • contrasting coloring cannot be painted over in monochrome, if desired;
    • black hair has limitations in the choice of shades, not all are suitable for them;
    • not suitable for curled curls, during the treatment of strands and changes in hormonal levels.

    Choosing a shade

    The canonical is the technique in which dark strands are lightened near the face. Moreover, the use of different shades gives completely different results and effects: you can add or drop a dozen years, emphasize both the advantages of the face and the shortcomings. Therefore, it is so important to choose the right color palette. The easiest way is to rely on face color type.

    It is defined as follows: take two pieces of fabric of warm peach and cool pink tones and apply to the chest. Compare which of them makes you younger, more expressive, and which mutes. From this proceed, winter or autumn range closer to you. The second way is the color of the veins on the elbow bend, if it has a green tint, you are closer to autumn, blue and lilac speak of a winter color type.

    Most often, black hair characterizes the winter type, which gets along well with cool scales: platinum, silver, pearl, steel... Black and chestnut strands are more characteristic of the autumn type, therefore, it is better to choose warm shades: beige, gold, copper and honey, wheat, sand.

    Raven strands are extremely difficult to lighten. To avoid the use of aggressive products, it is better to color the strands in tones close to natural: chestnut, chocolate, coffee, cinnamon with honey. Also interesting are options with berry-wine palettes, eggplant. For a spectacular hairstyle, it is enough if the color differs by a couple of shades from the native one.

    If you like bold, extravagant details in an image, you can try coloring by contrast... However, this method has age restrictions; it does not suit mature, status ladies.

    Transitions can be sharp or more blurry.

    Among the contrasting shades, it is best to stop at blue, red, purple. Red suitable for dark-skinned and visually add volume to the strands. Blue often selected to highlight the bangs. Purple not suitable for warm type, combines well with lilacs.If your look allows for bold experiments, pay attention to the fashionable pink range, which is very rich in cold and warm shades.

    Black strands look incredibly good when dyed horizontally, wide longitudinal stripes will visually make the hair more voluminous. In this case, the transitions can be both gradient and clear. Among fashion trends the following combinations can be distinguished:

    • merlot, marsala and eggplant - both separately and in alternation with plums, chocolate, chestnuts;
    • short strands look great in contrasting coloring with bright colors;
    • glare coloring, a cross between ombre and highlighting, in which the ends remain the lightest.

    Features for different lengths

    Long strands give more options for coloring. Medium length The following options look impressive:

    • the impression of burnt-out ends;
    • highlighting the finest strands that differ from the native color by tone;
    • bright gradient;
    • natural coloring leaving the natural zone at the roots;
    • highlighting strands lighter or darker than natural ones;
    • wide gradient;
    • blonding.

    Short haircuts will be most effective in the following interpretations:

    • coloring by zones;
    • highlighted bangs;
    • multitonality;
    • by stencil;
    • contrasting.

    If the strands are short, it is best to avoid a lot of bright colors, otherwise the effect may be reversed.

    For medium lengths, it is recommended to use about 7-8 shades.

    Care after coloring

    The frequency of correction and methods of care depend on which coloring method is chosen. Since any staining negatively affects the condition of the strands, after them you need take proper care of:

    • shampooing should include the use of conditioners;
    • regularly make masks for colored strands;
    • use coconut or argan oil;
    • cover your curls in the solarium and on the beach;
