About breed
The first mention of this breed dates back to 43 AD during the landing of legionnaires on the coast of Britain. In 1982, after a long selection, standards for this breed were approved. The cat of the British breed is a large, muscular animal with a wide chest, with an elegant short and thick coat. The head is large and round, with a short, powerful neck. The color of the eyes is amber-yellow, emerald, blue, they are surrounded by a dark border.
By nature, they are calm, balanced, docile, affectionate, benevolent aristocrats. They love people and are well suited for both singles and families with children.
The British get along well with other animals.
The subspecies and colors of this breed are diverse. With good care, they can live up to 20 years.
Colors
The color of the animals that appear in the commercial is called "tabby". This color has several varieties.
- Tiger color tabby - in the form of frequent, narrow, non-intersecting stripes throughout the body of the animal. On the legs and tail there is a pattern in the form of rings, and on the neck there is a "shirt-front".
- Spotted tabby - color in the form of circles and ovals, randomly located on the sides and back, contrasting with the lighter coat. Seals are very similar to leopards.
- Marble tabby - the color on the sides has clearly defined curls, rings, circles, and from the withers to the tail, the color is in the form of a dark stripe. The neck and tail are decorated with rings.
- Ticked tabby characterized by a color that smoothly transitions from one monochromatic shade to another, without a pattern. A "shirt-front" or stripes are allowed on the neck.
The main features of Whiskas cats are as follows:

- dark-bordered orange or yellow eyes and nose;
- three continuous lines on the back;
- pattern on the forehead in the form of the letter "M";
- there is a white spot on the back of the ear.
Care
Selection of tray and filler
If the cat knows where his toilet is, then both the owner and the pet will be happy.
There are many different trays on sale now. The most convenient is a simple plastic tray with a lattice.
Another important issue is filler. Some cats just need it to satisfy their instinct, but there are those who do not need it. In the process of acquaintance, of course, you will find out, but it is better to immediately purchase the filler. The granular version is best. All that is stained, you just need to remove with a spatula... Sand is, of course, cheaper for this purpose, but think about the cleanliness of the pet and the cleanliness of your home.
Washing
British cats are very clean and love to lick and clean themselves. They need help where they cannot get it. Namely, in cleaning the inner surface of the ears from wax and eyes using clean cotton swabs. It is recommended to bathe cats in warm water no more than 1 time in 3 months special shampoo for short-haired cats. You can use dry shampoo. The nails should be trimmed as they grow.
Combing
Slowly teach the cat to comb: do not frighten, do not hurt, do not squeeze. Talk to him - explain what you are doing... Choose a comb with rounded edges or natural bristles. You need to comb it once a week, and every day when shedding. And as a result, it will bring incredible pleasure to both you and the cat. If suddenly a strong molt has begun, contact your veterinarian, this is not typical for this breed.
Feed
The British Shorthair breed tends to be overweight. You need to play with animals and monitor their nutrition. According to the recommendations of veterinarians, they should be fed with high-quality food in certain portions. Food and canned food from different manufacturers should not be mixed with each other. It is necessary to add vitamin and mineral complexes to food. Access to clean drinking water must be permanent.
Health
The British Shorthair is considered a healthy and hardy breed. Vaccinations begin at the age of 8-12 weeks and are recorded in the veterinary passport. Prevention of helminthiasis is carried out every six months. Any discharge from the eyes, ears, anus, bad breath is a reason to go to the veterinarian. If you take care and monitor the condition of your cat, he will delight you for many years.
