Description and conditions of keeping black oriental cats
Since ancient times, cats have been the favorites of people. In ancient Egypt, they were revered as sacred animals. There are fluffy cats and cats in almost every home these days. This article will focus on oriental black cats - an elegant oriental breed.
Description
Officially orientals, as a separate breed, were recognized and described only in 1974, although there is documentary evidence of their presentation at exhibitions at the end of the 19th century.
Close relatives of oriental cats are the Balinese and Siamese representatives of the feline tribe.
The appearance of the Oriental is very memorable: the head is of a regular triangular shape, on which huge eyes shine. They are also endowed with disproportionately large ears, while they have a long and thin tail, a slender, even graceful physique. The weight of cats of this breed rarely exceeds 5 kg, but cats are slightly inferior to them in size.
The coat is thick and short, its color varies from snow-white blue to black, and, like in ordinary cats, the color can be heterogeneous - stripes and spots are not at all a sign of an admixture of extraneous genes. The eyes are either blue, like those of snow-white beauties, or green with a tint of emerald.
Black oriental women are very attractive and mysterious. When such a favorite sits motionless, it is very easy to confuse him with an ebony statuette - his charcoal-black silhouette and eyes shining with "precious stones" are so graceful.
Among the advantages of oriental cats, one should also note a light affectionate character, a strong affection for the house and owners, and unpretentiousness.
How to contain?
If the owners took a black oriental kitten into the house, then you need to remember a few simple rules, which will be discussed below.
- There is no need to close it in the room and try to restrict movement - this kitten is very curious and does not recognize any obstacles.
- Oriental kittens, like adults of this breed, love to hang around people, so you need to be attentive and careful. This is especially true for owners of black kittens, which are easy to miss in the shade.
- It is necessary to teach him to brush his teeth from an early age - cats of this breed are prone to gum disease.
- You need to follow the diet drawn up by a veterinarian, but you should not be fooled by the kitten's thinness: Oriental are gluttons, and if they are not controlled in food, they will earn obesity, and then problems with the liver and kidneys.
Balanced dry food is considered the most suitable type of food for them.
- If the owner prefers natural food, then it is necessary to remember that you should not give the orientals raw fish and fatty meats - it is better to limit yourself to poultry or low-fat beef (veal). Fermented milk products are very useful for their digestion. As a source of vitamins, you can diversify their table with boiled vegetables and cereals.
- It is necessary to regularly check the kitten at the veterinarian - although the Orientals have good health, they have an innate tendency to hypertrophy (enlargement) of the heart, as well as to liver and kidney failure. Early diagnosis will allow the owner to cure it in case of a kitten's illness.
It is worth spending time with a small creature: it is necessary to communicate with the kitten. Representatives of this breed are very sociable, love to listen to the voice of the owner and can answer him (of course, in their own language).
Oriental kittens are very smart and observant. Having become older, they can easily open interior doors or wardrobe doors closed with latches-latches.
Useful Tips
Oriental cats hate bathing and are very clean themselves, so there is no need to bathe them unless absolutely necessary - neither the owner nor the pet will add positive emotions.
Eastern representatives of the feline tribe keep an eye on their appearance - their coat is almost always smooth and shiny. You shouldn't comb it too often - once a week is enough. To increase the shine of the hairs and the appearance of iridescent overflows after the owner has combed his pet, you need to run a velvet or suede rag several times over his skin.
Regularly, once every 3-5 days, you need to gently clean the delicate ears of the pet with moistened wipes or cotton swabs.
Oriental cats are very thermophilic, since they come from hot countries, and their short fur does not save from the Russian frosts. They catch colds easily, so you should maintain a warm and dry microclimate in the house and avoid drafts and dampness.
In the event that a long business trip is ahead, and the cat remains at home alone, do not rush to give it to a shelter or friends for a while. These oriental beauties can develop serious stress from a sudden change of scenery, coupled with the absence of an owner.
The best option is to ask neighbors or acquaintances to feed the cat at home, leaving them the keys.
