Cosmetics in carry-on baggage: what can and cannot be carried?

Personal hygiene products and familiar cosmetics are an essential part of any traveler. Back we are trying to bring our favorite perfumes, cosmetics of well-known brands, exotic creams. Each airline can separately dictate its own rules for the presence of cosmetics in hand luggage, but there are general requirements for the transportation of cosmetic accessories, they are almost the same for everyone. The main condition is compliance with safety on board.

You can take cosmetics in your carry-on luggage, but not all. The main thing to check before the flight (especially if it is to another country): what can be brought into the state where you intend to arrive, and what can be taken away from there.

If cosmetics are banned, it will not be possible to transport them even in your luggage, let alone carry them on board. The violator will not be allowed into the cabin of the airliner, he will have to hand over the unauthorized goods to a special point, or they will be forcibly confiscated from him.

The second step is to familiarize yourself with the list of cosmetic products that the airline allows for the flight. It so happens that one air carrier gives the go-ahead for some means, while another prohibits the same goods from being transported in the cabin of the aircraft. But there are general requirements for everyone.

• Solid cosmetics can be folded into a regular cosmetic bag, but all bottles, jars and other containers that contain liquid are packed in tightly resealable bags (with a zipper). This will make the content easier to verify and you will not be delayed.

• The volume of liquid contents that can be carried on an airplane is 1 liter. And this figure cannot be more.This includes not only perfumes and liquid medicines, but also creams, shampoos, gels, and other hygiene and cosmetic products.

• The purchased new item in Duty Free shops on the day of the flight is not attributed to the amount of liquid that you are taking from home. You just need to keep the receipt of the purchased goods to confirm.

• You will not be prohibited from taking any number of probes on board. Shampoo, perfumes, creams, packed in small doses, can be taken in hand luggage in unlimited quantities. In this case, no one will say anything during the check.

• If there is a third of the perfume left in the 200 ml bottle, you should not take it with you on the plane, there will be no one to prove that you are carrying only 60-65 ml. The rules state that the volume of containers for liquid should not exceed 100 milliliters. In fact, only 10 bottles can be transported.

• It is strictly forbidden to take on board especially sharp objects and aerosols. They are carried in the luggage compartment, including tweezers, not to mention nail scissors, tweezers, nail files. There are restrictions on aerosols - up to 2 liters.

Some airlines allow take-away aerosols, but only in a bottle up to 100 ml and scissors with a tip no more than 6 centimeters. It is forbidden to use pungent-smelling cosmetics in the salon. For example, if nail polish is allowed in hand luggage, this does not mean that you can use it on the plane.

All hand luggage fits into a bag of the following dimensions: 55 cm by 40 cm and a width of 20 cm. By weight - up to 15 kg, the exact figure can be obtained from the airline, it depends on the class of the cabin and the requirements of the carrier. In such a bag, you are allowed to carry with you:

• creams, toners, lotions, milk, balms, gels;
• perfume, lens cleaner, face serum, roll-on deodorant, lipstick;
• shampoos and hair care products, toothpaste;
• cosmetics in solid form (pressed): blush, shadows, antiperspirants, powder components for the face, body and hair;
• eyeliner, mascara.

To feel comfortable in flight, take napkins (you can also wet), they will allow a bottle of up to 100 ml with thermal water or antibacterial gel, a bottle of moisturizing cream, lip softening compounds, mascara, powder. It is recommended that you take with you samples of those products that you cannot do without. As you know, they are not included in the list of goods prohibited for carry-on luggage and will not cause any complaints during check.

You can get a travel kit consisting of 10 tight-fitting 100 ml containers. Having packed all the cosmetics in these jars and boxes, you can be sure that there will be no complaints from the airport security service against you. You will fit into the 1 liter that is allowed in carry-on baggage.

You can take any cosmetics and care products for your face, nails, hair, and oral cavity with you on the plane.

Carry-on baggage is carefully checked before the flight. Here's what is prohibited:

• anything under high pressure (hairspray, deodorants, aerosols);
• flammable products (acetone, nail polish remover and other similar liquids);
• manicure set;
• razors, blade sets, cutters;
• creams, eau de parfum, perfumes, shampoos and other cosmetic components, personal hygiene products in a volume exceeding 100 ml, in the total mass - exceeding 1 liter.

When going on the road, it is better to think carefully about what will really come in handy, find out what cosmetics the airline allows in hand luggage, and what you can leave at home and go through security without disputes. Please note that neither brand nor brand matters when it comes to transporting cosmetics in carry-on luggage.

If the rules for the carriage of hand luggage are violated precisely because of cosmetics, airline employees will give the opportunity to improve the situation:

• will be offered to check in the excess amount of goods, if this is allowed by the general rules of carriage;
• dispose of unnecessary cosmetic products that are not included in carry-on baggage on their own;
• hand over the seized cosmetics to the storage room and pick them up when returning home;
• return excess cargo to accompanying relatives.

You should be aware that passengers who violate the rule of transportation of cosmetics in carry-on baggage will be punished administratively, and if these violations are significant, then criminal liability may occur.

Airline employees are initially set for the peaceful settlement of controversial issues, try to be loyal and will do everything to resolve controversial issues calmly. If on the part of the passenger there is aggression and disobedience to the general rules, the flight safety service is allowed to prevent such a tourist from boarding the airliner.

• Part with a prohibited item by discarding it. This decision is not always easy, but it is better than not taking on board and ruining plans.
• If time permits and it is possible, prohibited products or excess cosmetics transfer to the luggage compartment bag.
• Use the postal service and send your favorite expensive cosmetic sets to yourself or your loved ones. Major airports have offices that provide much-needed service to passengers.

As a rule, no one wants to overshadow the upcoming trip and tries to comply with all the rules of the flight, but it so happens that due to ignorance, the requirements may be violated. You will always be provided with a way out to correct this situation.
