Carnival costumes for children
Everyone loves the masquerade! This is a great opportunity to try on the role of any hero and perform in a new way. Especially kids love fancy dress - when else will there be a chance to reincarnate in your favorite character? If your child has a holiday for which a carnival costume is required, it is worthwhile to approach the choice responsibly. The market today offers a lot of options for such costumes, and the holiday will be remembered by the baby for life, so it is important not to make a mistake with the choice.
Most often, children wear carnival costumes for the New Year's matinee. Everyone, perhaps, has photographs of the tree in the form of a Snowflake or a bunny. Preparing for such a holiday has always been incredibly exciting - you had to choose an image, think it over and assemble it, sometimes from scrap materials. Today it is not necessary to do this, since the stores offer a lot of options - who the child should be at the masquerade. Let's figure out what you can choose.
Peculiarities
Despite the fact that there are a lot of options for children's carnival costumes, some of their features can be distinguished. First of all, these are the details of the costume or what it consists of.
- Attributes. This is not an entire costume, but rather a hint of it. For example, if the child is in the image of Harry Potter, you can purchase a mantle and a magic wand, and trousers and a white shirt will harmoniously complement the image itself. The same applies to the image for a girl, for example, a butterfly. In the store you can buy beautiful shiny wings that can be attached to any elegant dress. A headband with antennae horns will be an addition, and the outfit is ready! This also includes all kinds of weapons - sabers for pirates, shields and swords for brave knights, pistols for police officers.
- Makeup. Some carnival costumes are immediately sold with a makeup kit because some characters have bright skin colors (such as Shrek or Bart Simpson) or other characteristics. Makeup is also required to create an animal costume - mustache and stripes for a cat or tiger, spots for a Dalmatian. For the role of a princess or a fairy, sequins or decorative rhinestones can be useful, for the role of a robber or superhero, you will need to draw courageous scars.
- Clothing. As a rule, these are costumes of recognizable characters that are difficult to sew on your own - Spider-Man or Superman, Winx fairy, Little Mermaid, Snow White and other heroes. Their clothes are unchanged and it is easier to buy a ready-made outfit than trying to assemble an image from similar things.
- A complete image. This is, so to speak, a "turnkey outfit" for which you only need to pick up shoes, although there are options where this is a key point - for example, Puss in Boots. Such costumes greatly simplify life, because parents do not need to cook anything, just iron the outfit and look forward to the holiday with their child.
Another feature of fancy dress is that you can not only buy but also rent them. This is quite convenient, given that the kids are growing up, and next year the kid can not only stop loving the hero, but simply grow out of last year's carnival costume. All sorts of agencies are dealing with this issue. But there is also a minus - the baby will not be vigilant so as not to tear or spoil someone else's thing, which means that if the probability is still to pay the full cost for the outfit. To spoil the holiday for a child, endlessly pulling it, worrying about clothes, is pretty stupid.
Fancy dress options
Masquerade costumes can be divided into three categories: according to the age of the child, on the occasion of the occasion, and according to gender - for a boy or a girl. Let's figure out what options exist.
For the little ones. If your child has barely learned to walk, or even spend the holiday in your arms, this is not a reason to give up the costume. The reason can be any - and a New Year's holiday, and a photo session, or just a theme party. A kigurumi suit is best suited for this case. This is a one-piece bodysuit in which the baby will be comfortable so that he will not even notice that he has tried on the role of some character.
Carnival kigurumi can represent anyone - from a cute animal, for example, a bunny, bear cub, penguin or kitten, to a muttered character, for example, a minion. There are superhero images for the little ones, as the sign of Batman or Captain America, Vander Wanman or Catwoman can be applied to any clothing.
A curious option would be a suit that imitates a product. The baby will look funny in the outfit of a mushroom or berry, a funny watermelon or strawberry. Parents with a sense of humor can dress up a child in a hamburger or hot dog costume.
Older kids can try on more detailed suits. Any animal that your little one likes will work well. It can be a hedgehog holding an apple on thorns or a fox in a red fur cape. Boys often like more "masculine" animals: lion or tiger, bear or wolf. Girls choose more gentle characters: a cat or a mouse, a butterfly or a ladybug.
For children aged three to five years, the costumes of characters from fairy tales may also be suitable. For a girl, it can be Vasilisa the Beautiful or Little Red Riding Hood, the Firebird or the Swan Princess, Thumbelina or Malvina. The role of a hero, Robin Hood or the brave Sinbad the sailor will suit the boy.
Of course, a big niche of carnival costumes is cartoon characters, first of all, Walt Disney. There can be a lot of options: adorable Mickey and Minnie Mouse, funny Pluto, funny Goofy or the mysterious Black Cloak. Girls are crazy about Disney princesses: Snow White or Cinderella, Rapunzel or Elsa.Ariel, Jasmine or Pocahontas can act as a heroine for a costume, especially since these characters have very beautiful, recognizable outfits.
There are also characters for boys in the Disney world: Aladdin or Peter Pan, Chip and Dale, one of the heroes of Winnie the Pooh.
Separately, there are heroes who love children of all generations - from the cartoon Cars, Winx Fairies, Paw Patrol, Finding Nemo, Doctor Plushev, Jake and the Other Pirates. The animators were able to make the images of these characters memorable and funny, so costumes based on their roles are popular.
Another fashion trend is the costumes of superheroes and other fantastic characters. True, they are mostly preferred by boys. These are Ninja Turtles, Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Iron Man or Bumblebee, Wolverine or Captain America. A little advice - if you choose a costume from this category, it is worth discussing with the parents of other boys what their child will wear to the holiday, so that there are no identical costumes.
Let's note a few more categories of costumes that can be suitable for both the New Year's holiday and for any other occasion:
- Angels, cupids and cherubs;
- Witches, devils and wizards;
- Dinosaurs and dragons;
- Various professions: cooks, policemen or magicians-illusionists;
- Variations for girls: Princess of the Night, Fairy of Dawn, Star Fairy;
- Bulky costumes: SpongeBob, Hulk, Transformers and others;
- New Year's costumes: Snowman, snowflake, Santa Claus helper, elf;
- Kigurumi costumes: Totoro, Stitch, Hello Kitty.
Selection Tips
For children over three years old, participation in choosing a costume is a great joy. If the outfit is not interpreted by the rules of the holiday, ask the child who he wants to be. As a rule, parents know which characters the kid likes the most and will be able to choose the right costume. Manufacturers are vigilant about what is fashionable for children, so there should be no problems with the purchase. The only thing worth paying attention to is the purchase timing. New Year is the "hottest" season in terms of carnivals, and if you visit the store late, it may turn out that all your child's favorite characters have already been sold out.
It is also important to consider the age of the child. Babies of two or three years old should be comfortable in a suit, an outfit that is too voluminous or hot will not fit such a baby, so it is highly likely that in a few minutes he will want to undress. You should not choose costumes for toddlers, where something is worn on the head - during the game, the child may drop the jewelry or it will prevent him from enjoying life.
When choosing a costume for an older girl, it is important that it takes into account the peculiarities of her figure. You should not buy an outfit that is too tight, with a large cut on the chest or back. Narrow long skirts that impede movement will also be uncomfortable. It is important to remember that the girl wants to look beautiful, so you should not advise her too modest and restrained costume - carnivals are created in order to create spectacular images!
It's easier with boys in this matter. They are more important about authenticity than the appearance of the costume. If the character that the child has chosen has a hat, sword or other paraphernalia, it must be mandatory, otherwise the child's mood will deteriorate.
The quality of the suit is also important. Despite the fact that a child can wear it only once in a lifetime, the requirements for this clothing are the same as for any other. First of all, it is important that the synthetic material does not cause allergies in the child - it is better if such a suit has a natural lining or you can sew it on yourself. Choosing a fancy dress, you should not put appearance more important than comfort - for example, fur outfits will "help" your baby to sweat, and too tight or bulky will prevent you from taking part in fun active games.
