Flowering plants of Crimea
Crimea is known for its amazing warm climate, thanks to which, in the middle of spring, not only trees begin to bloom here in large quantities. Not only flower beds in city parks, but also forest glades and botanical gardens are full of a variety of colors.
What trees bloom?
Driving through the peninsula in April, you can often come across numerous trees that bloom with white flowers. These are almonds, which are the first to notify about the onset of heat. A little later, other trees begin to join it, for example, plum and quince... Later early apple, cherry plum and pear. Wild relatives of these trees are connected at the edges of the forests, so the mountains stand in white.
This is the very time when rowan and hawthorn bloom, exuding an incredible aroma that attracts bees. In the private sector, where small gardens are planted, it is difficult not to hear the hum of insects. Some of the plants bloom profusely, covering the tree almost entirely with white or pink. But there are those that bloom very modestly, for example, pistachio.
The Judah tree also begins to bloom in April... It is difficult not to notice it among others, since purple flowers appear from the buds on the surface of the branches. The time comes when sakura blossoms, which is worth admiring in Yalta or Evpatoria, and it is not at all necessary to go to Japan. And even from April to May, in some reserves of the Crimea, you can observe a unique flowering of a plant from the Red Book - the Crimean pine.
April is the time for the magnolia to bloom. Its large bushes become the main decoration of most front gardens in the private sector.It is very important for allergy sufferers to know when ragweed is blooming, as its pollen is the first cause of respiratory problems. Its flowering period is usually in the fall.
What appears in the gardens?
Since the Crimean peninsula is rich in gardens, many tourists rush to enjoy their splendor in early spring. Mid-April is an amazing time for those who want to see tulips in abundance in their flower beds. Every year, breeders come up with and develop new varieties that delight with incredible shades and shapes.
Alpine hills are decorated with heathers; hellebore and periwinkle. Honeysuckle and lilac begin to bloom by the end of April along the alleys. Next to them flaunt cotoneaster and quince.
Daffodils are often placed next to tulips, and pansies and muscari are planted right there on the flower beds.
Urban landscape
Crimean cities are very beautiful not only because they have preserved historical architectural monuments on their territory. The administration tried to make the space as green as possible, so in April the squares become bright with tulips and other flowers. Flaunts under the sun yellow cleaner, can be found periwinkle, which pleases with its delicate blue tint. Daisies fit perfectly into this ensemble with pink and white color.
The most amazing place in Crimea during this period was Bakhchisarai. It is a garden city that truly lives up to its name. They strive to decorate not only city streets, but also areas in front of houses in the private sector.
Primroses are found in large numbers here in flower beds, they come in various shades:
- purple;
- white;
- red;
- pink.
By March 8, mimosa blooms here, as in the south of the country. Sprawling bushes and a bright shade of yellow become the main decoration of the area at this time.
What blooms in the forest?
Lavender blooms actively after a warm spring. On the territory of Crimea there are whole lavender fields. You can enjoy their incredible view from June to July. And at the end of May, the glades and forest edges seem to be burning from a large number of blossoming poppies. It is not so easy to guess when cyclamens will appear in the forests. The thing is that this flower appears with the first warmth, the earlier it comes, the faster you can see small flowers in the forest. Sometimes even snow melts in the meadows, and cyclamens are already delighting with their beauty. In March, you can already pick up a small bouquet, but sometimes even earlier.
Together with the cyclamen, it begins to bloom and forest peonyhowever, it does not have an exceptional "appearance", it is completely lacking in aroma. You can also meet snowdrops, lilies of the valley are becoming increasingly rare.
In small ravines, where enough sun hits, one can see coltsfoot. Woodpeckers, goose onions and crocuses can also be found in early spring in Crimea, but not high in the mountains. If you go higher, then you come across geranium and veronica, immediately blooms bought.
Oddly enough, but in the forests of the peninsula, you can also find orchids, which also appear at the end of April. There are other flowers that are found not only in tropical regions, for example:
- lyubka;
- limodorum;
- orchis;
- pollen head;
- slipper.
Some of them are under protection and are listed in the Red Book. If you wander a little through the forest, you can see how the Crimean peony blossomed, which is also called the Red Book here. For him, the very season, as well as for other wild representatives of peony. A truly magnificent view opens up near the village of Yantarnoye.
A different flora reigns in the steppes. People come here to admire Potentilla, forget-me-nots and poultry... When all these and other plants grow together, the result is an amazing carpet with lots of colors. Closer to the marshland in the spring, irises and cockerels have already bloomed. The former are usually purple, but there are also burgundy, the latter are bright yellow.
Many species of wild violets grow on the territory of Crimea.Some species have a pleasant blue tint, others are deep blue, and there are also white ones.
Poisonous plants
Any flower can be admired, but everything is worth touching with your hands. Among those that need to be bypassed, we note the following cultures.
- Black henbane. The plant grows no more than a meter in height. White flowers bloom on its bushes. I don't want to inhale the smell. Grows in groups near landfills. Flowering begins in May, fruiting in late summer.
- Datura. The plant is characterized by amazing large matte white flowers, but this beauty is deceiving. It is found not only in the fields, but also over roads and even near houses. It is always not a single plant, but whole thickets. The period of active flowering occurs in the middle of the summer season, the fruits appear in the form of small hedgehogs filled with seeds in the fall.
- Belladonna or deadly nightshade: A herbaceous plant with bright pink flowers. The fruits taste like cherries, but they are poisonous. The flower is listed in the Red Book. When used correctly, it can be beneficial, since it has medicinal properties, but the dosage must be calculated correctly. Often grows in the forest in small meadows, even on the banks of the river. Less commonly found as a solitary plant, more often in a group.
- Raven eye... A low flower, from the side resembles a blueberry, but this is not it. Likes to grow in the forest, where there is a lot of humidity.
- Aconite... The plant is characterized by bright blue flowers and is very dangerous.
- Colchicum. The plant grows small, flowers are of a delicate pink hue. Favorite place - open areas, including forest edges, glades.
- Fraxinella. A flower that can reach a height of about a meter. The flowers smell nice, from the side it is very similar to a citrus aroma. It is found in the forest, in the fields and even in the ravines.
- Hogweed. Lives on mountain slopes, sunny glades, in the forest you can see large thickets. It has a bad scent in flowers, and leaves burns in contact with the skin.
