Any tourist planning a vacation in Crimea asks the question of the swimming season. Holidays on the peninsula are so attractive because you can finally change the routine life in the city and the "work-home-work" regime for sightseeing of magnificent sights, swimming and passive relaxation on the beach under the warming sun.

Not to mention the positive effect of bathing and the saltiest seawater on the body, such a break from the same gray everyday life will benefit anyone, and many tourists expect the body to heal by arriving in Crimea on vacation or free days.

When can I go swimming?

The swimming season in Crimea is not so easy to determine, because a lot also depends on the tourists themselves: both the weather and the water temperature for each visitor vary from + 19 ° C to + 22 ° C as acceptable, and some at +25 ° C will not step into the water under any circumstances.

Nevertheless, for children, the water temperature suitable for bathing is indicated within + 25 ° C, and more often adults are guided by these indicators when they come with the whole family.

Doctors have determined the minimum water temperature for swimming is + 17 ° C, but most tourists will find this limit too cold. Some daredevils still bathe at this temperature as a hardening for the body and increase immunity.

Off-season features

Many people have the opportunity to escape to rest only in spring or autumn, and worry that they will not see the "tropical" mood.

However, it should be noted that from a financial point of view, holidays in October-November or on May holidays are the cheapest.

Crimean weather is warm, there are many discounts and few tourists, if this is important to you, and you come for a quiet pastime.

Only here warm days can change dramatically not in favor of vacationers.

Therefore, literally predicting weather conditions is not easy: right now, a short-term cold snap is likely. As a rule, the sea is still chilly at this time, although there are always people who want to swim, and many believe that the best vacation is in the off-season. If swimming is not your top priority on a trip, then exploring the surroundings and memorable places at this time will be unforgettable, and if suddenly the water temperature and weather conditions leave much to be desired, this moment will not darken the trip.

Beach season opening

It is traditionally believed that since May, the beach season is open, as there are already sunny days, but the sea water is still cool, about + 10 ° C. But this does not stop many at all, and you can see that there are many vacationers on the beach. By the end of the month, the water temperature will already reach + 20 ° CAccording to the natives, it is already necessary to have time to plunge at least several times for the vigor of body and spirit.

But, according to statistics, almost all tourists expect summer days to be able to fully sunbathe on the beach and swim in warm water.

According to the schedule, the swimming season opens in June, when the weather is rather hot - up to + 30 ° C, which allows you to thoroughly warm the water. June is a favorite month for rest - there is still no languid heat, and the influx of tourists is not quite huge, so a place on the beach with a couple of extra meters is guaranteed, and the water temperature is already + 20 ° C, which allows swimming.

Nevertheless, if you are interested in the peak season, when there are especially a lot of tourists, and this is exactly what you are looking for, then note the dates in July and August. There are, indeed, hot days, allowing the sea to warm up as much as possible. The water is already actually warm - + 25 ° C, and the sultry temperature crosses the border of + 30 ° C.

The water will literally amaze you in August - it stays warm both during the day and at night. If you are a lover of beach activities, then sit in the first row from the sea.

Remember that hot water is not always good, as overheating can occur in extreme heat. Keep this in mind when planning your trip, especially if you are coming with children or the elderly.

On the peninsula, the sea temperature is distributed rather unevenly - lower in the open sea, and even colder on the underwater currents, and it is very hot in the bays themselves.

Surprises in August

It seems that the ideal month for swimming is August, which is just made for a beach trip. Nevertheless, the swimming season even in July and August can unpleasantly surprise already seasoned tourists - suddenly overnight the water temperature can drop to + 10 ° C. It was upwelling.

Upwelling (from English upwelling) - the rise of the ocean depths to the surface, a usual “surprise” for the Crimea. It can last from 1 day to a week. With powerful gusts of wind, the heated water levels are carried far into the sea, bringing in return deep cold waters to the coast. Such "antics" occur from 1 to 3 per season, overshadowing some of the visitors to the beach plans. But one of the advantages is the remarkable fact that these coldest deep sea waters are very clear and replace the water at the beach.

It is also worth considering that the August holiday will not pass the rainy season, although it is difficult to predict with accuracy when the sky will be covered with clouds. If in July-August the sea is very rarely rough, then in August-September, as well as in May, it is not uncommon to rain.

Jellyfish can be found in the Black and Azov Seas, where the current brings them.

Although they do not pose a mortal danger, burns are unpleasant news, and sometimes they can completely alienate visitors from bathing.

If summer is not an option

If the opportunity to come in the summer is not foreseen, and the only free months are in September and later, then you should not be upset. Fly in the velvet season! The September sea is still warm and welcoming, and will only cool towards the end of the month. The days are still hot, but it gets colder towards evening.

Usually the swimming season in Crimea ends in early October, but if it is warm, then people swim almost all of October, but this already depends on the personal courage of the floating.

From the extreme, it is worth saying that even the winter months are not the limit for some, you can see people practicing winter swimming.
