To make the interior as beautiful and harmonious as possible, there are some rules to follow.

  • Colors cannot be used in equal proportions. If you use three colors in the design, then you should choose from them one main shade, which will take up most of the space. It is also worth highlighting an additional color and an accent color, intended only to emphasize the interior of the kitchen area. The basic colors are added to the selected palette: white, gray and black.
  • When choosing a large number of shades, you need to highlight two main... Basic colors are used to decorate the main part of the room, all other colors are optional, they are used to create design accents in the interior.
    • Choose your background colors carefully. As a rule, such colors should be either the darkest or the lightest, so that against their background all other additional shades look as beneficial as possible.
    • You must take into account the size of the room... If the room is small, then it is better to give preference to cold shades, because they are able to visually expand the space of the kitchen. A warm palette can be suitable for large rooms.

    Interesting options

Today there are many ideas on how to decorate a kitchen with a dark floor. If you have chosen a gray or black floor covering, then in this case you can place a dark gray set with chrome-plated surfaces in the kitchen. At the same time, the ceiling can be made light (white, beige, cream).

Objects of light shades are perfectly combined with a gray floor, so for the kitchen you can choose a set of light neutral tones (beige, milky, light brown). A wooden set of such shades with dark glossy surfaces will look beneficial.

If your kitchen area has a dark brown floor, then a set made of wood of a similar color scheme would be an excellent option. In this case, additional decorative elements of beige color will look great, will fit well into the interior and the beige ceiling.

A snow-white ceiling with silver small lamps goes well with a dark brown floor covering. Wooden elements with natural patterns will look interesting.

With a dark brown finish, a dark blue kitchen set with white surfaces will also look good. Large lamps of white or silver color will fit into such an interior.

A design with a black floor and a white kitchen set is considered a good option. At the same time, it is also better to choose the ceiling and lamps in a white palette. Chairs with bright backs and chrome inserts can become an unusual accent. A dark brown set, white walls and a ceiling will look great with a black floor. Light furniture made of transparent plastic or a bright small sofa can fit into such an interior.

A light gray wooden set with natural patterns goes well with a black floor. In this case, the walls and ceiling can be made white. To prevent the interior from being boring, it should be diluted with bright details.

So, you can add bright red, orange, yellow or green seats to the design. It is also acceptable to install some small interesting LED fixtures.

    Design Tips

When decorating a kitchen with a dark floor, it is worth adhering to some basic rules. Remember that for the interior it is better to choose materials with a light small pattern. On such surfaces, there will be practically no stains and streaks.

If you want to make your kitchen design as solid and noble as possible, then you can combine a dark floor with light beige, white or milky facades.

These combinations are best for creating a classic look. You should be careful with bright elements in these interiors.

Furniture and appliances in bright, flashy colors can spoil the interior and make it ridiculous. If the design turns out to be too boring, it can be diluted with compact furniture in red, green or blue. Some designers also use transparent elements. To freshen up a kitchen with a dark floor, you can use a small, light-colored rug. But keep in mind that its color should be combined with the color of the walls or kitchen set.

Remember that dark flooring works great with window and door frames in the same color palette. But the walls should be as light as possible. For frames, you can choose another contrasting shade, but it must be combined with all interior items.

Consider the size of the room... For small rooms, glossy diagonally laid flooring is best suited. Such materials include tiles, moisture-resistant laminate, linoleum with a small pattern. Glossy surfaces will reflect the kitchen space, which will visually expand it. But in "Khrushchev" houses it is better not to make a dark floor, since in such houses the kitchens are too small for this design solution.

In very tall kitchens, a dark floor will look beneficial, as it can significantly expand the space, while visually lowering the ceiling height.

It is better to choose curtains and other textiles in the same tone with the flooring, however, the color of the walls and ceiling should be taken into account. The abundance of dark colors can make the design too awkward and gloomy.

In interiors with dark floors and light walls, several large vases or paintings to match the color of the flooring are allowed. But an excessive amount of such decorative elements will make the interior bulky, so they cannot be installed in large quantities.

Also, do not forget that if you want to align the elongated space, then you should arrange the far wall in a dark shade, and it is better to make the sides in light colors. This technique visually aligns the walls.
