The kitchen dining area is a place for relaxation, eating, pleasant conversations with households and friends. That is why many are trying to make it as comfortable and convenient as possible. If there is enough space in the room, you can equip this area with soft chairs. They will be able to provide everyone with a comfortable pastime. This article will tell you what kind of chairs are, what they are made of and how to make the right choice.

Peculiarities

Stools and chairs are considered traditional kitchen furniture. They are compact and lightweight, but at the same time they cannot provide the maximum level of comfort for the vacationers. The best alternative to such products is a chair for the kitchen. These pieces of furniture have long ceased to be a sign of luxury - they can be found in the interiors of many modern apartments.

The stores offer a wide range of chairs of all sizes, colors and shapes.

Thanks to this variety, you can choose the best option for any type of kitchen, regardless of the size of the room and the style of the interior in which it is decorated.

Another important feature is high quality upholsterybecause the "clothes" of the chair must withstand temperature extremes, high humidity and other "difficult" conditions.

Despite all the advantages, some apartment and house owners do not prefer armchairs. This is primarily due to the high cost of products (compared to the usual chairs and stools), as well as their large dimensions.

Manufacturing materials

Regardless of the model, all chairs have a frame base and filler, which makes the products soft.The upholstery is responsible for the decorativeness of the products. All of these components are made from various materials, which will be discussed below.

Frame

For the manufacture of frame bases, metals, various types of wood and PVC are used. All these materials must meet a number of requirements - it is necessary that they withstand high humidity and high temperature indicators.

  1. Metal frames are made of steel, iron, aluminum... The best options for the kitchen are titanium or chrome products. Aluminum is lightweight, but during operation it darkens and loses its attractiveness.
  2. Timber frames are made from pine, beech, oak or larch. To give greater resistance to various unfavorable factors, the surface of the wood is treated with special compounds, painted or varnished.
  3. PVC is a fairly lightweight material that is not afraid of temperature jumps and high humidity... It is easy to care for and aesthetic. As its main drawback, there is a weak resistance to mechanical damage, which is why abrasions and scratches often appear on its surface.

In addition, hardboard can be used for the production of frames.

The material is famous for its plasticity, thanks to which frames with unusual and original shapes can be made from it.

Hardboard is easy to care for, it is durable and reliable, but it often leaves scratches from careless handling.

Furniture with frames made of one material is quite rare on the market. Most often, manufacturers combine them.

Filler

The comfort of the products and their durability will depend on this material. As a filler, manufacturers use:

  • spring blockswhich can be dependent (a group of interconnected springs) and independent (orthopedic base);
  • PPU (polyurethane foam) - synthetic filler obtained by foaming polymers;
  • sintepon - non-woven fabric, most often used in the manufacture of budget solutions;
  • struttofiber - the material made from natural and synthetic fibers is ideal for creating furniture with increased softness;
  • felt - natural filler made from animal hair;
  • quilted jacket - base made of cotton wool and various fabrics;
  • holofiber - a kind of padding polyester (visually represents small balls made of polyester materials);
  • foam rubber - a type of low quality polyurethane foam (such a filler quickly loses its performance properties).

Also used as a filler latex, durafil and periotec.

Upholstery

Upholstery materials used for the manufacture of kitchen furniture must dry quickly, be easy to clean and not attract dust. Upholstery meeting these requirements is made from:

  • tapestry;
  • natural leather, leatherette or eco-leather;
  • microfiber;
  • nylon.

Upholstery made of all nap materials are considered less successful. The fact is that during operation, they electrify, attract dust and small fat fractions formed during the cooking process. As a result, the pile loses its aesthetics very quickly.

Types of structures

All chairs can be divided into two large groups: frame and frameless. The former have a rigid base, the latter are soft bags shaped like a ball or drop. The most popular models used in the kitchen are frame ones. The range of such solutions is very rich.

  1. Compact modelsthat look like chairs with armrests. They are as mobile as chairs, but at the same time as comfortable as chairs. Small and handy, they fit easily into small spaces.
  2. Semi-chairs - stylish small models, the design of which does not provide for the presence of armrests.They are equipped with a padded seat and backrest. Compact and convenient solution for small kitchens.
  3. Corner with or without berth. They have an angular configuration. Designed to be located in the right or left kitchen corner. Save space as much as possible. Sleeper options are equipped with a transformation mechanism. If necessary, they can be expanded and get a full-fledged single bed for a night's rest.
  4. Armchair-bed... This is a folding option, which, thanks to the transformation mechanisms, is able to transform into a single or double bed. Despite the functionality, chair beds are not recommended to be placed in the kitchen, as they can take up a lot of space when unfolded. In addition, sleeping near numerous working household appliances cannot be called healthy.
  5. Bar swivel chairs. As a rule, these models are equipped with one leg with the possibility of height adjustment. This is ideal for kitchens with a bar counter. Due to the height adjustment, both children and adults will sit comfortably on such chairs.
  6. Semicircular models. Such solutions have a "fused" design. They have a combined backrest, seat and armrests. Semicircular armchairs have an exquisite custom design.

The huge assortment of chairs makes it difficult to choose them. There are many models, it is very easy to get confused in their variety, which is why you can subsequently purchase furniture unsuitable for the kitchen.

How to choose?

When looking at a chair for the kitchen, there are a number of important parameters to consider. The main ones are:

  • style;
  • functionality;
  • dimensions and configuration;
  • variety of materials of manufacture;
  • reputation of the manufacturer.

    The color range of products has no boundaries - there are both monochromatic options (from pastel shades to bright flashy ones) and models with prints, patterns and various compositions on sale. When choosing a color palette, it is necessary to take into account the tones of existing furnishings. You can choose chairs that match the color of the rest of the furniture, or focus on them, visually making them a "bright spot" in the interior.

    When choosing a color, do not forget about practicality.

    If you choose products with fabric upholstery, then light colors are not a very good solution (with the exception of options from natural or artificial leather). No matter how neat the hostess is, the surface of the chairs in the kitchen often gets dirty. On light-colored upholstery, even small dirt will immediately catch the eye.

    The next thing to look out for is configuration and construction. DFor the kitchen, frame options are most often preferred. Of course, frameless soft bags are very comfortable. However, they are low, so it will not be possible to sit on them at the table for eating. This solution is best suited for sitting in front of the TV, reading a book or newspaper, and for other passive relaxation.

    Product sizes are selected in accordance with the dimensions of the room. It is inappropriate to buy massive furniture in a small kitchen. If the room is small, it is recommended to take a closer look at half-chairs or other miniature models. Narrow corner chairs will be a good purchase. For a spacious kitchen, you can select any size product - small, medium or large. Everything here will depend on the preferences of the owners.

    Don't forget about functionality. There are models of armchairs with drawers. Such an acquisition will be successful if the hostess does not have enough space to store various kitchen utensils. There are also armchairs with shelves. If you need an extra bed, armchair beds will be the best purchase.

    When choosing products for seating, it is important to pay attention to the reputation of the manufacturer. Low-cost furniture items from unknown companies can be made from low-quality components.Their upholstery may soon be frayed, the structure loosened, and the outer parts of the case may be scratched.

    Accommodation options

    To successfully arrange furniture in the kitchen, you first need to equip the work area. The remaining space should be used to accommodate the dining group, the basis of which is a table and chairs. The choice of location will depend on the purpose of the furniture. For example, corner models and large-sized options are located in the corner, bar solutions - near the bar, beanbag chairs - in a separate area for relaxation.

    If the kitchen has a dining round table, you can arrange from 2 to 6 chairs around it. In this case, the dining area will be in the middle of the room. Chair-beds and other transforming models should be installed so that it is convenient to pull them out, and the table does not become an obstacle to this.

    When arranging the chairs, you should show imagination in order to organically fit them into the overall interior.

    However, it is important to keep in mind that upholstered furniture should not be placed near the stove and sink.

    These are the main sources of pollution - next to them, products will constantly get dirty and require wet cleaning.

    Successful examples in the interior

    There are many successful examples illustrating the harmonious arrangement of kitchen chairs. In the photo below, there is a small round table in the recreation area. There are 4 compact leather half-chairs around it.

    Kitchen decorated in a minimalist style. In this case, the table is located in the middle of the room, and around it are chairs that match the decor on the windows.

    The following example shows how, in a spacious kitchen, you can arrange chairs in the dining group and furniture for seating in the sitting area.

    The design of chairs for the kitchen can be different. In the video below, see an overview of some of the models.
