The choice of the color of the kitchen is no less important than the selection of furniture and sanitary ware. It is often said that a matte kitchen room is the best option. It is necessary to carefully deal with this topic before making a final decision.

Advantages and disadvantages

The popularity of matte kitchens and these kitchen sets is due to the fact that they help to achieve a cozy and welcoming atmosphere for family entertainment. The matte sheen is especially pleasant in cold weather. By the way, this is the only possible option for decorating a Provencal room and kitchen in the spirit of shabby chic. The undoubted advantages of matte kitchens are:

  • practicality of facades (the ability to clean less often);
  • positive mental attitude and calmness;
  • suitability for classic and rustic styles;
  • minimal fading in sunlight;
  • a wide variety of suitable materials;
  • the ability to use almost any lighting without fear of glare.

But it must be borne in mind that matte kitchens have several negative sides. They will outwardly conceal space. If a muted color is chosen, a small-sized kitchen may look ugly at all.

This can be turned from a hindrance to a positive effect by using muted matte tones in a very large room. Even better chance of success with darker colors.

It must be borne in mind that in a matte room you will have to provide more intense lighting. Therefore, it is recommended to equip the window with a larger one. If this is not done, the space will seem too sleepy and inconspicuous to look at.A slight variety of colors can also cause problems. Choosing for a matte kitchen will result in much fewer colors than in a glossy room.

When choosing matte colors, you will have to abandon abrasives when cleaning. Otherwise, it will be almost impossible to preserve the original appearance of the facades. As for the restrictions on the range of colors - they are not too significant. You can easily use the vast majority of the demanded colors. However, in a small space, it is better to do without dark tones.

Variety of species

If you are determined to make exactly a matte kitchen, you still need to figure out what exactly it should be. The niche kitchen format is ideal for small-sized housing. Despite its modest size, it is quite functional.

One should not think that a niche space can be approached lightly. Only with a very careful thought of the concept will it be possible to achieve an optimal result.

A purely working kitchen stands out only when there is already a separate dining area. But the most common option is still the kitchen-dining room. It necessarily provides for a site where the dining table will stand.

The gradation of kitchens according to the type of layout is no less important. Linear - they are also straight - premises are always built from one after the other:

  • sinks;
  • boxes and other storage systems;
  • plates;
  • working and dining tables.

In a two-row version, as you might guess, all objects are placed in two different lines. They usually adjoin opposite walls. In the L-shaped (aka angular) format, furniture is placed against adjoining walls, and the sink is at one of the edges or at the junction. The L-shaped scheme is much less common. And the more frequent U-shaped and peninsular kitchens are designed mainly in large rooms.

Review of materials

But whatever the geometric structure of the headset, its material also plays a huge role. It must be borne in mind that a high temperature will be created in the kitchen and water vapor will spread. All products must also be resistant to splashes of fat.

A true classic (albeit very expensive) is the natural wood façade. This design will emphasize the owners' solid aesthetic taste and their respectability. Common for the domestic furniture industry are:

  • maple;
  • oak;
  • birch;
  • spruce;
  • beech;
  • ash arrays.

More exotic breeds can be used. But then the cost can rise 2-3 times, and sometimes even more. Even the excellent aesthetic and practical characteristics of "exotic" do not always justify this difference.

It must be borne in mind that wood easily picks up moisture. Special processing solves this problem, however, and such a procedure will cost a lot.

Matte structures made of chipboard (and its subspecies - laminated chipboard) have become widespread. You have to pay relatively little for such materials, and it is easier to assemble items from them. The special film provides sufficient resistance to moisture and strong heat. If the components fail, it will be easy to find replacement parts.

However, it must be understood that any particle board contains a toxic resin and can be easily destroyed by mechanical stress.

If there is a desire to purchase a safer kitchen, but at the same time not to overpay for natural wood, then a structure made of MDF will do. In the manufacture of this material, only completely safe reagents are used. The increased strength of the facades is due to the high pressure compaction. MDF can be made in different styles and lasts a very long time.

But we must remember that this material easily ignites, and that part of the production has not yet switched to modern safe technology.

You can often find references to plastic kitchens.To be precise, plastic is used not as the main structural material, but as a decorative material. Behind it are the same chipboard, MDF or wood. Plastics used in the manufacture of kitchen furniture can easily withstand strong heat and are very durable.

However, abrasive cleaning and highly active detergents will still be unacceptable.

Plastic products are ideal for a modernist style. But many people prefer enamel finishes. A high-quality enamelled surface will last a long time. Also, enamel will help to make furniture more varied. Usually, a special coating is applied in several layers, after which it is thoroughly sanded and painted with a glossy varnish.

The problems with enamel are as follows:

  • impossibility of cleaning with acid compositions;
  • preservation of fingerprints;
  • increased price.

Color palette

Matte kitchen materials are important, but no less significant are the individual colors and color combinations. They are selected according to their own taste. Dark materials are recommended for those who expect the opportunity to relax and calm down from the kitchen. However, with a dynamic lifestyle, when very little time is allotted for lunch, such a decision is inappropriate. Light colors (including white paint) have diametrically opposite psychological effects.

With the skillful use of light colors, you can achieve an exquisite and sophisticated appearance of furniture. At the same time, he will cheer up and stimulate to take active actions. The right attitude is created to resolve problems.

The very light kitchen is suitable for singles and families without children, who lead an active lifestyle and strive for luxury.

The psychological effects of a particular color must also be taken into account. So, red, yellow and orange paints instantly stimulate appetite. Pink and gray tones will help those looking to diet. Pastel shades are deservedly popular. Using contrast is fine. However, when using it, care must be taken that the room as a whole does not look too flashy.

Design options

Popular in the interior of the kitchen is classic style... It implies simplicity of geometry and grace of lines. This composition is recommended for people with a traditional lifestyle, focusing primarily on career and family. In a classic interior, only natural materials are uniquely suitable. Door frames or window sills made of wood will only enhance the favorable impression.

If you choose a flawless classic, you will have to discard all items that look cheap. You need to use only exclusive status items. You can also use antiques, if you only have the necessary money. But the use of jewelry should be abandoned. Instead, they use deliberately aged decorative items.

If selected modern style, will have to move away from traditional canons. Typical in this format are:

  • furniture of simple geometry;
  • complete rejection of stucco and carved elements;
  • application of several colors at once, play of contrasts;
  • introduction to the interior of chrome-plated or lacquered surfaces.

Matte kitchen can be decorated in the spirit loft... In this case, a lot of metal is used. Furniture should be heavy and massive. In a more modern version, a loft means:

  • rejection of wall coverings and exposure of brickwork;
  • fusion of dining and work space;
  • the presence of massive structures and fixtures.

Care Tips

Whichever style of matte kitchen is chosen, it will have to be carefully looked after. Chipboard and MDF facades are impractical to clean with chlorine and alkaline reagents. You will also have to give up abrasive cleaning, vinegar, vegetable oil. The optimal solution is to use soft sponges soaked in soapy water. After washing, you will need to walk over the surface again to remove all the soap.

If the MDF is covered with plastic, it is allowed to use weak solutions of alcohol. But it’s better not to risk it. But scraping off dirt with knives, razors, and so on is a very bad idea. For a kitchen to last longer, you need:

  • do not place hot items on the countertop, shelves;
  • load all parts evenly;
  • wipe the furniture with foam rubber sponges or soft cloth;
  • dry cleaned surfaces;
  • do not polish furniture with grease or wax.
