Having decided to supplement the kitchen set with a bottle-holder, the buyer often wonders about the size of the required pencil case. The material in this article will be useful to those who do not know what the dimensions of the cargo are, and will tell you what to consider when choosing your option.

What it is?

Bottle holders are nothing more than pencil cases for storing various items used in the kitchen. In fact, these are roll-out or pull-out-type shelving boxes (often with a door closer), which are built into the modules of kitchen sets or placed between them, or even mounted in free areas of the kitchen. Based on the design features, models can have a different number of shelves, while storage systems are not only horizontal, but also vertical.

These products are fastened between the headset's hanging drawers, or they can be floor-standing. In addition, some modifications are installed on the floor from one of the sides of the headset.

Standard dimensions

The main parameter of the bottle holder is its width: in comparison with conventional pull-out baskets, it is only 10 cm or 100 mm. 10 cm is the narrowest width: this is not enough to fit inside the dishes or any large objects, but it is quite enough for storing small bottles of spices and herbs. The height of such a product is comparable to the height of the headset, into which the pencil case is built. Usually these figures are 80-85 cm.

In addition to 10 cm models, the dimensions of bottle holders with a base width of 15 and 20 cm are considered standard. In this case, the wall thickness of the product varies from 1.6 to 1.9 cm.Thus, the inner width is reduced by 3.2-3.8 cm in total.Sometimes the inner width of the retractable pencil case is only 8.6 cm. The entire set is installed in a single box and can have a different number of dividers (from 2 to 4).

The height of small cargo usually does not exceed 50 cm with the width of the box itself 10-15 cm. Floor-standing models with legs have an average height of 720 mm. Cargo shelf heights are rarely identical. Usually one of them is higher, which is good for placing bottles of vinegar, drink, vegetable oil.

Usually manufacturers make shelves up to 38-40 cm high. The lower compartments often have a height of about 15-20 cm. However, depending on the structural nuances of the base itself, they can change. For example, some shelves are only 9 cm high, in other models it can be 12 cm.Sometimes the distance between the bottoms of the upper and lower shelves is 50-53 cm. In this case, the upper shelves can be designed for low storage items, in contrast to the lower compartments.

The depth of the cargo box, regardless of the number of rows with shelves and containers, will be equal to the depth of the headset. On average, it can be 49-50 cm. However, the depth and height of the internal structure with opening and closing mechanisms without a facade is less.

When buying this or that product, it is necessary to take into account: the manufacturer indicates the size of the box, but the internal dimensions will differ. They must be seen in the characteristics attached to the description.

The internal filling, based on the size of the headset boxes themselves, can be 111x470x460 mm, 112x496x477 mm. The minimum installation depth is 394, 494, 460, 294 mm. When buying, for example, a product with a total depth of 48 cm, it is worth considering: the depth of the pull-out panel will be approximately 44 cm. The same rule applies to models with a width of 15, 20 cm, a height of up to 84-85 cm, and a depth of up to 60 cm.

Non-standard options

This line includes models of kitchen bottle holders with a base width of more than 200 mm. They are distinguished by a large carrying capacity, in addition, the wider and larger the cargo, the more stable it is. However, even for these models, the width of the facade and the width of the inner filling are different. For example, if the width of the box is:

  • 300 mm, cargo width will be 264 mm;
  • 350 mm, then the bottle holder will be 6 cm less and will be 314 mm;
  • 400 mm, the parameters of the inner filling will be 364 mm;
  • 450 mm, the construction of the pencil case will be 414 mm wide.

    The depth for wide models can be 460 and 510 mm. The carrying capacity of these products is 25 kg; for narrow counterparts, it is usually 2 times less. These modifications have a significant plus in comparison with narrow structures: they are more stable. Narrow ones have to be filled completely, since when the half-filled pencil case is pulled out, it begins to collapse.

    Choosing, for example, an option with a height of 720 mm, it is worth considering that the inside of the filling will be much less in height. This is necessary to accommodate attachment systems and comfortable pull-out, as well as closure. For example, at this height, the inner frame of the bottle holder will have a height of about 60 cm.If this parameter is larger, it will simply not be possible to store any items on the top shelf.

    The so-called column cabinets can also be attributed to the non-standard type options. These bottle holders usually have frame heights ranging from 1600-1800 mm with box widths of 150 and 200 mm. As a rule, these are multi-level models with a height equal to the height of the refrigerator, since they are installed next to it. Typically, these models have an internal filling of five rows with shelves or vertical storage systems that are designed for pans and colander.

    Besides, on sale there are modifications with dimensions of 1690, 1720 mm... Their depth is usually about 46 and 51 cm. Also in the lines of stores you can find options for columns with parameters 1830x106x460 mm, 1830x349x448, 2250x249x448 mm. A facade width of 45 cm is considered non-standard, such cargo models are capable of withstanding a weight load of up to 120 kg, they are made of steel.

    How to choose the right size?

    As a rule, the size of this or that model is selected based on the existing furniture or the space between the modules, as well as taking into account the false module, if the installation is planned to be carried out in it. At the same time, it is important to determine the place in the kitchen set, where there will be space for the bottle holder, taking into account the distance for its opening.

    The size of the model may depend on its location, as well as the amount of cargo. For example, if it is necessary to allocate space for storing detergents with the placement of structures under the sink, they look at the total width of the sink. Most likely, in this case, they will be narrow. If the table is united by a common tabletop, and the modular system allows variations with the design of the lower drawers, you can increase the width of each pencil case to 15-20 cm.

    The size required for a particular kitchen may vary by location in the kitchen, depending on its layout. For example, sometimes there are niches in it that can be used for installing a cargo. And here the width and depth will already be subject to the peculiarities of the furniture that is installed in the niche. Besides, the width of the empty space that needs to be filled with a functional item for storing various kitchen utensils will also matter.

    For example, if there is enough space left in calculating the width of the headset based on the length of the wall, you can choose models with a larger width. You will have to go to the store with a construction tape, with which the owner of the house took the necessary measurements. It is not worth taking it very close to the walls of the cargo: it is necessary to leave at least a minimum gap. In individual houses, walls are often led, which is fraught with furniture when it is barely squeezed into the length of the wall.

    The depth of the model will correspond to the depth of the headset, since the fronts of the bottle holder and the main headset must merge into a single line. They do not protrude forward and do not fall through, regardless of the type of cargo itself, the method of their attachment and the place of fixation. In addition, the required size may depend on the location of the dummy module.

    For example, in addition to the standard one, it can be beveled, and this will already require the acquisition of a non-standard size, and the dimensions of the module and the opening mechanism will be the determining factors in the purchase.

    When buying, you can contact a sales consultant for help. Usually in stores today there are specialists who understand the selection of sizes. However, if the consultant does not have the necessary knowledge, you need to rely on typical dimensions. For example, in stores, they indicate the width not of the cargo itself, but of the boxes for which they are designed... Knowing this, it is not difficult to acquire the desired option.

    Measure the distance at home and choose the option you need between those parameters that are right for your kitchen. No complicated calculations need to be done: if the headset has a space with a 20 cm front, your version in the store will be marked “200 mm wide”. The same applies to wider models, as well as non-standard baskets with a width of 40 cm or more. They are great for storing household appliances, pots, cauldrons.

    The type of content that you want to take out of sight will also be important. For example, for small things (jars for spices), the sizes can be compact and even minimal, for example, here you can get by with parameters 10 cm wide.If you need to remove the pots from sight, you should take a closer look at the options from 30 cm.However, this is provided that there will be a place for placing these models. If it is essential to purchase an autonomous version of the portable type, it is advisable to buy a miniature model.
