Pull-out baskets for the kitchen: features, types and choices

Nowadays, many housewives install various pull-out baskets in their kitchens. These compartments can be used to store all kinds of food. Today we will talk about what models of pull-out kitchen cabinets exist, and what they are most often made of.

In this case, the finished product is necessarily covered with a special polymer substance that protects it from rust formation. Metal structures also include elbow-type structures. They look like a seamless container made of stainless steel sheet.

• Drawer baskets. These designs are equipped with small rollers that allow the baskets to be fully rolled out. In this case, the retractable mechanism has a lower and an upper guide. These containers can be wide and horizontal or narrow and vertical.

• Carousel systems. This type is used for storing cutlery in corner kitchen cabinets. Such a container has a vertical axial post to which mesh trays are attached.

• Pull-out system for beveled models. These baskets are installed on kitchen units with beveled corners. Most often they are used to store detergents and glass, plastic bottles ..

• Roll-out. These types are interlocked with doors that are at the same time front panels. These models fit perfectly into the overall design of the kitchen area. When opening such a container, a person gets access to the entire shelf at once.

The retractable fittings of such kitchen compartments necessarily have a special movable mechanism. Roller guides are often installed in rotary systems. They are considered the simplest and cheapest option.

One roller guide is attached to the inside of the basket. The second part is installed on the retractable part of the product. During the installation process, they are fastened together, which ensures the presence of a movable mechanism. It should be borne in mind that such systems will not be able to withstand too heavy loads (no more than 20-25 kilograms).

There are also ball guides. They have a telescopic opening. As it opens, the mechanism increases its length, and when it closes, it decreases.

This design works with the help of one-piece fittings, in which one edge is fixed to the pull-out section, and the other is installed on the inside of the basket. This technology allows you to make the container as spacious as possible.

Ball structures are practically silent during operation. And also it is often equipped with a special system of closers, which allows you to make the opening and closing process completely silent.

Metabox is another best option for these baskets. In this case, the guides are located not only from the sides, but also from the bottom. This technology allows the container to withstand significant weight and ensure quiet operation.

Currently, you can find electrically driven fittings. In this case, the box opens and closes with the help of a small motor. But such models will cost much more than standard samples.

Kitchen pull-out baskets are made from a wide variety of materials. Today you can find models made of high-strength stainless steel. As a rule, it is from it that lattice types of containers are made. Some varieties are made from solid steel sheets. But at the same time, you should choose products with a special coating that does not allow rust to form.

There are models, the walls of which are made of a metal base, and the bottom is made of a different material. In this case, plastic or wood is often used.This significantly reduces the noise when folding dishes into the basket.

The best option is considered to be products made from chipboard or MDF panels. If the kitchen has a set made of natural wood, then it is better to choose drawers made of the same material so that they fit well into the general interior of the room.

Some models are made entirely of wicker wood. Such products look the most aesthetically pleasing in the interior. Sometimes the tree is covered with various decorative paints. The material, decorated "antique" looks interesting.

The sizes of kitchen drawers can vary considerably. Small systems for storing glass and plastic bottles are about 9-10 cm wide and can be 50-60 cm high.

Today, they produce high carousel columns with pallets of various shapes. These models can be 600-900 mm high. As a rule, it can be regulated. Often, such models are made with round shelves, the diameter of each of them can reach 300-500 mm.

Before buying a suitable model of such a basket, it is worth considering some parameters. So, first you need to decide what exactly the product will be used for. Tall vertical drawers are better suited for bottles; horizontal and wide products should be chosen for dishes.

Pay attention to the retractable fittings, since it is this part that is considered the most vulnerable spot in the product. It is recommended to choose drawers with a mechanism made of stainless steel with a thickness of more than one millimeter.

The main thing is that all guide structures work smoothly and easily. And also keep in mind that the fasteners should not creak when opening and closing. If there is noise, then the model has weak mountings.

Do not forget to visually check the evenness of all sections before purchasing. There should be no distortions on the product. They will lead to rapid wear of the parts.

Consider also the material from which the basket is made. Often the sections are made of MDF and chipboard panels. In this case, you should carefully check their surface. It should be completely smooth, without protruding defects.

The approximate layout of the kitchen area should also be taken into account. If you have a small kitchen, then corner basket models will be the best option. They will be able to fit perfectly into the overall interior.

If you have a large kitchen, then it is permissible to place several separate sections at once for storing dishes and products. But in this case, a small distance should be made between them so that they can freely open and close without interfering with each other.
