In order to correctly plan the useful area of the kitchen, you need to make the right choice of a kitchen set. Because it is the pieces of furniture that occupy most of the usable area. And the problem of lack of free space does not depend on chairs or a table, refrigerator or sofa, but on the number and dimensions of cabinets. An important aspect is the height of the cabinets. In the article, we will focus on mounted samples, their dimensions and shapes.

What determines the location?

When choosing the height of the upper cabinets, it is necessary to take into account a number of conditions that affect their localization.

The main thing is comfort for the one who has more control in the kitchen.

Basically, the headset consists of two levels - lower and upper. The installation height of structures that are fixed on the 2nd level is often determined by the height of the one who is mainly engaged in cooking.

It is important that the bottom shelves of the top cabinet are at approximately eye level. This ensures free access to frequently used products and items. Otherwise, you will need to use some kind of stand.

Hanging cabinets too low is also undesirable. This is due to the inconvenience when working on the countertop (table top, table stove) and the smaller possibilities for the location on the wall between the levels of cabinets of all kinds of items (shelves for spices, hangers for kitchen utensils, etc.).

It is also of great importance that various electrical appliances are often placed under the wall cabinets. If the lower plane of the module is located close to the working surface, its appearance can suffer from functioning equipment. (not to mention the high degree of fire hazard). Steam from a multicooker or kettle will spoil the lining in a short time.

The level of ceilings in the kitchen is of considerable importance in the selection of the placement of modules and their dimensions. Large kitchens allow the designer to arrange all the pieces of furniture, including wall-mounted ones, focusing on the concepts of comfort and aesthetics. When the area is small, you have to order smaller cabinets, or place standard cabinets at the lowest height from the work surface.

When calculating the height of fixing the modules, their mounting location and purpose are also provided. They can be installed not only above the tabletop, but also in other areas, for example, above the hood or refrigerator. Therefore it is necessary to orientate yourself with the standards of kitchen cabinets offered by the manufacturers.

Standard parameters of kitchen sets

As already mentioned, kitchen units can be located on the lower and upper levels. Their standard dimensions were established taking into account the average values of the physical characteristics of a person, mainly his height.

GOST regulates indicators for certain sizes of interior items installed in the kitchen:

  1. module height (including the tabletop) - 85-90 cm;
  2. working depth of the table top - 60 cm;
  3. the inner depth of the lower cabinet is at least 46 cm;
  4. internal depth of the wall cabinet - at least 27 cm;
  5. the height from the floor to the top shelf of the hinged module is no more than 190 cm.

In fact, the dimensions of the furniture offered to the user often differ slightly from the prescribed parameters.

Dimensions of wall-mounted kitchen cabinets

The standard dimensions of kitchen hanging cabinets have the following parameters - the height can be 36 cm, 72 cm, or 92 cm.

The standard depth of kitchen wall cabinets is up to 30 centimeters. If you need modules with greater depth, then you will need to make such a product to order.

When a cabinet is required with a shallower depth, then it will not only need to be made to order, but also take into account the dimensions of those items that will be contained in it.

There are no standard criteria for height of kitchen cabinets. Manufacturers of kitchen furniture do not look at such characteristics in the same way, or rather, if you want to buy a standard complete set for a kitchen, then the height of the wall cabinets can be from 25 to 100 centimeters.

Changing the dimensions in height, depth or width of the hanging cabinet will certainly affect the price.

The distance between the shelves in the closet can be 20 or 30 centimeters. Despite the fact that existing standards set the maximum mounting height of the upper element at 190 centimeters, however, this value may also be exceeded. Moreover, striving to maximally functionally exploit the entire area of a small kitchen, and assembling structures almost to the ceiling, many consciously put up with possible difficulties.

Despite the generally accepted standards of wall cabinets, taking into account the comfort of their use, if desired, the home owner can install higher structures. Frequent operation of the upper shelves in them is not very convenient, especially for those who are not tall.

However, it is quite practical to place items and products that are not used as often.

Design solutions for the kitchen set suggest a variety of options for mounting wall structures:

  • on the same level;
  • at various distances from the work surface and ceiling.

Of course, if it is possible to order furniture with your own parameters, then you can take into account all the needs and functionally fill the available space to the maximum.

At what distance from the floor to fix?

To make it comfortable to work in the kitchen, and to fit household appliances on the countertop, you do not need to hang the cabinet below 45 cm from the work surface. If the housewife is above average, this indicator can be increased to 60 cm.

There is a dependence of the mounting height of the modules (lower part) on human height:

  1. with a person's height of 175-178 cm the distance from the bottom surface of the wall cabinets to the floor is 150 centimeters;
  2. with a height of 185 cm - from the bottom surface of the wall cabinets to the floor 160 centimeters;
  3. at 200 cm - the distance to the floor is 175 centimeters.

When installing cabinets in which exhaust structures are integrated, the standards for the location of this technology become predetermined.

In kitchens equipped with gas hobs, cooker hoods cannot be installed below 75 cm above the hob. When talking about electric stoves, in this case, it is advisable to withstand at least 65 centimeters.

    Top cabinets can be fixed to the wall, where there are no floor cabinets and work surface. With this option, they are guided by the ergonomics and design of the entire headset. The same approach is used when installing furniture over household appliances (microwave ovens, ovens, refrigerators, and so on).

    When calculating the distance from the working surface to the bottom of the hanging furniture, first of all, you need to rely not on standards, but on your own wishes. Ignoring the established standards, some place cabinets at a height exceeding 70 centimeters, if it is more comfortable for them.

    Upper cabinets placed not according to the rules can significantly complicate the procedure for preparing food for the hostess. This can lead not only to early fatigue, but also threatens injury. There are frequent cases when the chef catches the cupboard with his head. And the reason for this is precisely its low location.

    The height of the hanging cabinets is an important consideration. It determines to what extent the kitchen will be functional. This indicator is provided even when creating a project. When establishing all sizes, they are repelled by the fact that they are going to keep them in them.
