Red curtains in the kitchen: designs and tips for choosing
Curtains are the interior detail that can transform any room beyond recognition. People spend a lot of time in the kitchen, so the things around them should be pleasing to the eye. If we talk about red curtains, then this color is multifaceted, it can be used both in the kitchen and in other parts of the house or apartment.
For the kitchen, muted colors are most often chosen, as is the case with the bedroom. After all, this is the place where you often have to visit: have breakfast, dinner after a working day. Nothing in the interior should cause irritation, distract from the rest, therefore the curtains should be light, airy, and red should not oppress, but cause a good mood.
Advantages and disadvantages
The pluses of red kitchen curtains include appetite stimulation, which is why most Chinese restaurants are decorated in red. Gray everyday life turns into a holiday when you enter the kitchen and see bright curtains. They focus on themselves, thereby distracting from the shortcomings, if they are present in the interior of the kitchen.
If the kitchen is small, then red curtains will not work. Visually, they make the space smaller, so there is a feeling that the kitchen is stuffy and there is not enough air, and this is a minus.
Red can cause dizziness and nausea, in addition, if a person's psyche is shattered, then red can provoke aggression, irritability, and lead to a deterioration in the psychological state.
Views
Consider several varieties of red curtains that are appropriate for the kitchen.
- Roman. When lifted, these curtains fold at the top of the window into a neat accordion.
- Austrian. These beautiful curtains will form wave folds when pulled up.
- Japanese. Suitable for minimalism style, and are two panels that slide apart in different directions.
- Classic. These two-layer models are composed of light, translucent tulle and heavy red curtains.
- Thread. Not so popular for the kitchen, but the model is very interesting: beads and other simple details are located on the curtains, consisting of pendants.
- Rolled. Roll-type curtains, curl up. They are often combined with regular curtains.
- Cafe curtains. In another way, they are called "country", they are used as a fashionable and convenient option for decorating the kitchen window.
- Lambrequins. They are a horizontal drapery at the top of the kitchen window.
How to choose?
Curtains should not only decorate the kitchen, but also be of practical use, protecting a person from prying eyes from the street. It is undesirable to select too long models, because you have to constantly move in the kitchen, and this can interfere with the work process. Also, the curtains should be opened in one fell swoop to provide quick access to the window. The ideal option is white short tulle and ready-made red curtains of the same length.
Please note: when buying curtains for your kitchen, you need to remember that dark tones visually reduce the space, so it is better to stay on light shades of red.
In addition, if there are wallpapers with large patterns on the walls, then the curtains should be monochromatic. But if you choose a model with a classic cage as a design, then it will always look appropriate.
Polka dot curtains look charming in a small kitchenette - they decorate the room, create a relaxed atmosphere and cheer up. Cozy red curtains with white polka dots up to the windowsill are a very appropriate design option.
The pattern does not have to be ordered - you can also choose a model with a scattering of peas. Such a curtain will perfectly match with a translucent curtain.
Red curtains are an original and interesting solution, but do not forget that a bright color can cause an oppressive psychological state. Black and red curtains, for example, will make the interior of the kitchen extravagant, daring and give it originality, but you will hardly be able to relax in such a room. However, if it is still difficult to refuse such a combination, then you can hang scarlet curtains with black fragments on them. It will look spectacular and will add flavor to the interior.
Curtains in shades such as beige, milky and cream will help soften the bright red color of the curtains. Delicate shades will muffle the riot of colors and, in general, will look harmonious in the kitchen. It is worth considering the appearance of your headset - if it is in bright colors, then red curtains will be inappropriate, but if the furniture and headset are light, then you can safely experiment.
Please note: Lightweight, translucent curtains can blend very well into the interior, even if there is already so much red in it. But it is not recommended to use blackout curtains and overly aggressive tones - you will want to leave such a room as soon as possible, and not be in it for a long time.
You need to choose curtains based on the style of the entire room. Red will be appropriate to look in minimalistic modern designs, loft, as well as in such a direction as fusion. For the classics, you should choose something calmer, and for Provence, bright colors are completely inappropriate. Optimal curtain materials for the kitchen: linen, chintz, cotton, poplin. Models made of synthetic materials are also suitable.
