Dog hybrids with a kind and cute Labrador retriever have a special appeal. You should find out how they look, and what character traits they can inherit from their parents.

Peculiarities

Mestizos have 2 thoroughbred parents, but they themselves are considered outbred animals. They have no passport or pedigree. One of the benefits of these pets is that they can be purchased completely free of charge... The benefits from such a dog will be no less than from its titled parents.

In most cases, hereditary diseases do not pass to mestizos.

Their psyche is stable, and you can try to get character and external data by crossing a Labrador with suitable types of dogs, although the results may be unexpected.

The nature of the dogs

When crossing a Labrador with other breeds of dogs, it is difficult to predict what kind of character the future pet will have. Usually such a mixture gives mestizos with good mental characteristics and the best qualities taken from their parents.

Quite rarely, hybrids are vicious and aggressive.

  • Cross with Alabai... A kind dog with a powerful temperament. You cannot leave one for a long time, it will create a mess in the house. Curious, loves to travel and explore new places.
  • With a mongrel... Usually, the offspring from such a union is with a stable psyche, a friendly communicative character. Dogs are active, inquisitive and gentle to the owner, they have good guarding qualities.
  • With a husky... Lycadores are active, funny and funny dogs, but they will never be watchmen or guards because their ancestors did not. They are friendly, curious and very quick-witted.If there is more Labrador in the mestizo than the husky, he will be gullible and love everyone, and if, on the contrary, he will get a more independent and less sociable character.
  • With a shepherd dog. By mixing these breeds, you can get a livable dog with a non-aggressive character, but at the same time with protective qualities. He will be happy to play with children, using his irrepressible energy. The dog will get along with other pets, but he will not let the stranger out of the yard, showing his character of a defender. Labronemen are very loyal, and although they welcome any family member, they choose one master and listen only to his commands.

With such pets, one should not give slack, they should be brought up confidently and firmly, otherwise the dog may become the owner.

  • With a pit bull. Despite the fears of breeders, mestizos from these breeds are rarely aggressive, as Labrador genes dominate. They are friendly, active, and enjoy playing with children. But there are rare cases when a puppy inherits the aggressiveness of a pit bull.
  • With a poodle. Very intelligent, trainable dogs. They are good-natured, accommodating and responsible. Such mestizos are trained to help people with disabilities, pets do their job with great enthusiasm and do their job well.
  • With a rottweiler. A cross between these breeds is not popular today due to the unpredictability of their nature. By crossing a merry fellow and a good-natured Labrador with a tough fighting dog, you can get an active, strong, but vicious animal. Of course, there may be a completely adequate dog, but it is difficult to understand the habits of a future adult animal, looking at a mischievous puppy.
  • With a spaniel. Metis is friendly and overly temperamental, in games he has no equal. He loves walks in the fresh air, shows the qualities of a hunter. It is impossible to get bored with him.
  • With staff... Mestizos of these breeds do not have families with small children, since the fighting nature of the Stafford can manifest itself at any time. Some individuals do not show aggression, are playful and affectionate. It is difficult to predict the future character of such a pet in advance.
  • With a dachshund. It turns out a wonderful short-legged Labrador with a playful, groovy disposition. Loves children, is ready to play with them tirelessly for days on end.
  • With husky (labski)... Mestizos are friendly, strongly attached to the owner, get along well with children. Sometimes they can show willfulness of a husky, and at the moment of danger - even a formidable disposition.
  • With a sharpei. Genes are formed in different ways, a dog can be indoor and good-natured, like a lapdog, or capable of guarding, like a Shar Pei. But in any case, it will be a loving and devoted dog.

Advantages and disadvantages

Labrador retrievers are the kindest creatures. With the light hand of director T. Dreyer, they are called "the last angels on Earth." Mestizos obtained from such animals have many positive qualities:

  • they have an adequate character;
  • smart mind;
  • they are easy to train;
  • they quickly get used to the new environment;
  • have good immunity;
  • unpretentious in food;
  • they can be purchased for a small cost or simply received "in good hands."

The disadvantages include the lack of documents, pedigree and the breed itself.

They are admitted to exhibitions, but they never win anything. During mating, it is difficult to predict the future conformation and character of the puppies.

Hybrid variants

Seeking to develop a new breed, breeders are purposefully engaged in crossing various types of animals. But more often such a union occurs by chance, when they did not keep track of a purebred dog. At an older age, it is easier to distinguish mestizo from parents.

Labradors can be crossed with any dogs: fighting Cane Corso, guard dogs, such as the Doberman, cops (you can take a setter).

For mating, they choose a boxer in the hope of getting a bodyguard dog, or a corgi if they want to have a cute baby, but still, with optimal mixing, animals should be of about the same build.

  • WITH alabai... Dogs of these breeds cross well, as they have a similar structure, so they can be found quite often. The thick wool of the mestizo needs regular brushing and a special shampoo.
  • With a mongrel. Such mating occurs by chance, and it is impossible to predict the appearance of the offspring. The mestizo will receive the sizes from their parents.
  • WITH like. Visually puppies can have qualities from each breed. They are beige, brown or black in color, but almost never white, like Samoyed huskies. They have elongated muzzles with a scissor bite. Ears can stand, like a husky, or droop, like a Labrador, it all depends on the dominant genes. Likodors have a smart, friendly look that can immediately endear them.
  • With a shepherd... A cross between these breeds is very popular, as each parent gives the puppy his best qualities. Outwardly, the dogs look great too. Most often, Labronemen have medium-length wool with a black color. Mestizos usually have drooping Labrador ears.
  • With a pit bull... Pit bulls are rarely crossed with a Labrador: they are afraid to pass the aggression gene to the puppies. Metis get the size and character of a Labrador, but there are exceptions.
  • WITH poodle... The Labradoodle (Cobberdog) is the most popular hybrid today. Such dogs make wonderful guide dogs who endlessly love their owner and help him in everything. It is believed that mestizo got hypoallergenic qualities of wool from poodles, they can be kept by people suffering from allergies. Families with children often have such dogs, as they become wonderful nannies. A puppy can inherit length, color and type of coat from either parent.
  • WITH rottweiler... The strong skeleton of a Labrador retriever bears a certain resemblance to that of a Rottweiler. But puppies that are a cross between these breeds are not popular today. The absolute opposite of the characters of the parents makes it possible to get an unpredictable result. To breed a non-aggressive docile hybrid, more than one generation of dogs should be worked out by crossing.
  • With spaniel... Such a union gives beautiful puppies that grow in size from a Labrador. Mestizos have the kindest expression on their faces. They have mischievous eyes and droopy ears. They look like both of their parents.
  • With staff... Mestizo are stocky, short in stature with a strong muscular build. The staff is often discerned in the dog's appearance, especially in the position of the eyes and the shape of the forehead. But the nose is elongated, like a Labrador, and the coat is slightly longer than that of a staff.
  • WITH dachshund. It is a rare and amazing mixture of animals. The appearance of the mestizo is dominated by the genes of the Labrador, but the short feet are transmitted from the dachshund.
  • With husky... Labski is one of the most popular crosses, she has a lot of husky appearance: a wonderful muzzle, often blue or even multi-colored eyes, but her ears hang like a Labrador. Puppies with erect ears are less common. From a Labrador, mestizos take color and body shape.
  • WITH sharpeem. Breeders rarely combine Shar Pei with a Labrador retriever. Although the mestizo look very cute, they look like a Labrador, only with folds. Muzzles decorated with flews look especially attractive. The size of the mestizo gets average between the two breeds.

How to choose a puppy?

If there is no need to purchase a purebred dog to participate in exhibitions, but you just need a friend and companion, a labrador mestizo is perfect for these purposes. People who have adopted a crossbreed are more likely to want a friendly dog. The presence of 2 breeds when obtaining offspring gives an additional chance to acquire the desired qualities. But it must be remembered that the genes of the parents affect the offspring in different ways. In any case, the puppy should be chosen taking into account the task at hand.

Sentinel mestizo

If a family with small children needs a guard, a dog will need a friendly, with an adequate character, stable psyche and at the same time with guard qualities. In such cases, they turn to mestizo Labradors and guard dogs:

  • St. Bernard - this service dog can pass on to the puppy the genes of a watchman, rescuer, nanny and friend;
  • pinscher - mestizo has the opportunity to be a cheerful, hardy, active watchdog with a powerful hunting instinct;
  • shepherd of any kind are endowed with official and security qualities;
  • mastiff will give the puppy the genes of a bodyguard, watchman and companion;
  • dobermans have unsurpassed protective qualities, but genes of aggression can be transmitted along with them.

Dwarf

Some owners want to have a small, almost toy dog, but most representatives of such breeds do not shine with intelligence, moreover, they often have an evil uncontrollable disposition. The ideal option is to have a puppy with the appearance of a mini-pet and the character of a Labrador. To solve this problem, you can purchase a cross between a Labrador retriever and certain breeds.

  • Spitz - a very cute puppy with an easygoing but temperamental character.
  • Lapdogs funny, lively and good-natured animals. Choosing dwarf breeds can significantly reduce the growth of a mestizo.
  • Pekingese - a mestizo can get a pretty face, average between the built-up form of a Labrador and a flat - Pekingese. The owners will be lucky if the puppy acquires the character of a Labrador.
  • Italian greyhound - a very intelligent and agile dog, which coincides with the disposition of the Labrador. Metis can get a reduction in size and a more elongated snout.

In the next video, you can observe the training abilities of the labrador mestizo.
