Nowadays, few of the fair sex will come out "in the people" without a neat manicure and painted nails. Some people prefer to do it in the salon, others do it themselves, at home. But sometimes, when staining marigolds, it happens that the varnish gets on the clothes. What can you do to get rid of the stain without damaging the fabric?

How to “save” clothes?

Regardless of whether you dripped gel polish or regular nail polish onto the fabric, the first step of cleaning will be the same. It includes the following actions:

  • we take a cotton sponge or an ordinary paper napkin and try to remove the maximum amount of the product from the surface of the fabric;
  • further “into battle” a wooden toothpick enters, with which we are trying to clean the interfiber space in the matter, where the varnish has already managed to seep;
  • after that, we put the soiled thing on a solid horizontal surface, straighten it well, put a white cotton cloth under the speck;
  • Well, now we will act depending on what kind of thing we have stained.

Important! Regardless of the type of fabric and the product chosen, always try this method first on an inconspicuous area of the garment.

How to remove varnish from natural fabric?

Have you stained clothes made of cotton, linen or other natural material with varnish? This is very annoying, since such things are usually not cheap, and it is not so easy to find them on sale. However, do not despair - let's try to save your favorite thing using one of the following means.

  • Acetone. Probably the first thing that comes to mind is to remove the varnish with acetone.And for good reason, because this liquid is the safest for the fabric. To remove a varnish stain with it, take a sponge, moisten it in acetone and gently wipe the fabric. If you managed to get rid of the speck, but there are stains, it is worth blotting them with gasoline and sprinkling with talcum powder on top.
  • Petrol. It is also good as an independent remedy in the fight against stains from nail polish. So, we moisten the damaged area of the fabric in gasoline, leave it for 15 minutes, after which we intensively rub the stain with a clean piece of cloth. Repeat the procedure if necessary.
  • Hydrogen peroxide. Especially indispensable for removing stains from white clothes. We take 3% peroxide, cotton pads, start processing.
  • You can also try to wipe off white things from varnish. using a whitening agent... To do this, moisten the stain in bleach, leave it for 30-40 minutes, after which the product must be washed off the fabric by rinsing the thing under the tap.
  • White Spirit. Also a good proven remedy. We saturate a cotton pad with it, press it tightly to the stain, hold it for a quarter of an hour, wash the thing.

Once one of the above methods has been tried, the soiled clothing should be machine washed on the usual 30 minute program. If you see that the stain has not come off the fabric, repeat the cleaning cycle again, possibly using a different product.

How to wash synthetic clothing?

Synthetics are considered more delicate fabric than the same cotton. The above methods for cleaning natural fabrics will not work here, but with almost a 100% guarantee they will completely ruin the thing. For cleaning synthetics, we recommend taking such products.

  • Acetone-free nail polish remover. We pour it on the stain, literally wait 5-10 seconds, begin to wipe off the pollution with a sponge, moving it strictly in one direction. We change the sponge as it gets dirty.
  • There is a recipe for making your own stain remover. Take 1 tsp. ammonia, 1 tsp. turpentine, 1 tsp. olive oil, mix everything well and apply to the spot. Wait 5-7 minutes, remove the mixture with a paper towel or napkin. Wash your clothes, if necessary repeat the procedure, but only when the item is dry.

Removing nail polish from jeans

Jeans are made from a very special fabric. Remember the color of the water after the first wash of your denim pants - it must have been inky blue. So, because of this staining of the fabric, it cannot be wiped with aggressive agents with a whitening effect. You may remove the varnish, but in its place there will be a whitewashed stain, which you are unlikely to like more. Therefore, before you start processing jeans with something, try applying the product from the wrong side, on an inconspicuous area.

First, soak the nail polish stain with sunflower oil. This will help scrape off any remaining varnish. Just do it carefully so that there are no scratches and puffs on your clothes. Next, proceed depending on the material for making the jeans: if you have them made of pure cotton, use gasoline-clay gruel, and if there is an admixture of lycra, use ammonia-salt.

There is also a universal mixture: mix alcohol with shavings of gray laundry soap, warm the mass a little and treat the stain with a sponge with it.

How to remove dried varnish?

This, of course, is more difficult to do than to erase a fresh stain: the varnish has already thoroughly eaten into the fibers of the fabric and will not want to part with them. However, use the following algorithm of actions and, perhaps, the thing will still be able to be saved.

  • First, turn the garment inside out with the wrong side up. Take a piece of clean white cloth and fold it in several layers. In the absence of such fabric, disposable paper towels will do. Place this lining strictly under the spot.
  • Next, drop a drop of acetone or acetone-containing nail polish remover. Use a syringe or pipette for neat handling.Apply the chosen product drop by drop, over the entire surface of the stain until it disappears completely.
  • Rinse the treated area with water. Replace the cloth or paper towels. Blot the remaining varnish with a cotton pad soaked in solvent. Repeat the procedure until the staining of the sponge stops.
  • Now take the thing, soak it in regular detergent, then wash it in the machine or on your hands. Rinse thoroughly. Air dry to get rid of chemical odor.

How can a stain be removed?

If, after all the above manipulations, the spot from the nail polish still does not go away entirely, but the trace remains, try a couple more proven methods.

  • Oddly enough, insect repellent can help you. To cleanse varnish on fabric, spray with the spray of your choice. Next, soak an unnecessary toothbrush in the product. Rub the stain well until it dissolves, then rinse under running water. Machine wash with a stain remover like Vanish.
  • Soak a sponge in ethyl alcohol. Blot the varnish stain, then start to rub it in a circular motion from the edges to the center. Do this from the inside out, and put a piece of white cloth on the front side. After the streaks disappear, wash the item in the washing machine using the normal wash cycle.

What shouldn't you do?

It is clear that if the thing is beloved and dear, you will want to save it by any means possible. However, you should not rush to extremes and try to clean the varnish spot with everything that comes to hand. First of all, check what fabric the product is made of. What is good for cotton is not suitable for synthetics. So, what you shouldn't do when dealing with nail polish stains on clothes.

  • If varnish gets on a leather or suede item, do not use any solvents.
  • If you have chosen white spirit as a "savior", remember that it can provoke allergies: put on rubber gloves and a protective mask on your face, keep antihistamines on hand.
  • Under the influence of hydrogen peroxide, a bright thing can fade, and a pale spot will remain in place of the varnish stain.
  • If the fabric is very capricious - silk, velvet, organza, then do not use any aggressive means. Try to remove the stain as gently as possible.
  • Never use vinegar and citric acid. These aggressive products can not only fix the stain on the surface, but also increase its brightness.

So, all possible means have been tried, but a stain or a trace of it remains. It's a shame. So what now, as in advertising, to send a thing into a link to a dacha? Don't rush to do this. If the thing is really very dear to you, it may make sense to use the services of a professional dry cleaning. You will spend a small amount, but you will get a clean and beautiful thing.

If you don't want to go to dry cleaning - well, try an alternative method: mask the stain. Yes, yes, just disguise: sew on a beautiful patch, make an original applique, pin the brooch in the end. Now is the time when such designer details in clothes look very stylish and modern. Match the pattern to your style and carry your favorite item further.
