In recent years, the hair lamination procedure has gained immense popularity. In the article, we will take a closer look at the features, important nuances and rules for carrying out this procedure, get acquainted with the most popular recipes for compositions and masks, and also find out how to properly laminate the hair to oneself.

Peculiarities

Lamination is a special procedure for applying various compositions to the hair, which is covered with a thin protective film. This film helps protect hair from external factors, as well as fill in damaged internal parts and retain moisture inside the structure.

The peculiarity of the procedure at home using not expensive formulations, but folk methods, is that chemical components do not cause additional harm to hair, therefore, after rinsing the composition, they will not become even more brittle and dry than before the procedure.

Natural ingredients, on the contrary, will help nourish, and with the help of a cumulative effect, restore damaged structures.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like any other procedure, home lamination has both advantages and disadvantages.

Among the advantages are:

  • all components are of natural origin, which makes the procedure completely safe for the health of hair and scalp;
  • thanks to natural ingredients, the action of the procedure is aimed at nourishing, moisturizing and strengthening the hair structures;
  • with the correct procedure, the curls are covered with a shell, so they will be protected from the harmful effects of the external environment;
  • if the procedure is performed on dyed hair, the color pigment lasts much longer;
  • in addition to nourishing and strengthening, the procedure also affects the external condition of the hair, making it more shiny and silky;
  • silkiness and manageability of the hair makes styling easier.

    The disadvantages include:

    • the procedure is not suitable for every hair type;
    • during the procedure, due to the application and absorption of part of the formulations, the strands become heavier, which means that the hair may lose part of the root volume;
    • the weight of the hair may also increase the risk of follicle loss;
    • various components of even natural compositions for home lamination can cause allergies due to individual intolerance to certain ingredients;
    • staining after the procedure may be useless;
    • in addition, the procedure will not produce any effect on the extended strands.

    Necessary funds

      Depending on the method of the procedure, you may need different ingredients that have a certain effect on the structure, appearance and condition of the hair.

      Let's take a closer look at what you may need for lamination of hair at home and figure out what functions each product performs.

      Be sure to need foil so that when heated with an iron or hairdryer, the lamination effect is achieved, but without damaging the hair. Foil can be used in two ways: to separate each strand or to wrap the entire hair.

      To make a mask according to one of the recipes, you will need gelatin. The option is the simplest in composition and easily accomplished at home.

      Castor oil is needed in order to smooth the scales on damaged hair, nourish them with useful substances and make them silky and shiny.

      One recipe uses coconut milk. This ingredient is very useful for protecting hair from the harmful effects of the environment, making it soft and nourishing the vitamins contained in natural ingredients.

      In order to be able to carry out lamination with your own hands at home, you may need some tools:

      • convenient dishes in which you can prepare a mask and heat it;
      • a reliable comb - it is best that this be a double-sided option with a number of large teeth, as well as a number of small, frequent teeth;
      • to apply the mask to the hair, you will need a hairdresser's brush with stiff bristles;
      • to cover the head after applying the mask, you will need a thick plastic cap;
      • and in order for the heating effect to be more effective and last longer, it is better to use a thick towel made from natural materials.

        3. To make your hair easier to comb, you can treat it with a special spray that detangles unruly curls.
        4. Hair must be thoroughly combed and divided into separate strands.
        5. At the next stage, the composition is prepared and applied to the strands.You can use a special brush, or do everything with your hands - it depends on the convenience and length of the curls.
        6. After applying the composition, you need to wrap the strands in foil.
        7. We heat the iron to the maximum temperature and thoroughly warm each wrapped strand with it. If the hair is very short and it is impossible to use an iron, then we warm it up with a hairdryer.
        8. After heat treatment of the strands, we put on a hat.
        9. Next, you need to wait a certain amount of time. It is individual for each recipe.
        10. Remove the cap and foil, rinse the hair with a gentle product under cool water and use a hair conditioner.

        Recipes

        In order to achieve the lamination effect on your own, there are many recipes for various formulations that are suitable for both colored hair and curls damaged by exposure to high temperatures.

        Honey based

          In order to prepare a honey-based laminating product, you will need the following ingredients:

          • honey - 1 tsp;
          • chicken egg - 1 pc.;
          • castor oil - 1 tbsp l .;
          • eucalyptus or calendula oil - a few drops.

          The honey should be warmed up in a water bath and mixed with oils and an egg. Then the dishes with the mask must be removed to a cool place so that the composition cools down and thickens a little, after which we apply it to the curls, heat it and leave it on the hair for 30-40 minutes.

          Kefir-based

          This mask differs in that it includes not only natural ingredients of natural origin, but also vitamins. We need:

          Gelatin based

          This is perhaps the most popular and most effective homemade hair lamination recipe.Gelatin masks are useful due to the fact that they have not only an external effect on the hair, but also have a cumulative effect, filling the structure of each hair.

          To prepare a mask, you must have:

          • food gelatin (granular) - the amount depends on the length of the hair, from 1 to 5 tbsp. l .;
          • water - 3 tablespoons for each spoonful of gelatin;
          • balm for hair.

          Gelatin must be poured with water, the granules must be allowed to swell, after which they must be melted in a water bath until smooth so that there are no lumps left. The composition should be applied to clean, damp hair, without getting on the roots. You can apply the mask to individual strands, wrapping them in foil, or all over the hair. In the second case, foil is used to wrap the entire head.

          Then we put a hat on our hair or additionally wrap it in a plastic bag, wrap it in a warm towel. The mask must be heated and kept on the head for about an hour, after which it must be washed off without using shampoo, and the hair must be allowed to dry on its own.

          How long does it last?

          Undoubtedly, every girl who liked hair lamination wants the impressive effect of the procedure to last as long as possible, but it does not always live up to expectations.

          The thing is that the duration of the effect depends on many factors, but even with a minimal effect of each of them, it does not last more than 6 weeks.

          For a longer lasting effect, the components of herbal home remedies are not enough, and if you want to do the procedure for a long time, it is better to resort to salon services.

          Let's consider in more detail what determines the duration of the procedure.

          • The initial condition of the hair. If they are badly damaged, do not wait for a long-term effect the first time, in which case it will be cumulative.
          • The state of the body. It also happens that during some certain diseases or hormonal disruptions, any procedures have practically no effectiveness.
          • External influences. If you wash your hair very often with a deep cleansing shampoo or use different thermal hair styling methods, the outer lamination shell will very quickly become thinner and the hair will become brittle and dry again.
          • Finally, various natural factors can affect the duration of the procedure. For example, excessive exposure to sunlight in summer in hot weather, salty sea water or severe frost. In such cases, it is worth covering your head with panamas, hats and warm hats.

          Hair care after the procedure

            The duration of the lamination effect directly depends on the subsequent hair care. Therefore, it is necessary to familiarize yourself with some rules and recommendations.

            • As already mentioned, you need to wash your hair with a gentle shampoo containing only natural ingredients, without SLS and parabens. The same goes for hair balm.
            • You need to comb your hair gently, first detangling the ends and gradually moving up to the roots.
            • To keep your hair shiny for longer, it is recommended to rinse it with cool nettle infusion after washing.
            • To dry your hair, it is best to use the cool air blower mode, or let it dry on its own.
            • A light massage using extracts of various oils, for example, castor, burdock, olive, linseed or coconut, has a positive effect.
            • To keep your hair healthy and shiny for a longer time, and their number does not decrease, do not repeat the procedure too often. About once every six months, you need to give your hair a rest and get saturated with oxygen molecules, since too frequent weighting of the curls can lead to their loss.

            Reviews

            If you study the reviews about this procedure, it becomes clear that opinions are divided, since some girls enjoy it from salon procedures with professional means, while others prefer natural remedies, considering their effectiveness is no worse.

            Most of the girls prefer masks with gelatin, noting their effective properties and long-term effect. The rest of the opinions are divided among other recipes, but almost all of them feature honey and various nutritious oils.
