Even a neat person is not immune from stains on clothes. Some of them are easy to remove with normal washing, while others require special treatment. Stains from oranges, juice from this citrus are classified as complex.

Features of pollution

Oranges can leave noticeable and difficult to wash stains on clothes. This is due to the high concentration of organic acids and coloring pigments in their composition. The former begin to corrode the tissue, disrupting the structure of the fibers. This, in turn, allows the pigment to penetrate deeply into the fibers, coloring them.

Time is of the essence in the fight against pollution from orange citrus fruits. Fresh stains, if you start fighting them immediately after the appearance of the stain, sometimes it is possible to remove even with plain water. In other words, the pigment at this moment is on the surface of the fabric and seems to be washed off from it.

If more than an hour has passed, especially several hours or days, then the fibers of the tissue are damaged, and the pigment is eaten deeply.

Fabric cleaners

Not every stain remover will deal with orange stains. The packaging of the product should indicate that it copes with this kind of trouble. Another point is to make sure the stain remover is suitable for a particular fabric. Most are effective on white fabrics, but can ruin the colored garment.

Preference should be given to plant-based formulations without chlorine and other aggressive components in the formulation. Stubborn dirt can be removed from white with bleach. You do not need to pour it directly onto the stain, it is worth moistening the sponge in the composition, even better - dilute it a little with water.

Bleach pencils are also becoming quite popular. They are convenient to use and almost all of them cope with orange marks on the fabric.

Removal methods

One of the simplest and safest ways to remove orange stains is to place them under cold water. However, this method "works" only on fresh stains, placed no later than 10-15 minutes.

It is enough to turn on cold water and place the place of pollution under the flowing stream. The time of such exposure will be 2-3 minutes. However, the hostess herself will see that the stain first faded, and then completely disappeared. After that, you should wash the item in a suitable way.

Another option is to sprinkle table salt on the fresh stain. It is left on clothes for 7-10 minutes, after which it is washed off with cool water. Finally, the item is washed in a suitable way. Exposure to salt can be hazardous to colored and delicate fabrics.

White items that do not sit in hot water can be boiled over. To do this, a very hot liquid is poured directly onto the stain until it disappears.

Another effective, but in some cases dangerous, way to remove a fresh orange stain is to treat it with vinegar. An important point - you cannot pour vinegar essence directly onto the pollution. First, a cotton pad or swab is moistened with the liquid, with which the contamination is gently processed. This should be done until the stain turns pale and disappears. Then, be sure to rinse the item in warm water.

Citric acid can be used in place of vinegar. First you need to prepare a bleaching solution by adding 10 ml of hot water and 1 teaspoon of acid. The composition is applied with a cotton swab to the dirt, after which it is necessary to give the product 10-20 minutes to activate. Then you should rinse off the lemon concentrate and wash the thing in the usual way.

The use of citric acid can be combined with soaking or steaming. First, the thing is soaked in soapy water or treated with steam, after which the stain is covered with a lemon composition and the actions described above are performed.

A much bigger problem is old stains. One of the technologies involves removing them with hot steam. To do this, the thing must be kept over steam for several hours, then soaked in powder and, finally, washed by hand or in a machine.

Most of the described methods are suitable for further washing both by hand and by machine. The determining factor will be the quality and characteristics of the fabric. However, sometimes it is necessary to resort to hand washing or using an automatic machine.

In the washing machine

Orange stain can be treated with glycerin. It is sold at the pharmacy. You just need to pour it on the stain and leave it for an hour and a half, then rinse the thing under water and send it to the washing machine. First you need to set the "prewash" mode, and then the usual one - the one that is suitable for a particular thing.

Manually

Perhaps the most common and time-consuming way to get rid of an old orange stain is to soak things for many hours. To do this, washing powder dissolves in warm water, which this time you need to take a little more than usual. The soaking solution should be concentrated.

Soaking should last 2-3 hours, you can periodically check the stain and lightly wash it off. After the end of soaking, the stain can be rubbed more intensively with your hands or with a brush until it disappears completely. After that, it is recommended to wash the item by hand.

When removing stains from bulky and oversized things (for example, a carpet), you can prepare the following mixture - mix soda and dishwashing gel. The latter should be taken 2 times more than soda. Apply the product for 30 minutes, then rinse with water and rinse with a sponge.

Advice

Before using any of the above methods or a ready-made anti-stain composition, make sure that the composition will not ruin the fabric. To do this, a small amount of it is applied to the seam and left for 10-15 minutes. If after this time no negative changes are found on the tissue, you can use the product.

A little trick will help to avoid the appearance of streaks and a new stain around the existing dirt during its removal. To do this, sprinkle the area around the contamination with talcum powder or wheat flour.

You can't just remove the stain and plan to keep wearing the item. When dry, streaks may form, and the stain itself will manifest itself in a lesser intensity. In this regard, after removing stains, the thing must be washed using powder. This will help prevent the described troubles from occurring.
