Probably, every girl once faced such a problem as an ugly lipstick stain on the collar of her favorite blouse or the cuff of an expensive dress. The first reaction to such a find is anger and despair from the fact that now you will have to part with a thing that is dear to your heart, because it is known that it is almost impossible to wash lipstick in a regular typewriter, and dry cleaners are not always careful in working with clothes, so there is an even greater risk ruin a thing. But do not rush to despair - in fact, there are a huge number of ways to quickly and without harm to things remove an ugly lipstick stain.

What's the first thing to do?

To begin with, you need to calm down and not make hasty decisions, because most things in such a situation were hopelessly ruined not so much by lipstick as by the thoughtless actions of its owner. It is advised first of all to remove the maximum amount of lipstick with a dry paper napkin, but in no case do this with rubbing movements, it is better softly and easily touch the tissue with the napkin, each time turning the paper over with a clean edge until the surface of the napkin turns white after touching the garment.

But no way do not do it with rubbing movements, it is better to gently and lightly touch the tissue with the tissue, each time turning the paper over with a clean edge until the surface of the tissue turns white after touching the clothes. However, remember that any manipulations with the tissue must be carried out immediately, otherwise the cosmetics will be deeply absorbed into the material.

After the lipstick is peeled off as much as possible, you can proceed to further actions, and here a lot depends on what kind of thing you inadvertently ruined.

How to clean a stain from a white garment?

The worst nightmare of any fashionista is an ugly, bright red lipstick stain on a crisp white shirt.And despite the fact that our psyche perceives dirt on white things much more sharply than on a colorful blouse or a dress with small polka dots, in fact, white things are much easier to "reanimate", if only because in this case we can safely pour bleach on the affected garment.

But if you are against such a radical way of solving the problem, try one of the options below:

  • Salt and lemon juice should be found in the kitchen of any housewife. All you need to do is to mix these two components in a 1: 1 ratio, massage the stain with the resulting mixture, leave it to soak in for 30 minutes, and after this time, rinse the item thoroughly. If that doesn't work, try treating the stain with vinegar. Combined with previous exposure to salt and lemon, the vinegar should completely remove the stain from the white fabric.

By the way, salt can be substituted for baking soda in the same proportions.

  • Ammonia perfect in that situation if you find a stain after some time, and it has already had time to properly "eat" into the fabric. In order to remove a stain in this way, you need to take two small (stain-sized) pieces of white cloth, one of which you put under the stain, and the other you cover the stain. Further, the actions are extremely simple - rub the stain with an upper cloth until it disappears.

Of course, both pieces of fabric must first be thoroughly moistened in ammonia.

  • Petrolis known to cope perfectly with any kind of pollution. You just need to collect a small amount of it on a cotton swab and wipe the stain. If the fabric retains gasoline stains, get rid of them with vinegar.
  • Hydrogen peroxide Is also a good option. True, here you need to be patient, the stain needs to be processed many times, until it completely disappears.
  • The last method is perhaps the easiest to implement at home - use the most common dishwashing liquid... As you know, the composition of such products includes components that actively fight against oil-based materials, so feel free to apply the product to the stain, leave it there for a couple of minutes, rub the dirt well with a brush and thoroughly rinse the thing under running water.

By the way, you can take laundry soap instead of dishwashing detergent.

The main condition when working with any of the above methods is to thoroughly rinse the fabric, otherwise the product will be firmly absorbed into the fabric and the result may be the most unpredictable.

How to save colored items?

Removing red lipstick from a colored shirt or colorful dress is also not that difficult:

  1. You can use the most common eye makeup remover, it is especially good if one is oily-based - this type of care cosmetics is designed to cleanse the face, including from waterproof makeup, so it will cope with ordinary lipstick quickly.
  2. It is often recommended to use turpentine in this situation, but the effect will be much more noticeable if ether is added to it in equal proportions. After processing the contamination, you need to wash the item in the usual way, and then rinse it thoroughly in cold water. Sometimes, after such manipulations, the thing retains a pungent smell of turpentine - in this case, use any fabric softener at the next wash.
  3. A small amount of pre-warmed glycerin can also help - the stain needs to be treated with it, and after an hour, remove the remaining lipstick with a brush and wash the clothes as usual.
  4. Ammonia (aka ammonia) will save not only your snow-white thing, but also any colored piece of clothing. However, remember about safety precautions and use it only in a well-ventilated area.
  5. If none of these substances are at hand at the moment, try using toothpaste. To do this, you need to take a new, not yet used (but soft) toothbrush, apply toothpaste to the stain, rub the stain properly, wait fifteen minutes and start washing. You can also do the same with shaving cream. They say that this also gives a result without the risk of damaging the tissue.

By the way, if none of these methods helped, there is still the last option - take some talcum powder and a blotter, put talcum powder on the stain, and put paper on the stain and under it, and then go over the thing with an iron (though not hot, but only slightly warmed up).

How to save a denim item?

Despite the fact that when they talk about a trace of lipstick on clothes, the imagination immediately draws a snow-white men's shirt with a characteristic mark in the shape of a kiss, statistics say that in two cases out of five jeans things turn out to be stained. It would seem that a little rough denim cannot be saved - the more you rub the stain, the more it is absorbed. But specialists have a couple of recommendations for this case too:

  • take rubbing alcohol (or vodka, if not available) and a cotton swab, treat the stain until it disappears, and then wash the thing as you usually do;
  • Hydrogen peroxide is fine too, but it's better to use it if the jeans are light-colored, because the hydrogen peroxide treatment will give a slight whitening effect.

What to do if outer clothing is stained?

Of course, it won't be difficult to wipe the lipstick stain from a leather jacket or, say, a raincoat fabric, for this you don't even need special recommendations. But if your favorite velor or wool coat is stained, you have to try. But it is also not worth falling into a state of panic - this problem can be solved, if the stain is relatively fresh... Take any chlorine-free stain remover and work on the stain.

In extreme cases, regular rubbing alcohol is suitable. But if the stain has time to dry, only dry cleaning will help here.

Down jackets in this regard are not so whimsical - you can safely treat the stain with turpentine, and then wash this place as thoroughly as possible with a damp sponge. Another technique, albeit very non-standard at first glance, is a regular hairspray. It needs to be sprayed onto the stain, and then with a brush, remove the lipstick from the fabric, however, this will only work if the varnish is not allowed to dry on the clothes.

By the way, it is no secret that there are also special products, special cleaning pencils, which are specially invented to remove makeup stains from clothes.

In more detail about how to remove lipstick marks from outerwear, the following video will tell.

For which fabrics, which method is preferable?

Despite the fact that the choice of a method for removing a stain depends more on the color of the fabric, do not forget that not every fabric will withstand the effects of gasoline or ammonia. True, if a thing stained with lipstick is made of expensive and delicate fabric, it is better not even to think about any home way of removing the stain. But here are a couple of recommendations for combining fabrics and cleaning products:

  • feel free to use soda with lemon juice, as well as toothpaste when working with any fabric;
  • it is better to treat wool with those products that contain alcohol;
  • cotton will not be damaged by contact with hydrogen peroxide and dishwashing detergent.

And remember that any stain needs to be cleaned, moving from the edge of the dirt to its middle, and if the stain is too large, it is recommended to start cleaning from the wrong side of the fabric. This will help avoid divorce.
