Red stain on a new blouse. Really rust, but from where? Tell me, to whom has life not presented such an unpleasant surprise? You can not answer, most likely, everyone experienced such confusion and disappointment. Let's figure out how to get out of such a situation.

Reasons for the appearance

The reasons for the appearance of rust on clothes should be listed, but it is completely impossible to exclude and prevent them. Stains are provoked by metal structures, on which we sometimes dry our clothes. For example, the same radiators (even new ones) that seem to us to be immaculately clean.

However, paint often peels off on them imperceptibly in some places, and bare iron comes into contact with a damp cloth. The same disadvantages can apply to dryers.

Children often bring rust from the yard on their clothes, because you can't always trace how often they touch metal swings and carousels. At home, they put clean and dirty laundry in one basket - that's the problem. Cases are not excluded when adults sit down on the bench in thought, not noticing the emerging corrosion of the metal.

In a hurry, trousers are often loaded into a washing machine with keys and key chains not removed from them. The spots are guaranteed! They can leave red marks and pins, brooches. But there is still a threat of nuts, coins, paper clips, and some other metal trifles getting out of pockets into the wash.

Upon contact with water, they all become sources of your worries, spoil the look of things with specific divorces.

Incorrect washing cannot be ruled out when there are metal parts in the machine not isolated from water. The sad primacy in the appearance of rust is held by not too high-quality buttons, zippers or rivets on clothes. Stains appear on jeans, dresses and skirts instantly.

How to deal with them? The main thing is to get down to business faster, while the stain is fresh and the rust has not grabbed onto the fabric. But if you are not sure that you will be able to cope with the task on your own, immediately take the soiled thing to the dry-cleaner. However, there are many proven ways to get rid of an unexpected "mark" and at home.

Just don't rush headlong into the breakout. Find out what fabric the item is sewn from and choose the right product.

Funds

There are enough of them to fight rust, both natural and chemical. Natural ones include lemon juice, wine vinegar, salt and some other components. Chemicals include hydrogen peroxide, ammonium sulphide, dishwasher detergent, assorted store products - "Antipyatin", "Sarma", "Oxy", "Vanish" and a dozen or a half other compositions.

As a rule, water is present in "cocktails" for removing red flaws:

  • There are options for mixing glycerin, liquid soap and water, as well as glycerin, water and chalk.
  • Oxalic acid and acetic acid are also mixed with water. Such a composition helps well in the fight against old stains.

All means of dealing with rust are divided into folk methods and professional ones. Folk remedies include:

  • For example, if you add two tablespoons of essence to a glass of water, heat the mixture, hold the product in it for 10 minutes and rinse it in water with the addition of ammonia, then the rust will go away.
  • You can bring your clothes back into a presentable look with wine vinegar. Stir a teaspoon of vinegar in a glass of water, soak the stained area with this product, and then rinse well.
  • Don't neglect the turpentine talcum powder. The manipulations are as follows: moisten the red spot with turpentine, talcum powder on top, cover everything with paper and after 15 hours pass the sheet with an iron. A good effect is usually guaranteed. Then wash the item by hand.
  • Onions are also registered in the national arsenal. It is driven through a meat grinder without husks, then diluted with glycerin (35 ml) and this suspension is spread over the place with the "redhead". The stain removal period is 3 hours. After a while, the affected area is still rubbed with lemon. And only then - they wash trousers or a skirt with a stain.

These are proven folk tricks.

How to remove stains?

Most of all, rust is afraid of acid, so this remedy is best harass "marriage":

  • You can cut off a circle of live lemon, wrap it in a thin white cloth, and place it on the stain.
  • Put a hot iron on top, run it over the soiled area.
  • Then wash the item well with the powder.

Use citric acid instead of lemon also boldly:

  • Dissolve a small bag in 200-250 ml of water, heat, almost bringing to a boil.
  • Dip a part of the affected tissue there for 5 minutes.
  • At the finish - regular wash with powder.

The hardened spots are the most resistant. Two acids can be used against them at once - acetic and oxalic. On a glass take one and the other, 5 grams. The solution is heated, the injured thing is put into it for 3 hours. The spots "fade" and turn pale.

Gruel is prepared from ordinary table vinegar and salt without water. Smear a stain on it for 20 minutes. After that, wash the clothes in warm water. Acid can be too dangerous for thin and delicate tissues. Here you can advise to prepare a solution: liquid soap, glycerin, water in equal proportions. The spots are soaked with the composition for a day. Then gently wash your wardrobe with the addition of the powder.

You can use chalk instead of liquid soap.

Effectively removes rust with a solution of 200 ml of water, 30 ml of oxalic acid and a spoonful of soda. Keep on the spot for a quarter of an hour, at the end of the procedure, wash well.Hydrogen peroxide 100% neutralizes the stain (take about 5% concentration, no more). Soaking for 40 minutes and rinsing should wipe out the stain. If you get very strong pollution, then you can repeat everything. When you start washing after manipulations, choose an intensive mode and wash in bleaching powders.

It is worth saying a few words about such extreme stain removal as the process of adding a plumbing cleaner. But such risks can be taken only with a cotton cloth and only in the case of a stubborn stain. It is necessary to moisten the place with rust with the composition and rub it so that the foam comes out. Then you need to rinse and wash the clothes thoroughly.

White clothes

Several ways have been tested by millions of housewives on how to remove rust from white clothes. Let's consider the most popular ones:

  1. Make a homemade mixture of half a glass of water and a large spoonful of citric acid. Heat, but do not boil. Dip the thing spoiled by red stains in it. In a few minutes, you can remove a stain on a white shirt. It will just disappear.
  2. For a thin snow-white blouse, it is most safe to use hydrosulfide, a small spoon in a glass of water. The solution is brought to 50-60 degrees, then a section of things with contamination is introduced into it. The stain dissolves almost before our eyes. Just do not forget to stretch at the end.
  3. For traces of “aged” rust on white items, it is safe to use oxalic acid in combination with acetic acid. Both strong acids should be added in the amount of half a spoonful in 200 ml of water. Dip the injured thing in a warm solution, keep it in it for 2-3 hours. The rust will dissolve, and do not forget to rinse the item in a liter of water with the addition of 150 ml of ammonia. Then be sure to ventilate the room.
  4. If the fabric is white and at the same time dense and strong, then you can try to clean the rust with bleach. The problem area should be moistened with this "chemistry", held in this state for several minutes, and then washed as usual. Likewise, remove the unwanted stain from the strong white canvas with bleach.
  5. Handle the bleach very carefully. It is "shown" for white shirts and T-shirts, which have been "encroached upon" by rust, but under certain circumstances, the threat of the transition of a red stain to an unwashable dark remains. To avoid this "surprise", choose a bleach in which the main component is acetic or oxalic acid.

To do this, do not be too lazy to carefully read the description of the chemical.

Colored fabrics

But chlorine-containing compounds will not work for colored fabrics. They can destroy dyes. It is best to wipe off a rusty stain from jeans without using chemical acids, but using natural lemon juice. It is not as aggressive and will not ruin the color of the jeans. The algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. Pour and boil water in a saucepan.
  2. Place the stains over the steam, pour some freshly squeezed lemon juice on the steamed denim.
  3. Let your trousers "steam" for 5 minutes - and you can rinse them in lukewarm water. The stains will disappear.

There is another good recipe for anti-rust jeans:

  1. Prepare a mushy mixture using toothpaste, salt and vinegar (equally divided).
  2. Smear the soiled areas with gruel, hold for 5 minutes.
  3. Then you wash as usual.

Other colored fabrics recover well if stains are treated with a mixture of glycerin and chalk in water. For 24 hours at the place of pollution we keep a creamy gruel, then we wash clothes. Acetic acid is quite acceptable for cleaning colored items, because it fixes the paint. Pour 5 tablespoons of acid into 7 liters of water and soak the thing in the solution for 12 hours. As a result, we erase, and the stain goes away.

Cleaning of rust from outerwear is carried out depending on the material:

  1. Rust is removed from a jacket in the same way as from other colored items.A fresh stain can sometimes be simply wiped off with a slice of lemon.
  2. It will be more difficult to wash the red blot from woolen clothes. It is better to use a stain remover with a special chemical composition.
  3. In cleaning wool, it is also recommended to use coal powder with kerosene. The ingredients are taken equally. Further - in a thick layer, you need to apply the mixture to the place with rust and do not touch for 3 hours.

The stain will lighten and "evaporate", after which it is necessary to wash with a small amount of powder.

Universal ways

The addition of dishwasher detergent is suitable for removing both old and fresh dirt. Pour 5 liters of warm water into a container, add 100 ml of dishwasher liquid and 120 ml of glycerin to it. Lower the contaminated clothing, cover the container with plastic and leave it for 5 hours. Then you transfer the item to the washing machine and wash it as usual.

Rust stains on almost anything can be treated with a high oxygen stain remover suitable for fine fabrics. Experts recommend the composition in the form of a gel. The procedure is as follows:

  • treat the contamination with a gel-applied brush;
  • leave the gel to "run" according to the instructions (usually 10 minutes);
  • wash the thing with your hands with the addition of powder;
  • the stain may not succumb, then repeat everything again.

If the fabric is resistant to acid, a rusty "misunderstanding" should be simply rubbed with lemon. It will eat away at pollution. Then sprinkle the area with salt and place in the sun to dry. Ultraviolet light will "carry away" the remains of the stain. The following video will tell you how to do this in more detail.

Recommendations

Do not soak clothes contaminated with rust. Rust is an iron oxide. In the water, stains may creep. In order not to rub the dirt, use any means, brushes and just your hands when handling it. Move from the edge of the problem area to the center. It is safer to work with rubber gloves.

It is better to do this with open windows.

Shake off any dust from the item before starting the stain. Apply any composition from the inside out. Do not drop the maximum concentration of the solution onto the stain immediately. Start with the more gentle ones. Use a cotton swab or soft cloth. After the stain has succumbed, it is more correct to rinse the thing first, and then wash it.

Remember that rust is a tough stain to remove. This is a capricious and cunning rival of the hostesses. No matter how good the listed means of combating stains are, they do not give you a 100% guarantee, so take care of your things and wear them as carefully as possible.
