Contamination removal methods

Nowadays, grease stains can be removed in different ways. Starting from folk recipes and ending with special modern means.

Washing powder

The most common and unsophisticated way is ordinary washing powder. But when used correctly, powder is a great stain remover. Just wash your favorite item in the washing machine with added powder.

You can also sprinkle some powder on the dirty area of the fabric, cover with a paper towel and iron with a hot iron. If this method did not work for you, do not be sad, read the following methods for removing oily stains.

Stain remover

The product must be used with extreme caution. Before starting work, be sure to read the instructions, as the stain remover is a specialized chemical-based product. The procedure for selecting a stain remover is as follows:

  1. First you need to determine if this stain remover works with your jeans.
  2. You also want to know if your jeans are rated for the stain remover.

Choose the right product carefully. After all, if you use an unsuitable stain remover, then this is fraught with not only washing off the greasy stain, but also the appearance of lighter stains on the fabric. For example, from using bleach.

Laundry soap

This method can be classified as "folk recipes". Laundry soap is great for fighting old oil stains. Cleaning is done like this:

  1. Moisten the soap and rub the dirty area on the fabric.
  2. After about an hour, wash off the lather with water.

If the stain has not been removed, we repeat the procedure and wash it in the machine as usual. It is worth paying attention to the fact that if the oily blot is very old, it is best to rub it with soap several times, wrap the jeans in a plastic bag and leave the thing to lie down before washing for at least 12 hours.

There is also a way with the addition of regular sugar:

  1. We repeat the manipulation with the soap, but do not wash it off.
  2. Add a pinch of sugar to the area that needs cleaning.
  3. Let this mixture brew for 10-15 minutes, then brush everything off.
  4. We wash it by hand or in a washing machine.

Dishwashing detergent

Soap detergent with special ingredients perfectly copes with greasy stains:

  1. It's best to soak your jeans in water and detergent first.
  2. Before washing, add a little bit of dish detergent to the detergent powder (in the same compartment). This procedure is needed in order to enhance the effectiveness of the powder.

But, if you don't use a washing machine, it doesn't matter. You can fill the stain with detergent, rub this place until a light foam forms and leave the thing to lie down for a while, then wash it by hand.

Paper towel

We apply a towel to the area where the problem has arisen for just a couple of minutes. Blotting the oily blot with a paper towel immediately makes it much easier to clean the greasy stain in the future.

Although a paper towel is a fairly commonplace device, it absorbs most of the fat and makes further difficult control of this kind of stains more effective. Note that it is useless to use a paper towel on old stains.

Toothpaste

This unpretentious hygiene product not only protects our teeth from caries and other diseases of the oral cavity, but also perfectly removes oily blots. To remove the stain, simply cover the stained area with a layer of toothpaste and leave the jeans on for a while.

After this time has elapsed, wash the item in the washing machine as usual, or do it by hand. Remember when using this method, it is not recommended to iron the fabric with an iron. Simply spread the paste on your jeans and then wash.

Petrol

  1. Apply a few drops of gasoline to the problem area.
  2. After a couple of minutes, the fuel must be washed off with cold water. Don't worry, the unpleasant smell from gasoline will disappear on its own over a period of time.

While gasoline is the fastest-acting grease stain remover, it is not suitable in all cases. Before applying fuel to the stain, it is best to test it on an inconspicuous area on your jeans.

Because gasoline is a very corrosive substance, if handled improperly, it can corrode the area of paint on the fabric. It is necessary to handle it as carefully as possible.

Grated potatoes

Chopped potatoes, along with modern remedies, do an excellent job of removing oil marks on your favorite clothes:

  1. First you need to grate the potatoes on a fine grater.
  2. Apply potato gruel to the contaminated area. Best applied from the inside out.
  3. After half an hour, you need to remove the gruel from the clothes, it is better to do this with a crust of rye bread.
  4. We wash a thing by hand or on a washing machine.

Turpentine and alcohol

A great way to get old greasy stains out of your clothes:

  1. First you need to mix alcohol with turpentine. The ratio is 50/50.
  2. We process the dirty area on the jeans with the resulting solution.
  3. After the performed procedure, we put the thing in the machine and wash it.

If you want to enhance the effect of this solution, you can add some shavings from grated soap to it. This will greatly speed up the process of removing the stain.

White vinegar

Every self-respecting housewife in the house will definitely have white vinegar or vinegar suspension. Therefore, there should be no problems with finding it, unlike gasoline.

To wash off the stain, simply moisten a paper towel generously with vinegar and blot the greasy area. This option is the most good for removing old, stubborn stains... It is best to test the suspension on an inconspicuous area of fabric before removing any dirt. Since it could be damaged.

Artificial sweetener

This method also does not lag behind others in terms of its effectiveness:

  1. Apply some artificial sweetener to the damaged area.
  2. It is enough to hold it for about 20 minutes, after the time has elapsed, wash it off with cold water.
  3. We wash a thing in a washing machine or by hand.

Ether and magnesia

You are in luck if you have such antique components at your fingertips, because they are also good at removing stains:

  1. To remove the greasy blot, you need to mix ether with magnesia, in a 50/50 ratio.
  2. Rub the resulting essence into the dirty area of the fabric.
  3. Let the solution brew for about 3 hours.
  4. After this operation, wash things in the washing machine.

chalk

If you don't have powder on hand, no problem. You can add chalk as in its chemical structure, it looks more like tooth powder:

  1. Rub the oily area with chalk, apply it evenly, in a small layer.
  2. Clean the item from the chalk with a regular brush.
  3. We wash it in a typewriter or by hand. It is necessary to add washing powder in order to accurately remove the stain from the thing.

Heat treatment

To remove grease from clothes, you can use an iron:

  1. Turn the jeans inside out and lay them on a flat surface.
  2. Place a paper towel on the stained area under the jeans.
  3. Cover the oily blot with talcum powder or starch.
  4. Cover this mixture with another paper towel and iron.

This method is effective in that the absorbent will absorb the fat melted by the iron.

Salt

Probably, many of us, after getting something greasy on our clothes, people are advised to fill the area with table salt. Well, surprisingly, this method is really effective:

  1. Apply a pinch of salt to the stained area of your clothing.
  2. The salt will be absorbed within 3-4 hours.
  3. After the procedure, brush off the salt and wash. Manually or using a washing machine.

Summing up, we can say that it is better to select these methods, depending on the degree of contamination of your clothes.
