Almost every apartment has a loggia or balcony. Most often they are used as a storage room or a warehouse for unnecessary things. With proper arrangement, additional square meters can be turned into a cozy seating area and at the same time leave a place for storing things.

Layout options

There are several options for the layout of the loggia.

  • Square and rectangular... This form of the loggia makes it possible to design it in any style, while using every square meter functionally. Smooth walls and the possibility of creating niches allow you to create additional storage space in the form of shelves and cabinets, as well as place chairs and even a sofa.
    • Semicircular. When creating a design project for a loggia of such a shape, keep in mind that it is only necessary to furnish it with streamlined furniture with smooth lines. Sharp corners are best avoided when designing.
      • Corner. These loggias have the shape of the letter "G". As a rule, they are narrow, however, this does not interfere with furnishing them with compact furniture, using folding tables or, for example, making a built-in wardrobe.

In addition, the loggias can be open or glazed. The choice is yours, however, glazed balconies have several advantages.

      • Keeps warm... A room with a glazed balcony will be much warmer than with an open version.
      • Purity. Less street dust gets into an enclosed space. In addition, you will not receive garbage from neighbors on the upper floors. Agree, gobies from cigarettes, seeds, crumbs are not very pleasant surprises.
      • Security. The glazed loggia is better protected from thieves.
      • Independent of weather conditions... Snow can accumulate on an open loggia in winter, and water in rainy weather.
      • Possibility to use it as a small independent room. If you not only glaze, but also insulate the loggia, and also competently approach the organization of its space and design, then you can use it as a full-fledged room.

      Color combinations

When choosing a palette of colors for decorating a loggia, it is important to adhere to some principles.

      • Light colors will visually enlarge a small space.
      • If the loggia faces the north side, then it is better to do without cold and dark tones.
      • Bright colors are preferable to use in the form of accents. Otherwise, the space will appear smaller.
      • If you have chosen a mosaic, picture or panel as decoration, then it is better to make the rest of the walls in light colors so that they serve as a background. Do not overload a small space with a riot of colors and unnecessary decor elements.
      • The materials and paint used for finishing the loggia must be resistant to fading.

These colors are most often used.

      • White. Visually enlarges the space, harmonizes well with any tones. Allows you to quickly update the interior of the loggia, adding several bright accents to it.

Suitable for any style of decoration.

        • Beige... It will also add volume to the room, it is combined with many colors, but it looks most harmonious with orange, green, purple, brown. In addition, wooden and wicker furniture looks beautiful with beige.
          • Brown. It is better not to take this tone as a base. Apply it on one wall or part of it. Combines with beige, white, coral. Brown adds coziness but reduces space.
            • Gray. In popularity, it will compete with the beige tone. Looks good as a base. Can be complemented with accents of red, yellow, orange. Combines with a brick or wood finish.

Practically does not fade in the sun.

              • Blue. Do not use if the loggia faces the north side, as it will look damp, cold and uncomfortable. In all other cases, blue is more than appropriate. Well diluted with accents of white, lemon, green.

We focus on the dimensions of the room

It is worth choosing the design of the loggia based on its size.

                              Small

Most of us live in apartments with a small balcony. However, this does not mean that its space cannot be designed conveniently, functionally and beautifully. For such a loggia, light shades are best suited. White ceiling, beige or gray walls, light floor will visually add space. Such loggias are usually narrow. In order not to clutter them, it is better to use compact furniture.... Built-in wardrobes provide additional storage space. A pair of compact chairs and a folding table will serve as a seating area. Avoid unnecessary decorative elements.

A couple of live plants in beautiful pots or pots, light curtains - this will be enough.

                              The average

Such a loggia will allow you to equip a playroom for children, a personal office or a full-fledged place to relax in it. If you plan to use the room as a playroom, then first of all pay attention to safety. Double-glazed windows must be of high quality and close well. In the play space, you can place a doll house, a pool filled with balls, hang a hammock. If the child loves sports, then you can place a horizontal bar, make a wall bars.

As a workplace, the loggia is a very suitable option. There is always a lot of light here, and it is also possible to place a long writing desk. You can make book racks on the walls. A medium-sized loggia, when decorating a seating area on it, will accommodate a small sofa and a table.

                              Big

There are large balconies, which, as a rule, run along two rooms. They are usually long. You can successfully beat such a space by combining several zones on it. For example, a playroom will be adjacent to a workplace for a child, where he can do homework. Or it will be a personal account and a place to relax. It's nice to enjoy a cup of coffee on a cozy sofa after hard work. Such a space can be arranged in the form of a recreation room and a winter garden.

In addition, on a large loggia it is convenient to make a built-in wardrobe that will accommodate a lot of things.

                              Furnishings

For a loggia, it is best to use folding compact furniture. Also fit built-in models. The type of furniture will depend on what purpose you have chosen for the loggia. If you plan to use it as a storage place for blanks for the winter, then you need a closet with shelves and drawers that will close tightly. Open shelves are suitable for books and various knickknacks. A wardrobe is useful if you plan to store out-of-season clothes and shoes on the loggia.

If the space does not allow you to install a full-fledged cabinet, then make it small and use it for storing household chemicals or cereals.

Wicker furniture is also well suited for a loggia. It does not look bulky and makes the room feel light. Hanging furniture is an interesting option. If you want more comfort, then pay attention to compact sofas and folding chairs. They do not take up much space and, if desired, can be easily transformed into a full-fledged sleeping place.

A long table top or, on the contrary, a compact corner computer table is suitable for organizing a workplace. Also, make some shelves or cabinets to store unneeded books and documents. The furnishing of the loggia will depend on whether or not the space you are going to furnish.

For open loggias, it is better to use furniture made of plastic or metal, which, if necessary, can be easily removed. It is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity. Glazed and insulated loggia allows you to choose furniture from any materials. The main thing is that it is comfortable and functional.

                              Decor and textiles

Decor elements for a loggia will depend on its size and design style. If the space is large, then you can use a variety of decorative items such as pillows, paintings, panels, lamps, figurines, flowers in pots or pots. It is better not to overload a small loggia with unnecessary decorative elements. One picture or several living plants is enough.

The textiles used will also vary depending on the design and size of the loggia. Most often, preference is given to light, almost transparent curtains, blinds of various types. A good option would be to use cotton or linen as the material. If you are decorating a large space and decorating in a classic style, then you cannot do without such fabrics as velvet and satin. The Arabic theme also involves a large number of bright, layered textiles.

When choosing fabric colors, consider which side your loggia faces. The southern side is more exposed to ultraviolet rays, where bright fabrics will quickly fade, losing their attractive appearance.

To make it comfortable and pleasant to be inside the loggia, you need to correctly equip the space and choose the decor. In this case, it will delight you and your guests for more than one year.

                              Beautiful examples

A corner sofa can serve not only as a place to relax, but also to sleep. Large panoramic windows offer a gorgeous view. Bold accents in the form of cushions and flower pots bring freshness to the beige and brown decor.

This design of the loggia allows not only to create a play space for the child, but also to provide him with a place to study. The wardrobe and shelves are used to store books and children's crafts.

Not every one of us can arrange a personal office in a small apartment. If you have a loggia, then you can make a workplace there. A compact computer desk, several bookshelves and a chair are basically all you need. The minimalistic calm design of the walls and roller blinds will make your stay in such a mini-office comfortable.
