Children's mini skis
Children's mini skis may be the first sports equipment of its kind. They are needed primarily by those who would like to put their children on downhill skiing later. It is for this reason that it is worth familiarizing yourself with them thoroughly.
What it is?
Children's mini-skis are becoming more and more popular with consumers. Their main area of use is to practice skiing skills. But these models are also used to practice risky tricks when descending slides on packed snow. You can ride them in the same way as with roller skates. It is curious that at first mini-skis were made for adults, and then adapted for children.
They cannot be considered toys and entertainment. Such versions are designed exclusively for fans of stunts and ski acrobatics. It will not be possible to replace ordinary skis with mini-skis, as well as a ride on them for a child at the age of 3 on a winter walk. This sports equipment is suitable only for those who have already mastered the art of simple skiing, and not only on a flat area, but also downhill.
Such a product has nothing to do with classic riding, therefore it is advisable to buy it only for a child at least 5-6 years old, who subsequently wants to be introduced to alpine skiing.
Species overview
The planks themselves can be made of wood or plastic. The tree is always more stable, while driving it provides a smooth glide. It is on such mini-skis that you need to start training. However, they:
-
rather ponderous;
-
do not allow you to move quickly;
-
often break;
-
need special care.
Plastic does not require any special maintenance. You don't even need to apply lubricant. However, sliding (and in all directions at once) will be extremely intense. You will definitely need to choose models with notches that limit slip.It is better for children to buy mini-skis with a wooden base and plastic glued on the surface.
Not all miniature skis are equipped with poles. They are usually added to models that are intended for adult riders. For children, this point needs to be clarified additionally.
It is worth paying attention to the fastening methods. The rigid fixation is suitable for children from 5 years of age. It involves the use of special boots.
This equipment is suitable for both walking and running. Semi-rigid mounts, however, are much more popular. For them, steel brackets or springs are used. Even the most ordinary shoes can be used with them - the leg will be fixed securely anyway.
The soft mount for mini skis is also used not only with special shoes - it is quite suitable for simple winter boots and boots. However, textile belts are hardly a good choice. They do not provide stable fixation and are not particularly durable. In many cases, such an attachment is stretched, often completely torn.
Popular brands
The rating of the best firms includes those that have been tested by the experience of athletes and advanced amateurs. In addition to Volki skis, this list also includes the following brands:
-
Salomon;
-
Atomic;
-
Fischer;
-
Nordica.
It is advisable for beginner skiers to give preference to Russian products. It is not so expensive, but its basic qualities are not worse. After completing the educational stage, it will be possible to understand exactly what parameters will be needed. Among the Russian brands the most demanded are "Gnome" and "Junior". Their offer is quite diverse, so that parents can always choose the appropriate solution.
How to assemble?
The instructions from the manufacturers, of course, tell you how to fix this or that product. But in many cases, these recommendations are not written very clearly for the average user. It would be more correct to focus on the advice of "experienced" who recommend doing the following when assembling:
- you should start with a short strap and a plastic clasp with four partitions;
-
push one edge of the strap through three of the four holes available;
-
after that, the second plastic fastener is fixed;
-
then pass the edge of the strap into the first hole of the first buckle;
-
hold the necessary part of the strap into the holes of the skis themselves;
-
fasten the plastic fasteners by threading the free end of the strap into the middle and first holes;
-
tighten the straps, finally fixing the structure in front;
With the second (rear) mount, repeat all the same steps.
