One of the main trends in the last 10 years has been contouring. If earlier they thought a little about it, now it is the basis of makeup. Contouring products make up the majority of the color cosmetics market today.

Light, barely noticeable, or in a lighter version - now it is applied by most girls and women on a daily basis, not to mention on special occasions. The main helpers in applying it - brushes - will be discussed in the article.

Varieties

Different brush models are used for contouring. Contrary to expectations, there are not so many of them, and mid-range products are always available both in terms of availability and in terms of price.

  • Kabuki brush. The famous brush is sold almost everywhere and looks like a small, dense, short brush. Its pile is dense, and the cut is in the form of a semicircle. And also there are models with a flat cut, they are used for driving in compounds. It is used for applying both loose and creamy products.
  • Flat fan brush. It got its name from the characteristic arrangement of the pile, which looks like a fan. It is used for applying loose products or those that require a small amount of application. And also it is easy to remove the remnants of shadows on the lower eyelid with it.
  • Beveled. Typically used for feathering contouring. Thanks to it, you can remove sharp transitions and clear lines of application of cosmetic products. She often also applies a powdery bronzer to the area under the cheekbones. In general, it shades very well all products applied to the cheekbones.
  • A flat brush for applying and blending eyeshadow. If all other products are mainly needed for shading, then this model is designed for spot and quick application. In particular, it is with this brush that it is easiest to apply the highlighter to the bridge of the nose, the tip of the nose, the chin, in the area under the eyebrow, and some areas of the forehead. And also with its help, a bronzer is applied, which "darkens" the wings of the nose, cheeks, forehead, lower part of the face, and so on. Often, it is with this brush that the delicate contouring of the nose is performed.

It is best to purchase a set of brushes for contouring the face, including at least 4-5 pieces. If your budget is tight, or you just don't like fiddling with multiple brushes, then it's best to get 2 brushes - one large and one smaller. The latter will be used for spot application, while the former will be used to blend all products.

Selection Tips

As already mentioned, to apply high-quality or at least good and neat contouring, you need to have several brushes. It is worth noting that for a dry and friable product (in the form of powder), you need to purchase a fluffy and soft brush. For a cream product, a brush with a short, dense and even bristle is purchased.

It's no secret that contouring involves the application of more than one product. The number of products required to apply one contour for one person can be up to 10, and the number of shades used - even more.

Let's take a closer look at the basic tools and brushes required for their application.

  • Tone cream. As a rule, it is applied with a sponge, but application with a brush is also allowed. To apply this product, it is better to choose a brush made of artificial pile, the pile itself should be dense, beveled.
  • Concealer. A thin brush is used to apply one of our favorite cosmetics. A small product is used due to the fact that it is easier for them to tint age spots, circles under the eyes, post-acne and other defects. These brushes make it easier to "remove" nasolabial folds and mask other problem areas. Some concealers are sold as pencils. In this case, as a rule, there is no need for brushes when applying.
  • Contouring products. They usually look like dry shadows. It is best to choose a fluffy and soft natural bristle brush with a beveled cut to apply them. With this brush, it is easy to apply funds on the cheeks, forehead, cheekbones, chin. It blends contouring evenly across the face and erases clear boundaries. Very handy for daily makeup.
  • Blush. To apply and distribute them, use a small brush to blend the shadows. They can also be applied with kabuki and fluffy brushes.
  • Highlighter. The fan brush has become a favorite brush for applying highlighter. She perfectly "puts" the product on the cheekbones. You can also use a fluffy brush.
  • Powder. To apply it, use a large fluffy brush with a dense bristle.

How to use it correctly?

In order to correctly apply all contouring agents, it is necessary to use special templates. It is important to experiment, to look for the most suitable contouring that is most in harmony with the type of face. First of all, you need to determine for yourself which textures suit you / like best - liquid, creamy or crumbly. For the first two, models made of artificial bristles are more suitable, while brushes made of natural bristles are more suitable for loose products.

As a rule, for those with problem skin, it is recommended to use a beveled brush, as well as kabuki. The angled brush works well with concealers, and the kabuki blends well. In tandem, both models give excellent results. For those whose face does not have many defects or imperfections, it is recommended to purchase a fan brush to the standard set. It is easy to blend with a highlighter or bronzer, while emphasizing the natural beauty.

If you want to accentuate your cheekbones, it is best to opt for torch-like brushes. They work well on the cheekbones. Beveled products have the same effect. Brushes, like other things you love, need proper care. Ideally they should be washed and dried after each use. Models made of artificial pile are stronger and more durable. It is easier to wash off the funds from them, and also such products do not clog.

Remember that the right brush is 50% good makeup.
