It is very important which brushes to apply makeup. The most common tools of this type are items made from natural and artificial pile. In the article we will talk about the differences and features of natural products for applying cosmetics.

Peculiarities

Makeup brushes with natural bristles are quite pleasant, with their softness they cause only good feelings, they are easy to work with. But due to the porous structure of natural villi, they actively absorb fatty compounds, so such items need constant and careful care.

Contamination creates a favorable environment for bacteria. As a rule, experienced cosmetologists use such a tool to apply not creams, but dry formulations (blush, eye shadow, eyeliner, and so on).

But after each use, in any case, they need to be cleaned and treated with appropriate substances to comply with hygiene rules.

Comparison with synthetic brushes

Artificial bristles do not absorb cosmetics as well as natural ingredients, so it is better to use brushes with synthetic hairs to apply products with a greasy texture. They are easier to care for (wash quickly) and do not cause allergies.

While synthetic brushes are becoming more and more popular, many people still choose to apply makeup with squirrel bristles, goat bristles, or other animal hairs.

What are they made of?

Natural makeup products are distinguished by the unique texture of the material. The villi of each animal have their own characteristics and, depending on this, each instrument has its own purpose.

  1. Goat bristle... Although the pile of the goat is harsh, it creates a rather fluffy bunch, which is convenient for applying blush, powdery and other dry compositions. It is good to shade cosmetics with such objects, including shadows.
  2. Squirrel brushes... Quite soft and delicate villi do not bring unpleasant sensations, such brushes are ideal for applying shadows on the eyelids. They can also draw arrows, both with dry and gel eyeliner - you get a perfectly smooth and soft line.
  3. Column brushes. A soft, but more elastic pile than squirrel is also intended for shading shadow compositions and a pencil, applying eyeliner.
  4. Natural sable brushes. Silky bristles are used to apply fine strokes and layers on the face. So, if you need to highlight the cheekbones with translucent lines, then sable brushes are the most suitable object for this. But you need to know that "sable" is a rather expensive material and may not always be of the required quality.
  5. Horsehair and pony bristles. Most manufacturers use a horse base to produce flat brushes. They are easy to layer cosmetics, they are often used when applying foundation, although in general it is not recommended to use a natural foundation when applying oily formulations to the face.

Manufacturers often combine different types of natural hairs and make cosmetic brushes from the nap of several animals, for example, ponies and squirrels or goat bristles and squirrel hairs. The mixed material allows you to create a softer tool for applying cosmetics, or, conversely, with a more elastic bristle.

Shapes and sizes

In shape, natural makeup brushes are:

  • flat;
  • beveled;
  • lush;
  • rounded;
  • elongated shape.

The shape depends on the purpose of the tool. For example, to form a blush, the composition is applied with a fluffy tool. They also put a powdery composition on the face. But for working in the eye area and shading the shadows, you need flat brushes.

By size there are:

  • large;
  • small;
  • medium in size.

The size is chosen depending on the type of makeup application. A small tool will complicate the task when working with cosmetics, and with a brush that is too large, you will not always get a high-quality make-up.

How to take care of them?

Washing the brush is a must. This requires a special shampoo or regular moisturizing toilet soap. The process resembles shampooing: with massaging movements, you need to clean the pile, then rinse it thoroughly, blot it with a napkin and dry it by weight.

You need to dry it in a dry place where there is good ventilation, or just leave it on the windowsill in sunny weather. The brushes are stored in special covers or in a cosmetic box.
