The art of make-up is quite difficult, but you can master it if you constantly train your observation. It is usually recommended to choose makeup based on the color type, but the outfit is also important - its color scheme and style. Makeup should not contradict these nuances, it is important that it harmoniously complements the image. There are universal types of makeup that go with everything, but knowing colors and styles hasn't hurt anyone yet.

Choice based on style

Make-up for a dress should be selected taking into account the purpose of the image, its style and even the features of the style.

Office

This style implies some stiffness, has strict features. The range of colors in this direction is limited to neutral, calm tones. Among them are beige, brown, gray, black, dark blue. Regardless of the color, makeup should be neutral, calm, light.

Don't mix too many shades - light base, a little darkening. Small arrows are acceptable, but only in black, brown or graphite tones.

Everyday

A daily look also requires makeup, but not too bright, without catchy elements. Maximum naturalness, natural colors are welcomed, while it is important to emphasize the advantages of appearance. Use monochrome, smoky techniques. Suitable palettes are gray, pink, brown.

Beach

The beach look should be as natural as possible, so you need to either give up makeup or make it very light.

Mini

Short dresses themselves are very expressive, provocative, flirty. It is best to choose spicy makeup options for makeup, airy, graceful. If the dress is the right color, go for peach, rose, some sparkly accents.

Maxi

A long dress is very feminine, sophisticated; calm, elegant makeup will harmoniously suit it. Focus on freshness or try something bright but noble. Pink, blue is what you need. As for the techniques, you can use arrows, arrange your eyelashes magnificently, neat blush will do.

Evening

Solemn events, parties allow girls to look bright, expressive, spectacular. You can pick up catchy accessories, jewelry and a noticeable make-up. For example, shining textures will be harmonious: shine, shimmer, glitter. Dark shades will add brightness to the features, smokey ice, cat's eye technique are appropriate. Silver and gold are perfect for these purposes.

Wedding

Wedding fashion today is very aesthetic, long elegant dresses are often chosen. The peculiarity of a wedding make-up is that it should combine tenderness, airiness and brightness. Of course, it is important to consider the color type of the bride. Brown, pink and peach palettes are popular.

Options depending on the color of the dress

Choosing makeup to match the color of the dress does not mean making a tone-on-tone make-up. The easiest option is to dress with neutral palettes. Almost any shade is perfect for gray, black, white outfits. Therefore, it is better to focus on your color type here.

In addition, keep in mind that the selection of makeup for an outfit implies rather a harmonious combination with manicure, blush, lipstick than with shadows.

Regardless of the shade, always consider the style and mood of the look. For example, no matter what color your work dress is, business style implies calm shades of make-up. The same outfit for going to the theater can be played up in a completely different way.

Under dark tones

  • Black. This color is neutral, but inexpressive, it can fade the skin. Therefore, it is important to use warm colors, accentuate lips with lipstick of a red palette. Do not forget about blush, foundation.
  • Dark blue. Here it is more appropriate to focus on the eyes, arrows are required with an eyeliner or pencil, shadows, voluminous mascara. But lipstick and blush are optimal calm-pale.
  • Gray. This is a classic range that combines different shades with which shiny silver, cold beige and sand, light brown, dark gray look harmonious. Be sure to use black mascara and eyeliner. Natural blush, light pink or brown lipstick.
  • Dark green. An emerald dress looks great in an image with shades that are similar in terms of the palette. For example, you can safely apply everything green, brown, golden. If you are planning an evening out, choose plum purple tones.
  • Purple. The mysterious shades of the purple palette look good with pink blush, the same lipstick. Shadows can also be used in pink or lilac. Don't forget black mascara and eyeliner.

If the skin is light, it is better to choose a foundation one tone darker, so the image will turn out to be more harmonious.

Under light shades

Soft pastel colors refresh the look very much, so dresses of such palettes are in constant demand.

  • Powdery. The soft pink dress itself is very feminine and romantic. It is important to consider the category of pink tone. Dark powdery looks best with gray, brown pigment, beige lipstick, classic black mascara. A light pink outfit requires the use of the same shades in makeup, mascara and pencil are black.

  • White. An elegant and expensive color, it resembles a blank sheet of paper on which you can paint whatever you want. Choose a light make-up, an excellent solution - shades of gold, purple, beige, gray and blue. Use blush sparingly.
  • Silver. For such a dress, you can use pearlescent textures.Use dark gray, black, purple eyeshadows, this is a great option for an evening out. If you are using a silver dress in a daytime look, choose the shade more calmly: you can limit yourself to eyeliner and mascara, blush and lipstick in nude tones.
  • Beige. Nude shades of the outfit require calmness and make-up, use a range of similar colors, complement with black ink, pencil. Lipstick depends on the case - for a daytime make-up it is better to choose something calm, even a transparent gloss will be appropriate. For an evening out, boldly paint your lips with raspberry lipstick.
  • Peach. A delicate shade of peach looks best with the tones of the same palette. Choose light, fresh tones of peach, powder, gold, beige, light brown. To make your eyes appear brighter, paint your eyelashes with black or brown mascara.
  • Blue, turquoise. Soft pastel tones of turquoise and blue require soft textures, you can use pearlescent, shining. It is enough to paint the lips with gloss, refresh the cheekbones with a natural nude blush.
  • Lilac. In the case of lavender and lilac shades, the same color principles work as with a purple dress. The recommendations are identical.

For bright models

The choice of makeup for a bright dress has its own characteristics, a catchy outfit, on the one hand, is self-sufficient in itself. On the other hand, it is important not to get lost against the background of rich colors.

  • Red, crimson, coral, burgundy. Regardless of the shade of the red palette that your dress has, make-up is best done neutral. As for the shadows, the most harmonious here will be gray, beige, brown. Discard red, berry eyeshadows. As for lipstick, it should be consistent with the situation. For a day out, you can simply use a translucent gloss. In the evening, brown, red, cranberry lipstick will go well with a dress close to the palette. It is better if it is still lighter than the dress.

  • Leopard. Animal print is very expressive and effective; shades close in temperature are suitable for it. Warm golden, brown, black, beige tones will look the most organic. It is worth highlighting the eyes with black eyeliner, the arrows can be double or curly.

Smokey ice is also appropriate - both in black and brown. Choose a discreet lipstick - brown, beige.

  • Gold, yellow. Sunny and golden shades go well with a nude palette, black and brown mascara, and eyeliner. Brown or beige shades, warm blush are perfect for these tones. If the look is evening, you can safely match shadows with glitter of the same tone to the golden dress.

Helpful hints

There are rules for the selection of makeup shades that you can safely use, although they are unspoken:

  • lipstick, mascara and shadows of the opposite shade of the dress in the color wheel are an excellent solution;

  • if you don't know what to choose, rely on neutral palettes - this is an excellent solution for a natural make-up;

  • focus on only one detail - lips or eyes, otherwise there is a high risk of overdoing it with makeup;

  • the accent rule also works in terms of the outfit - if the dress is too bright, choose a muted make-up, and vice versa;

  • always consider not only the color of the dress, but also the color of the hair, eyes.

For brunettes who have chosen a black or any dark dress, there are practically no restrictions on makeup, but blondes will have to be careful. They need to at the same time not be too pale, and not look vulgar. For dark blond hair, light pink lipsticks, beige shadows, all natural pigments are well suited. Red lipstick will be a good complement to the image of a brunette, blonde, fair-haired girl. It is better for brunettes to give up pink lipsticks and gloss in favor of brown and transparent ones.

Brown-haired women also have almost no makeup restrictions, but it is undesirable to use only bright and dark tones. Blonde girls look perfect with makeup in beige, gold, brown. However, you should take into account the color of the eyes and the temperature of the color type. A light matte base slightly darker than natural is suitable for blondes.

As for the lips, pink tones, glosses and lipsticks are most appropriate here. Light-haired people always need to emphasize their cheekbones so that the face is more expressive.

When it comes to eye color, follow these guidelines:

  • for brown, choose juicy and muted shades of gray, blue, beige, pink, brown;

  • for blue, pink, blue, purple, lilac pigments are suitable, they will make the face more expressive and clearer;

  • for green, shades of gray, blue, black, graphite are optimal;

  • for gray, metal, silver tones, gray, graphite are good, all this can be combined with each other.
