Well-groomed pens with beautiful manicure are an integral part of the image of any modern beauty.

But many are afraid of dark shades on their fingers. Most people associate black only with Gothic images. But this is not so, because deep and rich dark tones add elegance and chic.

Decor features

Although dark varnish itself looks very bright and catchy, it can be supplemented with decorative elements. But remember about the sense of proportion. You should not glue all your nails with rhinestones or sparkles, it will look defiant and inappropriate.

But a modest decoration on one or two nails will add style and sophistication. We'll talk about what else you can decorate a dark manicure below.

  • Rhinestones. The glitter and luxury of these little stones are appreciated by millions of beauties. Someone cannot imagine even everyday manicure without them, and someone dislikes it because of excessive brightness. In any case, they are very similar to small diamonds, and as you know, they are the best friends of girls.
  • Kamifubuki. They are small, shiny circles that resemble confetti. Purple and blue kamifubuki look especially interesting against a dark background. But it is not forbidden to try other combinations. If they are well positioned on the nail, they will resemble the glare of the sun.

If you match their color to the color with varnish, then you may not achieve the desired result, since the jewelry will merge with the base.

  • Glitter. Armed with a brush, the master collects fine powder on it and gently distributes it over the nail. This technique allows for an even coverage. You can pre-stick the stripes or cover the areas that you want to leave free. With the help of glitter, you can also create a colored jacket. For example, a combination of black or dark blue varnish and gold glitter will look very stylish.
  • Foil. Foil will help to create the feeling that there was a shiny coating on the nail, but over time it has worn off. The material is very thin, fits tightly on the nail plate (no transition in height is visible). It should stand out against a dark background, so choose lighter shades of foil.
  • Broths, beads, decorations. These cute elements are simply irreplaceable in nail design. Masters skillfully use them for any manicure. Thin framing lines are laid out from broths, and beads make the main emphasis on the nail. Due to the difference in size, this combination is very beneficial. But this is a very delicate work, the master will need to arrange each grain in its place.
  • Piercing. It is not only on the ears or stomach, nails can also be decorated with a cute pendant. To do this, a small hole is made in the selected marigold, and the decoration is fixed. The piercing is very beautiful, but it is worth remembering that if you work a lot with the computer, it can bring additional inconvenience. You will also need to be more careful with knives when preparing dishes.
  • Stencils and printing. There are special machines that apply the selected pattern to your nail. This is called nail printing. But not every master has them, and then stickers or prepared stencils come to the rescue. On them, beautiful patterns or pictures are created. Obviously, the picture must be contrasting in order to stand out well against a dark background.
  • Lace and mesh. One more "assistants" of the master when creating a stylish manicure. After applying varnish (gel varnish), an element of lace or mesh is applied to the nail. The necessary piece is cut off, then the master carefully puts it on the sticky layer with tweezers. This is followed by the finishing coat.

It is difficult to draw each line of a complex lace pattern; with the same materials, work will not take much time, and the result will be excellent.

Combination of colors

Today, a combination of several shades of varnish is in fashion. Therefore, it is important to understand with what colors a dark manicure looks advantageous and stylish. Nobody forbids you to come up with your own, but just ask the master to show in advance how it will look. Much depends not only on the chosen color, but also on the shade.

  • With gold. It doesn't really matter if your nails are burgundy, blue and dark green, all of these noble colors go well with gold. Such catchy material requires a careful attitude. A large amount of golden color is inappropriate here. This combination is perfect for an evening out. For example, brown and gold look very luxurious when paired.
  • With red. Black with red on the nails is a classic combination. It emphasizes the passion and ardent character of its owner. You can use the ombre technique or paint just one finger on each hand in this contrasting shade.
  • With pink. From dark varnishes, you can choose purple, blue, eggplant, beetroot, burgundy shades. They all go well with pink. But it's worth considering your everyday look. Are these colors present in it? If not, then the manicure will conflict with the image, and not be its continuation.
  • With beige. A neutral shade that pairs well with rich dark tones. The ideal option would, of course, be brown.

But the choice is not limited to them. Depending on the shade of beige, you can find its successful combinations with blue, green, Marsala and black colors.

  • With blue. Delicate blue color will add softness and romance to dark manicure. Both drawings and a smooth transition from dark blue to light blue will look great. Of the classic dark shades, not only black is a universal "companion".It also looks stylish when paired with brown. Just choose cold variations of it.
  • With white. It's probably hard to find a color that doesn't go well with white. After all, as we know from the course of school physics, the whole spectrum is connected in it. That is why there are practically no restrictions on its use in nail design. Against a dark background, patterns and designs in white will be clearly visible.

Color in technique

It is not only due to the color that you can achieve originality in the manicure. Existing staining techniques also work towards this goal. Before going to the beauty salon, check them out and choose the one that you like best. Most likely, you have already tried some of them on yourself. But do not deny yourself the pleasure of trying something new.

  • Gradient. This is a smooth transition from one color to another, also called "ombre". And if the light gradient looks very gentle, then the dark one, on the contrary, is bold and bright. You can combine darker and lighter shades of the same spectrum. For example, dark blue can blend into cyan, and purple into pink. Contrasting combinations are also acceptable: red and black, blue and brown.
  • "Marble". A very interesting technique that allows you to create a coating on the nail that looks like natural marble. It is quite difficult to do it at home, since certain skills are required. An experienced craftsman can easily cope with this task. On dark marigolds, the stains natural for this stone look mesmerizing.
  • Divorces. They can be quite chaotic or patterned. Everyone knows the technique when a few drops of varnish of different color are dripped, and then stains are created with a thin brush. But this is not the limit of possibilities. A skilled nail designer is able to create a drawing that will claim to be a masterpiece.
  • "Cat's Eye". A relatively young technique that just looks gorgeous on dark varnish. The main idea is to create a light strip on the nail. This is achieved through a special magnetic powder. After applying it to the not dried gel polish, the same strip is created with a magnet. There are no restrictions on the color palette.
  • Drawings. These can be both themed pictures (New Year, nautical style and others), and universal designs. Which option to choose depends on your desire and reason. Do not forget only that there should be light or bright patterns on the dark varnish, otherwise it will simply not be visible. There are exceptions, though. For example, a delicate black twig (or other drawing) will look interesting against blue.
  • Geometry. Against a dark background, all bright and contrasting lines and shapes are clearly visible. This requires impeccable precision from the master, since any flaw or defect will be clearly visible. If you want to create a unique look, then try the option with bright lines on a black background. The sophisticated golden intersections on brown will give the look a chic look.
  • French. It can be made not only in light natural shades. A colored dark jacket is a non-trivial option for courageous ladies. Which combination to choose depends on the color scheme of your wardrobe. After all, a manicure should not only like it, but also be part of the image.
  • "Space". Its landscapes are mesmerizing. A riot of colors on a dark background is a great idea for a dark manicure. Only true masters of their craft are capable of performing such a complex design. Whether you want to place a scattering of stars on your fingers in a dark sky or decorate them with planets of the solar system - all this will be original and unusual.

Season Ideas

Trends exist not only in the field of clothing, but also in nail design. This does not mean that you should follow them unquestioningly, but every self-respecting fashionista should know about them. Take a look at the ones that we have collected especially for you. Perhaps these ideas will inspire you, and you want to repeat them in your own image.

  • Chaotic strokes. This technique has been used by many great artists, so why not repeat it on your own nails? Despite its seeming simplicity, it is not so easy to implement it yourself. One awkward move and you get a blot, not a pretty artistic brushstroke. On a dark background, you can experiment with the color of the strokes. They can be of the same color or different shades.
  • Matt. Although this technique appeared a long time ago, it does not lose its relevance today. Dark nails in any shade are the perfect base for a matte finish. Manicure immediately acquires a noble chic. In addition, dirt is not visible on such coatings.
  • Glow in the dark nails. An interesting effect, but still more suitable for young ladies. They can shine in front of girlfriends at a party with glowing marigolds in the dark. However, it is difficult to imagine a business lady rocking up in a nightclub.
  • "Broken glass". Despite its "sharp" name, such a manicure does not carry any danger. After all, the effect is achieved by imposing an irregularly shaped mother-of-pearl film on the nail plate.

These "shards" are often applied to a dark background. But you can also paint one nail in any other color, and place the "glass" on it.

  • Interspersed. Remember how in the drawing lesson you made small droplets on a white background? To do this, you could run a brush with paint on a thin comb over a sheet of paper, or just gently spray drops on the paper. Today, varnish manufacturers have simplified the process. They initially create variants with various inclusions. If such a varnish is not available, then you can apply them the old fashioned way.
  • Volumetric. When using this technique, the nails become more massive and thick, which is why you should not apply the design on all fingers, limit yourself to two. Remember, too, that a dark background will obscure small details. Therefore, it should be either distinct forms, or a pair of nails covered in lighter colors.

Nail design and shape

The final result is influenced not only by the chosen color and decor, but also by the shape of the nails. If you are a fan of building, then you can choose any length and shape you like, those who are for natural beauty will have to make an effort to create the desired result.

  • Short. Even in a dark version, they look neat and restrained. Don't be afraid that long black nails will scare your colleagues or partners. There are far fewer complaints about natural length than long stilettos.
  • Long. If your nails are strong and healthy, then you just have to wait for them to reach the desired length. Those who have weak and brittle marigolds cannot do without strengthening or building.
  • Square. One of the most popular forms. Looks best with a medium nail length. If you have thin long fingers, then you can safely use this form and dark shades of varnish. The nail has a regular straight cut and rather sharp corners. The lack of shape is the danger of quickly breaking these very corners.
  • Soft square. It differs from the previous version in smoothed corners. A more practical shape, less brittle, can be used on both short and long nails.

For women with very wide nails, this form is contraindicated, as it emphasizes their shortcomings.

  • Oval. This is the natural shape for the nail. It suits absolutely everyone, and looks very laconic even with a dark coating. It is better if the length is modest. Long oval nails don't look very organic.
  • Stilettos. A feature of the species is the pointed ends. Contrary to popular belief, they are not breakdowns at all. This form is made mainly for long nails. On short ones, it simply will not be possible to embody, since a rather large free edge is required. Dark stilettos are suitable for femme fatale and extravagant personalities.

As you can see, a manicure in dark colors looks great on almost any nails, in addition, there are many options for decor and decorations for such a tone. Choosing it for a casual look, you will never go wrong.
