French manicure rules for short nails with shellac
A well-made jacket on short nails is a classic manicure that provides for medium or short nails with a free white edge of a square or oval shape. As a rule, the French version is carried out in natural colors, and the bed of the nail plate has a shade that is as close as possible to the color of the skin.
Benefits of popular decor
Shellac French for short nails is one of the most popular manicure options, and there is an explanation for this. Its undoubted advantages are as follows:
- aesthetic, impeccable appearance, which is relevant both for an ordinary day and for a holiday;
- restraint of tones allows you to use a similar design in combination with any clothing and cosmetics;
- manicure can be performed on short and medium length nails.
Many women of fashion fell in love with this type of care and decor for a more prosaic reason - nails processed in this way do not require adjustment for two weeks, so when you go on vacation, you do not need to take manicure accessories with you.
How to prepare your nails?
French manicure can be done at home using ordinary varnishes, or you can use the services of a professional master in the salon. At home, for work, you will need a volumetric file, lint-free napkins or paper handkerchiefs, a degreaser, a UF lamp (36 W), a primer as a cleaning and disinfecting agent. You can use acetone or alcohol instead of a degreaser, but these can make the color of your nails less pronounced. When performing a manicure yourself, the first step is to carry out the following nail preparation:
- French-style coating requires careful dry processing of the nail plates, so at the beginning they need to be cut to the same length;
- after that, the cuticle is carefully pushed back, and its excess is carefully removed;
- further, grinding with a buff follows - a special, volumetric block, which, like other instruments, must be previously disinfected with a disinfectant;
- degreasing is the final stage before applying the coating, while it is better to use products that do not contain alcohol, or special wipes.
Shellacs should be prepared in advance - base and top, for protection and final fixation. You will also need two colored coatings - any pastel and white.
Grape seed oil is needed to restore the cuticle skin after the harmful effects of an ultraviolet lamp and mechanical damage during processing.
Creating a classic manicure with shellac
The application technique includes several stages. Having finished with the hygienic and mechanical preparation, after which the nail already has a certain shape, you can proceed to the main part of the procedure by performing the following algorithm:
- first, a transparent base is applied with a wide brush (one layer) and dried in a UF lamp for two minutes;
- then a colored, single-layer coating is made, as a rule, beige or light coffee, it must be dried a little longer - three minutes;
- on the third, a "smile" is created, that is, the overgrown part of the nail is painted over, you can use special stencils to make the edge more clear;
- at the end, a fixing, finishing shellac is applied to the plate - its layer should be quite thick, and it should be dried for about five minutes.
Important! All layers should be thin, except for the final one, and completely dry.
Design options
The universal design is done using a transparent base and white piping, but there are other types of manicure, which are suitable for different cases, namely:
- bicolor or multicolor jacket - when nails are designed in the same palette or different shades are used for different nails - this technique is similar to the classic coating, but brighter tones are chosen;
- reverse (moon) decor - when the nail plate at the base, covered with a contrasting color, forms a crescent;
- millennium - in this case, the main part of the nail is covered with a pastel, nude shade, while the edging can be brighter and contain a metallic sheen;
- decorative coating - this is an additional decoration with appliqués, beads, images.
The most demanded colors when performing a jacket are: beige, white, peach, salmon, coffee, turquoise and pink. The original version is a jacket with a pattern - for this you need to cover the nail with decor before applying the finishing layer. Another type of design is decoration with sequins and rhinestones, which can be easily done with your own hands, moreover, pebbles can hide some defects. The most difficult to implement is considered a multi-textured jacket, which combines a matte and glossy finish. A voluminous manicure is also a complex procedure that is best performed by a qualified master.
