Few people know, but the quality of the work performed depends on how well the tools are sharpened. Sharpening is needed not only for already used tools, but also for completely new ones. However, it is not always possible to afford sharpening from a professional, then improvised means come to the rescue. This article is worth considering how to hone your manicure tools at home.

The manicure tongs are a kind of replacement for the manicure scissors. They are also used to shorten nails with a stiff nail plate. Pliers differ from nippers in size, grip shape and extended blade. When choosing a nail clipper, there are a few details to pay attention to.

• The quality of the material. The tongs must be made of stainless steel. This is necessary so that they do not deteriorate during prolonged contact with water. It is advisable to give preference to well-known manufacturers with a good reputation.
• Perfect cutting surface. In no case should you buy forceps with gaps, even the smallest ones. This indicates incorrect sharpening of the tool.
• Progress. It should not be too tight or too loose, as the quality of work decreases and there is also a risk of injury. For example, it is easy to injure yourself when the handles bounce off sharply.
• Sharpening. The cutting surface must be perfectly sharpened.You can check the sharpening on a thin sheet of paper.

Nippers are a manicure tool that removes excess cuticle, which protects nails from injury and various harmful bacteria. That is why not only the appearance, but also the health of the nails depends on a properly cut cuticle. Therefore, when choosing a wire cutter, several points must be considered.

• As already emphasized in the description for the tongs, the most important attribute is the material from which they are made. The most practical models are made of medical stainless steel using a special technology. They can be distinguished from other models visually: they have a matte finish. And also such models are more resistant to moisture and other external factors, which contributes to an increase in the service life.
• The cutting surface is of great importance. In no case should the nippers cling, scratch, pull on the delicate skin of the cuticles. When buying nippers, you can test the sharpness on a piece of plastic.
• It is very important that the wire cutters are placed comfortably in the hand. In addition to size, springs play an important role. Today there are three types of wire cutter springs: single, double and spiral. Here the type of springs does not really matter, the main thing is that you are comfortable working with them.

Tweezers are a tool for manipulating small objects or elements that you don't want to touch with your hands. Tweezers are used in various fields of activity: in medicine, when working with tiny items, for example, repairing watches, when washing gold, collecting rare things, in cosmetology. Further, tweezers will be considered as a tool for cosmetic manipulation. It has several characteristics.

• Material. Today, two types of tweezers are known: plastic and metal. Separately, you can still highlight such a variety as automatic tweezers. According to numerous surveys, the fair floor prefers the metal option, citing the fact that it is more durable.
• The form. The tweezers can be divided into standard and "scissors" in shape. The standard model is the familiar version with two plates welded at the top. The "scissors" model got its name from the nail scissors, as they look very similar in appearance. Unfortunately, this model is not particularly in demand. Many simply cannot adapt to it.
• Working surface. There are such options for work surfaces as:
  1. straight line - for working with wide surfaces;
  2. beveled - great for work, for example, for removing single hairs;
  3. needle-shaped - it is used most often in cosmetology and medicine, but sometimes it is also used by manicurists, it is suitable for planting stones on nails.

A good master can be determined not only by the work performed, but also by the state of the tools, namely by sharpening. After all, the sharpened tool allows the master to do his job efficiently and reduces the risk of injuring the client to a minimum. There are two ways to grind tools: give it to a professional or grind it off yourself. Sometimes it is impossible to turn to a professional grinder for lack of time, trust or funds, since the procedure is not the cheapest. In this case, you can try to sharpen your tools at home.

If, nevertheless, a decision is made to sharpen the tools on their own, then it is worth preparing for the process properly. For a start, it is recommended to try it on something else, so as not to spoil your favorite instruments. For sharpening at home, you may need the following items:

• a machine with a diamond-coated wheel;
• felt napkins;
• polishing bars 12000 grit;
• sharpening bar;
• if you don't have the time or desire to tinker with all this, you can try a diamond-coated knitting needle; for home stitching, a knitting needle with the finest abrasiveness is suitable;
• sandpaper.

Sharpening tools at home includes the following steps:

• before sharpening, it is necessary to unscrew all the screws, which will avoid breakage, and also make your work easier;
• work with the machine at minimum speed;
• remember that polishing and sanding are not complete without each other;
• it is undesirable to use abrasive polishing stones less than recommended (less than 8 thousand grit), as this threatens the tool malfunction;
• you should be aware that any tool has its own sharpening angle, therefore, when hand-cutting, there is a possibility that the cutting function will be damaged if the correct angle is not observed;
• if necessary, sharpen the corners of the tweezers, you must be extremely careful, since one awkward movement and the cutting edge can change, which will lead to the unusability of the tool;
• do not forget about your own safety; mask, goggles, gloves - this is the minimum set that should be provided when working with tools at home.

It is worth considering a rough plan of action for cutting nail scissors at home, which includes the following steps:

• examine the scissors - it is advisable to unscrew it to make it easier to work;
• turn on the diamond-coated wheel at the minimum speed, walk the cutting part in a circle strictly in one direction, repeat the procedure again and wipe the blade;
• assemble the scissors, grind the assembled edges of the scissors;
• polish the cutting surface with a polishing bar or napkins.

Other tools are honed in a similar way. And to polish the tweezers, you need sandpaper. To do this, we run the sharp part of the tweezers on the sandpaper on both sides, then use polishing napkins to smooth overly sharp edges, disinfect and that's it - you can safely use it. • make sure that the edges of the pliers, nippers are smooth and even;
• make sure there is no gap between the cutting parts;
• jerk the tool in your hand and make sure all screws are tight.

To make your favorite instruments last as long as possible, you should adhere to the following rules:

• use tools only for their intended purpose;
• monitor the condition of the cutting surface, grind off if necessary;
• disinfect after each use;
• do not store tools in places with high humidity;
• it is worth storing tools in special cases or in silicone tips.
