Can I eat meat and fish?
At Shrovetide week, it is customary to fry a wide variety of pancakes. There are many other treats on the tables. We can say that there are practically no restrictions. On Shrovetide, you cannot only eat meat and all dishes containing it. After Shrovetide comes Great Lent, the strictest and longest of all. The last week before him has such restrictions. But at this time you can eat fish in any form, which, again, cannot be done during fasting, with the exception of certain days.
For the rest, you can not limit yourself, any plant food is welcome, you can eat all kinds of pastries, eggs, dairy products. The same slave can be fried, boiled, baked, salted. All this, of course, concerns believers and those who strictly observe all fasts and do not deviate from them in anything. The rest of the people who take part in festivities and the celebration of Maslenitsa do not limit themselves even to meat. After all, on holidays that take place in city squares and in rural settlements, you can always find chebureks, pies with meat, and even barbecue.

What is the best pancake to eat with?
Pancakes for Shrovetide are baked in unlimited quantities. They meet guests and go to visit, they are treated to the whole family, relatives, friends.But eating pancakes every day can get boring, so there are many different fillings and just add-ons with which you can serve pancakes.
The pancakes themselves can be eaten with the following ingredients:
- any jam, jam, jam;
- sour cream and whipped cream;
- honey;
- condensed milk, including boiled milk;
- fresh berries and fruits;
- cheese sauce;
- butter;
- chocolate or butter creams;
- peanut butter.
You can also prepare all kinds of fillings that are easy to wrap in a pancake. It is enough to put a little filling in the middle and roll it on all sides to make an envelope.
- Cottage cheese. The easiest option for sweet pancakes. Mash the cottage cheese well with a spoon, add sugar, mix.
- Red caviar. It is enough to put two or three spoons and wrap the pancake.
- Potato. Boil potatoes, make mashed potatoes, add fried onions - a great filling.
- Mushrooms. Fry the mushrooms in a skillet, finely chop beforehand, add the onion. The filling is ready.
- Cheese and ham. Grate the cheese, add finely chopped ham, wrap in a pancake and heat to melt the cheese in the microwave or oven.
And these are the most common options. You can experiment with any of the components. The filling can be:
- fried cabbage;
- ground beef or chicken;
- liver;
- fruits and berries;
- chopped eggs with herbs.
What should you give up?
Shrovetide is a bright and cheerful holiday. And you shouldn't deny yourself all sorts of goodies. As mentioned above, it is recommended to refuse only meat, sausages and all dishes that contain them. Some people think that eggs should not be eaten these days. But this is a mistake, and they do not apply to prohibited products during the Pancake Week.
What you definitely need to give up during the Maslenitsa celebration is alcohol. It is not recommended to use it on this holiday. These days they cook jelly, compotes, make fruit drinks, brew aromatic tea. You can drink coffee, cocoa, kvass, juices. So alcohol may well wait for another case. In addition, Shrovetide is always games and contests, and for this you need to be cheerful and with a clear mind.
But the most important thing to give up these days is not even food. First of all, you cannot get angry, swear and even think about bad things.
