Shrovetide is usually celebrated for a whole week before the beginning of Lent. However, many researchers of such holidays claim that the festivities were held even before the beginning of the Christian era.

The key feature of the holiday is its riotous nature.... During Shrovetide, joyful laughter is heard everywhere, various competitions, concerts and other types of entertainment are held. It is also customary to celebrate the holiday in bright costumes, and for the creation of some people turn to professional craftsmen.

These can be folk costumes in the form sundresses, shirts, caftans, as well as outfits in the form of the sun, spring. Often at the festivities, people dressed in costumes of a buffoon, horse, bear and other bright symbols of the holiday.

Special guests of Maslenitsa, whose outfits are often used at the holiday:

1. Fabulous Emelya... He is a frequent guest of Shrovetide festivities. Usually Emelya rolls it out on an improvised oven, which is installed on some kind of transport.
2. The sun... Another pertinent image at the holiday held for the sake of the arrival of spring. You can wear a sun suit over warm clothes. At the same time, the image is suitable for both men and women.
3. Baba Yaga. Where without her? To create a costume, it is enough to use unnecessary fabric or rags, and also find a wide skirt.Baba Yaga dresses up for the holiday, so it is worth decorating the image with a bright scarf or apron.
4. Kikimora... An image that can diversify Shrovetide. Kikimora's outfit is characterized by green shades and layering.

• Shawls... Preference should be given to bright and large scarves, in which you can wrap yourself if you wish. If there are no large scarves, then you can take small ones and tie them on your head.

It is difficult to imagine a holiday without children. How is it customary to dress up babies and adolescents for Shrovetide? On the one hand, the holiday is held in winter, which does not allow taking off fur coats and scarves. However, this did not interfere and does not interfere with coming up with interesting outfits for children.
