Artificial latex mattresses are quite popular with buyers. The pros and cons of such springless designs completely compensate for each other, and in terms of price-quality ratio, they leave many competitors far behind. A detailed overview of artificial latex mattresses will help you understand how to choose the right one for a child, adult or couple.

Characteristic

Artificial latex springless mattresses are marketed under various names. The material is called Eco Foam or Eco Foam, Norma Foam, but, in fact, it is polyurethane foam, formed in the form of elastic dense mats. These mattresses are tougher than natural mattresses, but they deform faster. The standard density of the porous mat is 25-35 kg / m3. The production of artificial latex is based on foaming of polyester with the addition of catalysts or other components.

Do not believe that a substitute for natural Hevea juice is found among petroleum products. In this case, polymers turn out to be much more effective, and they do not emit harmful substances during operation. It is possible to determine that artificial latex is used in the mattress by its marking.

In most cases, the material is marked with the letters HR. The numbers next to the letters indicate the stiffness of the product and its density.

This is what the main classification looks like.

  • Super soft and soft. Marked as HR3012, HR3020. Service life does not exceed 8 years, designed for a load of no more than 80 kg per berth.
  • Medium hard. There are mattresses of the groups HR3025, HR3030, HR3035, designed for a load of up to 80 kg and serving for 8 years. The second group - products of grades HR3530, HR3535.They are designed for a person's weight up to 100 kg, and are able to maintain their properties for up to 12 years in a row.
  • Medium hard for high loads. For a weight of up to 120 kg, HR4026 foams are designed, up to 130 kg - HR4535, for a weight up to 140 kg - HR5535.

If a manufacturer manufactures artificial latex under its own patent, the labeling may differ. For example, designated as LL. In this case, the composition must be clarified.

Advantages and disadvantages

Like any other material, ekofena has its pros and cons. The obvious advantages of artificial latex mattresses include a number of points.

  • Hypoallergenic... The material does not cause allergic reactions in children and adults. With proper care, conditions are not created inside for the accumulation of dust, the appearance of bed mites and other parasites.
  • Free air circulation. It is necessary to quickly dry a wet mattress, as well as to maintain natural ventilation during sleep. Nothing prevents moisture from evaporating from the skin, there is no greenhouse effect.
  • Orthopedic properties. Artificial latex is tougher than natural latex. Such filler gives the mattress the ability to take the shape of the human body, and then restore the previous shape. If there are springs, depending on their number per 1 m2, the product can be considered orthopedic or ordinary.
  • Elasticity... The material is not afraid of bending, creasing. The mattress can be stored and transported rolled up - it will fully restore its properties. Ecopena does not deform under the influence of significant loads, it can be used for sleeping for people with different body mass indicators.
  • Long service life. Unlike many tougher materials, artificial latex does not crumble. Products made from it retain their properties for 10 years. This is the service life given to mattresses by manufacturers.
  • Lack of noise during sleep. Springless products are the best choice for people with restless sleep. The good thing about latex foam is that it doesn't make squeaks or other unpleasant noises. Moreover, it softens the impact of movement, allowing couples with different life schedules to sleep more comfortably.
  • Attractive cost. Artificial latex is not as expensive to manufacture as natural latex. That is why mattresses with it are presented in an affordable price range. This affects their demand among a wide range of buyers.

Minuses is also there. Among the most obvious is the instability to low temperatures. In addition, the material produced from chemically synthesized substances has a specific odor that disappears over time. Right off the bat, it may seem overly harsh.

There are also restrictions on the load on the berth, it should not exceed 120 kg.

Choice

When choosing an artificial latex mattress for a child or adult, a number of criteria must be considered.

  • Material type... Artificial latex can be referred to as Eco-foam, Eliocel, Norma Foam, highly resilient polyurethane foam. In any case, we will talk about the same type of filler. Do not assume that a synthetic base is much worse than a natural one - in inexpensive mattresses, natural latex will be only 20-30%.
  • The degree of hardness. For adults, mattresses of medium hardness will be the best solution. For children and adolescents, people with orthopedic problems, the combined type models will be the best solution. They contain hard layers of coconut coir or other materials. Very soft mattresses will appeal to the elderly, as well as those who like a comfortable sleep.
  • Weight restrictions. Even in double mattresses, it is indicated for 1 place. That is, an indicator of 80 kg means that the total bearing capacity will be 160 kg. It is imperative to take this factor into account, otherwise the mattress service life will be noticeably shorter, it will quickly lose its shape.
  • The presence of a spring block inside. It is believed to provide more effective body support. But for joint sleep, it is better to choose springless models that do not transmit the movements of the second person to the base of the bed. In spring products, it is important to look at the density of the spiral elements inside - the higher it is, the better the support for the back and body as a whole.
  • Options... The non-slip cover makes it easier to fix the sheets on the bed. If it is removable, unfastened, the casing of the product can be washed - this is important for maintaining an attractive appearance and hygienic safety of the product. If the mattress is heavy, by the way there will be sewn loops to turn it over. Springless models allow twisting during storage and transportation - this is also an indisputable plus for the owner.

An equally important factor in choosing is the matching of the size characteristics of the mattress and the bed. It is not worth buying a base for more or less berth. The mattress should sit tightly, fit well to the sides and frame, otherwise you will have to forget about a restful sleep.

Before choosing a product, it is worth measuring a berth - sometimes it turns out to be of non-standard dimensions.

Care advice

Artificial latex is very easy to maintain. In spring and springless mattresses, this layer provides good air permeability, so unpleasant odors do not linger in it. But it is necessary to regularly clean the mattress topper with a vacuum cleaner, as well as periodically ventilate the product, especially if it is used for children's sleep. And also the maintenance of the mattress made of artificial latex includes regular turning over. You need to change sides at least once every 3 months. If the product itself is contaminated, it is allowed to clean it with suitable means, taking into account the type of fabric of the mattress topper (strictly free of chlorine).

Wet foam must be dried, otherwise pathogenic microflora, dangerous to health, may form inside. Also, mattresses made of artificial latex should not be kept for a long time in the cold or in direct contact with the sun's rays. This can accelerate the breakdown of the filler. Contact with hot objects is also contraindicated for them. Do not use open flames in bed, do not put curling irons or other electrical appliances on it. PPU is a flammable material, therefore it is dangerous to ignore fire safety rules.
