Simple straight forms quickly become boring and boring. Therefore, creating a new design, everyone wants to try something new, something that has never been used before, especially when space permits. And the new decision is to choose something round. The shape of a circle has always accompanied many interiors, for example, a round table. But the designers went further and created round beds, as well as round mattresses for them. In this article, we will consider the features of round mattresses, their types, as well as selection criteria.

Peculiarities

Round mattresses that are on the market today are divided into two types: for children and adults.

In general, initially round-shaped mattresses began to be produced for transforming children's furniture. This is when the crib "grows" together with the baby from the moment of his birth and until about 8-10 years old (here a lot will depend on the growth of the child). Due to the high demand for this type of mattress, many adults also wanted to try it out.

Unlike children's mattresses, which were made according to the same sample, different models of mattresses and mattress toppers were developed for adults. You can find low toppers in one layer, multilayer mattresses or futons, spring structures with various fillings, as well as transformer mattresses.

Height and filling may vary. It's no secret that non-standard models are always presented with a higher price tag than classic models.

This is due to the high cost of effort, money, and the fact that some models come with very non-standard sizes.

Advantage round mattresses in that, due to their shape, they do not bend under the human body. All weight is evenly distributed over the surface, without concentrating all the load in one place.

This is due to the peculiarities of the structure and assembly, the shape is held by the structure, which is sealed at the edges and office with a special layer, most often it is orthopene. And the mattress topper plays an important role. For sewing a cover, they always use dense furniture fabric, for children it is natural cotton, and for adults it is an artificial jacquard.

Many are worried about whether bed linen will slip off such a mattress. The answer is simple: you need to choose the right sizes, and if fear still remains, then you can choose bedclothes with elastic bands, which is always very convenient for any size and configuration of mattresses.

The main advantages of a round mattress for a bed:

  • original design solution, the interior will definitely not be boring;
  • good filling and wear resistance;
  • anatomical properties;
  • a wide range of models as well as types.

Of the minuses, the following can be noted:

  • a small number of companies that produce such mattresses;
  • small dimensional grid;
  • the price segment is higher than that of classic models.

In terms of internal filling, round mattresses are no different from rectangular ones and are divided into three types.

  • With a springless base. These models do not have any spring blocks. The interior is divided into layers, the rigidity depends on their quantity and filling. The materials can be any available fillers. Natural ones are latex and coconut coir. Usually they are combined so that the coir's stiffness is not so noticeable. In models with artificial spraying, polyurethane foam (polyurethane foam with varying degrees of rigidity) most often prevails, highly elastic foams that have a memory effect. Usually, low-rise mattresses or toppers are made of foam. Prosthetic properties depend on the materials used.
  • With dependent springs of the "Bonnel" type. A common option that is popular due to its cheapness. It occurs quite often, but it has a number of its disadvantages. The first is that it will be very difficult for two people to sleep on such a mattress. After all, if one spring bends, then all the others bend. This is considered the main disadvantage of this type. Of course, now you can find models that use polyurethane foam for a balanced distribution of weight, but this is not enough, and such a mattress quickly deteriorates if you do not change its location, but sleep in only one place.
  • With blocks of independent springs... One of the most expensive designs used for mattresses. Indicators of orthopedic properties at a height, is famous for its long service life. There are different levels of stiffness depending on the number of springs used. Each spring is sealed in a special case. Plus, natural materials can be added to independent springs. Such a mattress will cope well with a high load, and it will also be comfortable for people with different weight indicators to sleep on it.

As with the classic models, there are round mattresses that are divided according to the seasons: summer and winter sides. This is not uncommon now, but if there is an opportunity to purchase this option, then it will certainly justify itself.

Dimensions (edit)

Round mattresses have a dimensional grid that is divided into three types, excluding children's models. Different diameters of mattresses can be found on the market:

  • 200x200 and 210x210 cm is considered a small size, more suitable for sleeping for one person;
  • 220x220 - the average size, if translated into the classical way, it is closer to the one and a half bed version.
  • 230x230 and 240x240 - large size, analogous to a double mattress, it can comfortably accommodate two people;
  • 250x250 cm - this size refers to the "king-size" models, a large and spacious area that will not limit sleep in any way.

There are other sizes, but they are non-standard and therefore are most often made to order.

Dimensions 75x75 cm refer to baby cots.Children's mattresses can be made with one whole canvas, or they can be assembled from 2-3 parts, if we talk about models that are chosen for transforming beds.

In addition to the diameter of the model, an important role is also played by height. Of course, for many, the height of the product is not important, the main thing is that it overlaps the height of the sides of the bed. But it's worth taking a closer look at the different sizes. On average, the height of toppers and thin mattresses is from 2-10 cm. The comfortable height of mattresses with filler is from 15 to 25 cm. deny yourself this.

Criterias of choice

In order to choose the right mattress for the bed, you must observe a number of points that will help you decide.

The first thing to decide is which rigidity should be at the mattress. If there are no problems with the spine, then you can get by with the advice of the seller in the store, but if you still have some kind of back pain, then you should first ask the opinion of the orthopedic surgeon, who will help you choose the degree of rigidity.

Also, when choosing a mattress directly in the store, you need to "try on" the mattress: lie on the product for several minutes. They usually lie on their backs, and if after a while you want to turn, then perhaps the filling is too hard.

If, when turning from back to side, or, conversely, it is a little difficult for you to do it, because you "failed", then the filler is too soft.

The selection criterion can also be the growth of the person himself. This is also a very important factor for a comfortable sleep. Indeed, unlike the classical model, the boundaries of the circle are felt in a completely different way.
