How do eurobook sofas unfold and fold?
Most residents of small apartments are faced with the problem of choosing a suitable sofa that could combine several functions at once. Indeed, in the conditions of saving free space on the sofa, almost half of the home time passes: here you can comfortably relax after a working day, read a newspaper or watch TV, on a weekend the sofa is a convenient place to communicate with friends, and at night it serves most of its owners a full bed.
Among the large assortment of upholstered furniture, Eurobooks are very popular, and not least due to their reliability and affordable price.
Mechanism features
"Eurobook" consists of a seat and a backrest. The role of the back can be played by several rectangular pillows, in this case such a model can be placed close to the wall, since when unfolding there is no need for any free space between the back and the wall: the pillows move and fit next to the extended front part of the sofa.
There are models with and without armrests. As a compromise, some models have only one armrest, which, on the one hand, makes the sofa more compact, and on the other, comfortable for sleeping, since the pillow will rest against the armrest and will not fall on the floor.
Due to the depth of the seat, some models have small soft back cushions so that they can be placed under the back while sitting. The Eurobook mechanism is very simple. Complex systems of levers and the operation of pneumatic elements are not provided here. This is how all the parts of this simple draw-out mechanism work:
- the front half of the sofa is equipped with special rollers from below;
- these rollers roll on wooden or metal guides;
- the retractable part moves forward until it stops, the role of which is usually played by the front edge of the linen niche;
- supports are either legs or wheels, which roll on the floor when the sofa is unfolded.
The design feature of the "Eurobook" is that its mechanism, due to the minimum number of components, almost never fails. However, in the event that a particular model is made of cheap materials, there is still a possibility of its breakdown with active use.
How to decompose?
The "eurobook" is unfolded according to this algorithm.
- Cushions are removed.
- With one hand, the front horizontal block is taken by the middle and pulled out to the end towards itself. Perhaps the design of the model provides for a special strap, which is convenient to hold during this stage.
- At the back of the sofa, a free niche opens up where you can put small cushions or other things that are unnecessary during sleep.
- The backrest is lowered onto this vacant niche, or sofa cushions are laid, replacing the one-piece vertical half.
- Thanks to the same fillers, both halves of the sofa in the unfolded state are on the same level, but a gap forms between them, which can be compensated for by laying a thick blanket, blanket or even an additional mattress on top.
As already mentioned, the transformation mechanism of the Eurobook sofa is very wear-resistant, however, in order for the thing to serve as long as possible, it is necessary from time to time to carry out a preventive inspection, tighten loose bolts and lubricate metal assemblies.
Due to its simple design, such a sofa can be disassembled quite easily, so you can carry out all the measures to repair the product at home.
How to fold?
If in the evening there is a need to unfold the sofa in order to turn it into a place to sleep, then in the morning the opposite process takes place. What do you need to do to neatly fold the sofa back?
- We return to the vertical position the lowered backrest or pillows lying on the niche for linen.
- Press with your hand on the extended half of the sofa. This half leaves for its original place.
There is a kind of "Eurobook" mechanism called "tick-tock", such a model is distinguished by an even more perfect transformation principle. The fact is that when the front block is pushed forward, the legs or wheels of ordinary "Eurobooks" slide along the floor, often causing damage to the material from which the floor is made. Especially gets the laminate and fleecy carpet, on which the wheels eventually roll the tracks.
The "tick-tock" design is supposed to save the owners of such sofas from this inconvenience. Sofas with a tick-tock mechanism are equipped with special levers that push the front block up and forward, forcing it to "step" immediately to the desired distance. Such mechanisms are quite complex, which, of course, affects the price of sofas.
Recommendations
To extend the life of the Eurobook sofa, you should follow simple rules:
- such sofas should not be installed closer than half a meter from the heat source;
- if you have an uneven floor, you need to adjust the height of each support leg to protect its parts from loosening;
- the whole process of folding the sofa into bed should be done very carefully, without jerks and unnecessary jolts, so as not to break the mechanical parts;
- you should not allow children to use such a sofa instead of a trampoline, and you should also not sit on the armrests and back of the sofa;
- notice any minor malfunctions in time and immediately eliminate them.
If you follow these simple recommendations, the Eurobook sofa will retain its original qualities for a long time, making it an irreplaceable piece of furniture in any small apartment.
