How to unfold a sofa book?

A sofa-book is a very popular type of upholstered furniture. The advantages are that it can serve as a resting place and a bed to sleep. Also, a sofa of this type will fit well into any interior and will not take up much space in the room. With the correct operation of the mechanism, folding and unfolding the sofa is easy. But in the process of use, problems of a different nature can arise.

To turn the sofa-book into a full-fledged sleeping place, you need to do the following.

1. Raise the seat until it stops.
2. Press lightly until there is a characteristic click of the mechanism.
3. Move the backrest and seat to a horizontal position.

This design is very convenient and has a number of advantages: a flat berth without deflections, structural reliability, high wear resistance. In addition to the classical model, there are other varieties, each of which has its own transformation characteristics.

• Click-gag - when transforming, the seat must be raised until a click is heard. The back can be fixed for a reclining position or lowered to a berth.

• Accordion - to open, pull on the center section of the seat. In this case, the frame needs to be slightly raised. After these steps, the sofa will turn into a full-fledged sleeping place.

• Dolphin - has a lever type, so it is very easy to transform. You just need to pull the seat forward until the stops are triggered. Then the mattress block must be pulled out to the surface using special loops.

• Eurobook - the seat must be raised and pulled forward, and then simply lower the back.

To fill a sofa book, you need to do all the same steps, but in reverse order. Both when unfolding and folding the furniture, sudden movements should be avoided, as the mechanism could be damaged. It will take no more than 1 minute to open or assemble the sofa to any position.

If the sofa-book does not unfold, then the reason in most cases lies in the wear of the mechanism. Several factors can indicate a breakdown.

1. Abnormal sounds when trying to transform the sofa to the desired position (squeak, several clicks instead of one).
2. When unfolding and folding the structure, a characteristic click does not appear.
3. The seat cannot be lifted.
4. The seat or backrest is skewed visually.

It is possible to determine the exact cause of the breakdown only immediately after studying the state of the mechanism. To do this, you need to remove the armrests (if any). And only after that there will be an opportunity to inspect the interior.

If the problem is a loose mount, then simply tighten the bolts. If problems with the bolts are not identified in a timely manner, the wooden frame may burst. The algorithm of actions for this type of breakdown will be as follows.

1. If the crack is along, then you can try to pull the frame with metal brackets.
2. If the crack goes across, it is advisable to make repairs using a bar that needs to be hammered in from the opposite side of the mechanism.
3. If a wooden block bursts completely, you can try to glue it with PVA glue. It should dry completely after 24 hours. After that, you can use staples or strips.

Sometimes the reason for the failure of the mechanism lies in the stuck foreign object. To correct the situation, you just need to remove the foreign body. For example, it could be a shoebox or bedding. They can get into the mechanism from the storage box, which is provided in almost every sofa of this type.

If the furniture is purchased in a company store, an instruction must be attached to it, in which the transformation process is clearly spelled out. But even if the instructions are available, during the purchase process, you should ask the seller several times to demonstrate exactly how the furniture is folded and unfolded. If initially there are some problems, then it is better to refuse to buy a sofa, since this may indicate a marriage in the mechanism.
